*SCREAM*
YES! THEY FINALLY DID IT! ;D 8) :D

This is so great. I never played this first time it came out, and everyone says its the best games in the series. I've only played Red, Leaf Green and Pearl
-
Ooooh..... ooooooohhhh....
Nooooooooooooo not that game.... the hours... the hours of my life lost playing my friend's cartridge...
B-b-b-b-bought.... with great fear.... I hope it's as awesome if not better than Firered/Leafgreen.
-
Oh, It will be better, Jorge. 8)

Yeah, and trust me, R/S/E was probably the worst pokemon generation, so you didn't miss much.

Yeah, I avoided those until I was able to buy cheap pre-owned (and fully-Poke-stocked) Emerald/Ruby/Sapphire versions for like a dollar.
But going through the story mode was annoying as hell... and the monster types and their abilities really got super-stupid in there.
"Yeah he's a rock type but he flies and has psychic powers, yeah!" and "Oh this one is a random evolution that has SuperArmor against everything but only has one hit point, yeah!" XP

This raises a question for me...
I played through Red and Blue back in the day. The delay to Gold/Silver and the middle title of Yellow hurt the Pokemon series for me. As such, I never finished Yellow and only got the first three Gym Badges in Gold. After that, I never picked up Pokemon again. (I found Gold more unnecessarily convoluted than Red/Blue and its map layout seemed to obscure where to go).
All that said, I've been thinking about getting Pokemon Platinum. But now the remakes of Gold and Silver are on the horizon. I'm trying to decide if I should give Gold another chance, or go forward to a completely new experience with Platinum.

What do you mean?
The gatekeepers of saffron don't let you pass until you get one of them a fresh water/soda pop/lemonade, and the Snorlax blocks the way to lavender town. The game made it clear that you had to go through rock tunnel (after going through diglett's cave to pick up the flash HM from prof. Oak's aide on rte. 2.)
Oh and Jorge, I only got emerald version a month after it came out just to see what it was like.

ehh...
one new game I won't be so happy about. Pokemon lost its allure around R/S/E for me, and anything after G/S/C seems somewhat crappy in comparison. Sure, Diamond&Pearl were good games, but nothing can possibly top the first two seasons in originality and quality.
What is there left to possibly do with pokemon? we already have a egg/breeding system, "shiny pokemon", pokemon contests, the safari zone, and everything else in between.
*shrugs*

Nothing to do but remake the 2nd generation! 8)
-
So... yeah... Im not a pokemans fan or anythin... >__> ... <__< ... but what system is this gonna be on? DS I assume?
-
Yeah, it's for DS.

But why did they replace the female trainer they already had in crystal for a new one that looks like a backwoods jailbait hoe.
I don't want to know what else they've screwed up.
This is FR/LG all over again. :(
-
I just hope that they add multiple save files for this game. You'd think that in the 10 or so years these games have been around they would have added that by now
-
Won't happen. >:(
Also, I bet that this female trainer will be another "friendly rival" like the ones in R/S/E and D/P/Pl. :(

I miss the days were the rival was the enemy who literally wanted to do your character physical harm, or at least be snobbish enough to hate.
-
Or When he actually became the Champion and was challenging to boot. 8)
-
Exactly. :D I remember the final battle against Gary being extremely difficult in Red/Blue/Yellow and having to repeat it a couple times before I could win.
-
Yeah, half of lance's team in G/S/C was weak to ice.
Wallace in Emerald was weak to grass and lightning, somewhat common types.
Steven was weak to fire, fighting and ground in R/S.
Cynthia was the only champion recently to type diversify.

Sort of like the 2nd gen rival.
The chick is probably just going to be a random friendly NPC, not a rival. Red Head sonofabitch is still in the game, committing theft, abusing his pokemon and being a general prick.
-
Yeah, but it wouldn't be the same without him.

Cool. G/S/C are my favorite pokemon games next to the original. I hate the new DS games and the last GBA games.
Do you guys know if Leafgreen and Firered are flash memory or battery saves like Golden Sun/CotM on GBA? Goddamn battery saves, gonna eventually lose hours and hours of going through CotM in every mode, and my perfect Golden Sun file with all the Dijinn's.

I'm pissed that they didn't show a trailer at e3. >:(
