I've never played this game more than 30 minutes, watched a couple hours on youtube. I purchase it via ebay from a seller with a 99.6% possitive feedback. Item is described as having "minor surface wear, but will be great to play" Item came in mail 8 days after buy it now purchase in less than playable shape. I cleaned it, would not play. I cleaned it again, would not play.
Item sold for 12.99 plus 4.00 shipping. I've been scrambling for extra cash for the past 6 weeks and I used it for this game. And I get the game and it doesn't play, I was so angry and frustrated that I kicked my humidifier and broke it, I also came very close to smashing my PSX.
life sucks!

I paid for somethin on ebay on the 1st and its still not here. I asked the guy 3 times on 3 different days about shipping and any shipping info and each time he told me itd been shipped that day. Shipped that day... on 3 different days. The last time I asked him itd been 6 days since I paid and payment was confirmed. I still havent got any trackin info on it which he said each time I should get once its shipped...
So I feel ya! I wouldnt go as far as hatin on the game tho psx and ps2 both have shitty lasers your lucky it still reads games at all

Demand a refund from the asshole. If he stated it's playable when it clearly is not, then he should refund your money. If not, file a complaint with E-bay, and leave a bone breaking negative feedback on him.
That will teach him to sell off faulty shit.

I just went ahead and left negative feedback, the cunt now has a 99.2% positive feedback.
I intend on buying sotn, but I'm gonna be more careful next time I buy it, as I basically flushed 17.00 bucks down the toilet.
And I'm gonna go ahead and make sure to get the black label of sotn as that's the more prefered version.
no big deal, life ain't that bad when your worries are your next video game experience. wasting money sucks, but I think I learned something from it.
Read the sellers current feedback, and if their a bit flaky, than look elsewhere.

I had a feeling that would happen. This is why I advised you to save your money until you had enough to buy a psp and a copy of DXC. If you did that, you would be able to play SotN anywhere as long as you had the psp with you and if you had bought the DXC new, it would have worked guarenteed.

Smartass reply: It's obvious that starting three different threads about the same thing in less than two weeks time broke your game.
srs reply: E-mail the guy. If he doesn't refund you, e-mail eBay and/or Paypal. They have policies for this sort of thing, and with some luck you'll be one of the rare occasions where eBay actually does something.

Try and get it resurfaced at a rental place for free or cheap. Mine was a little rough in a few spots and my friend took it in and had it done.

Where are the scratches located? The top of the disc or the bottom? If it's on the top and the information is scratched, then you're screwed. If it's on the bottom and there are just too many scratches/deep scratches you can get it polished up (gets rid of scratches, and cheaper than resurfacing I think too.)

The game is scratched up a bit on the top, but very bad on the bottom. I've cleaned it 3 times and it won't read, period. The PSX won't recognize that there is a disk in it. I wasted money and it might end up being another 2 or 3 months before I have extra money again to buy something, so for now I'm not gonna bother with Sotn.
I've been playing Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams a lot lately, that game has music in it that is just as good if not better than most Castlevania games.

Before you give up, try it in your PC with ePSXe (Playstation emulator).

I fought the good fight now I'm giving up, lol...
I hate wasting money just as much as any of you do, however I've already tried the emulation and I just don't have any luck. It's too complicated or technical for me. However I can watch videos on youtube of Sotn, in fact entire playthroughs so that's not too bad, i guess.

Don't do that: it spoils the game for you when you finally do play it.
There's epic moments of surprise that only playing it the first time can bring.

I bought a used Sega Saturn on eBay and the retard that i bought it from packed it in a paper thin cardboard box with no padding. ::) So needless to say, by the time it reached me the laser was broken and wouldn't read anything. I tried to get my money back but I wasn't successful. But I left him some bad feedback. :-\

If you've got a pc from at least the last 3-4 years ePSXe is the way to go. the emulation on SOTN is perfect, it slows down entering some menu's if you're playing from a cd but if you have the ISO it runs smoothly - also comes with built in gameshark and you can use save states.
It's not particularly difficult to set up, it supports joypads and there's a website you can get all the plugins you need. The Bios SCPH0001 etc can easily be found on most peer to peer clients and that includes the european and japanese bios so it doesn't limit you to an NTSC copy of the game if you can find a cheaper PAL or Jap version.
You can probably find a pre configured ePSXe if you use torrents. I own the game but my bedroom is small so emulating it via this program is nice and convenient, stops me dragging the PS1 out of the cupboard and creating a mess with wires so there's that benefit too.

In a way I'm sort of jealous. I wish I could experience SotN for the first time again, or really any amazing game. It's so hard to find new games being so innovative and amazing these days.

You're on your own finding the Bios tho, those are a little harder to find but like I say.. it is possible. Torrents and peer to peer

It should run SOTN fine. I have run from my original CD and the only slowdown is in the menus and when you pick up a hp max up or whatever they're called ( After killing a boss )

I never realised, I guess when you have all the plugins you need and it runs fine theres not generally a point in checking back every now and again to see if they're still there.
I assume plugins are pretty easy to come across like Peops and the like? google should find them easily enough surely?

Wow, that's really too bad, dude. I actually haven't run into problems with eBay (Lucky me! :P) and I buy majority of my stuff from there.
Anyway, I think the price should have been an indicator of low quality... the game is worth a lot more. But regardless, he should have been more honest. The again, there's a strong possibility he just has no clue what he's doing and though t the game was fine. Doesn't make it any less wrong though.
