SotN gets my vote.
-
I voted Aria. That to me is tied with Symphony as the kang wolf.
-
SotN and OoE are the very best. Can't decide between the two, so I just voted them both.
-
I voted Aria and Circle.
Symphony would have only gotten the points on graphics, animation and one or two gameplay mechanics but overall it wasn't as good as it was hyped to be.
Long dull coridoors, interestng weapons that were far outclassed by the time you got to use them and so never bothered and toooo easy.
Aria gets it right on everything, even graphics considering its a GBA title, imagine it with SotN graphics.
Circle gets my vote also because even though it's mostly whips the weapons were variable, there was a deffinate oldschool castlevania difficulty about it and the art style was gothic just as it should be for CV

I picked SoTN and Simon's Quest, but if not for SQ I woulda picked PoR.
-
I voted for aria of sorrow and Symphony. But to tell the truth i like very much order of ecclesia.
-
My votes went to SOTN (for a million obvious reasons), and Simons Quest. I've always loved that game.
-
I really enjoy most of them, and the newer ones are pretty darn good, but SoTN wins for me because of the music. The best quality with the highest number of great songs. It wins for me.
-
Well, having Simon's Quest on here skews things a bit (It's not really a Castleroid; though it's not really 100% Classic-style, either)...Anyways, I chose Simon's Quest and SotN. Otherwise, it would have been SotN and Circle of the Moon.

Huh guess nobody really likes HoD/WNC/CotMS?
O well i can still recognize it as being one of the weaker titles but still its a marginal difference since all casltevania are above average games.
-
Definitely SotN and OoE!
As much as I like Simon's Quest, it just had to sit this one out.
Also, I think "Metroidvania" sounds way better than "Castleroid". "Metroidvania" flows better and "Castleroid" sounds like an incredibly painful sort of hemorrhoid!

Hmmm, that's pretty interesting. I guess it is less liked than SotN, OoE and AoS. But to be honest, I'd put it in third, and AoS after that one.

PoR and OoE for me. PoR is like a Castleroid trying to be classic which is great by me and OoE is just great for all it's locations. Both have my favorite Dracula battles for a castleroid as well.

-----------------------POLL UPDATE----------------------------
This one is looking pretty cut and dry, but The Classics Poll has a tight race that needs to play out a bit longer.

symphony of the night, definitely.Probably the best in the series.
-
Aria and Ruin get it for me.
-
my choices for the best ones? well..
SotN and DoS tops the list, hands down.
AoS, PoR and HoD would be close second.
OoE is third on the list.
what would be the choices for the worst ones? well..
it's CotM that tops the list.
Simon's Quest is a distant second.
the reasons why I chosen those like that, is mainly because of the storyline, and sometimes the gameplay; depending on which game you're talking about. I like all of the games, but my choosing of which is best( and maybe worst ), of metroidvania-style gameplay; makes it hard to do so.
so, now you know my opinions about this.

Sotn biggest and most annoying flaw is its too easy...I still think they should go back and ditch the rpg nonsense and go back to classic like megaman did.
-
Megaman got the formula right with Zero, yet it's the shortest of the series thanks to a Tomino style ending to MMZ4... :/
Anywho, DoS? Higher than AoS, PoR, and OoE? What the hell? DoS was a horribly executed, pointless, and rather bland sequel of a game that, even on the GBA, had the better graphics. That's pretty damn sad, IMO.

-------------------------POLL UPDATE--------------------------
Both Polls are now very close to 30 votes. Unfortunately the results have locked into a statistical dead heat in both polls for either first, second, or third place. I'd hesitate to call a race when just a few more votes could make such a big difference. Look for some versus polls if these dead heats continue...

Went with Symphony of the Night, as it is a classic. Defines the entire genre, etc. etc.
Then I went with Order of Ecclesia, it's the most forward thinking Castleroid, in terms of gameplay and definitely doesn't hold back any punches as you start to progress farther into the game. I like that. :D The quest system, which I know didn't start in OoE, is a nice differentiation through out the game. I also like the over world map view allowing you to progress to any level.
Love it.
