yeah I wonder, I know we got teaser media or something and rumors of a console game, but it would be nice if they take advantage of the marketplace for next-gen consoles and
release SOTN-quality original Castlevania games on it.
they would make more money than they do on portables.
this way, they can sustain a new Castlevania made on a yearly basis, and they wouldn't have spend so much on R&D and trying to making a 3-D Castlevania work or something.
but maybe Konami is planning on creating a template for the next generation of Castlevania titles for XBLA and PSN,
with high quality sprites a la Blazblue, but classic
SOTN-like gameplay, with some occasional styles that are
more like CV2's town and open exploration beyond castles, or CV3's classic stage based style also.
they could create a whole empire of new Castlevania titles this way without risking reinventing the wheel in a bad way.
I mean seriously, if something basic like N+ could make
sales on XBLA, so can original Castlevania titles.
plus it would save Konami money from producing disks and
costs of distribution.
sigh, I wonder how cool it would be if Konami just pushed aside MGS and focused their best resources and funding on the Castlevania franchise. but then those idiots would probably think "big budget title = 3-D!" blah. I liked LOI and COD but 2D is better. even better than 2.5D

The new E3 is June 2 - 4 2009.
Let's see what we will see............
-
IGA should do the Kojima!!!
Make a ***** about the new ********** so that **** can be ***** on it. So we have Alucard as the main character and he's going through a **** ********* thingy. ***** Renard and Alucard have *** at the end of the **** and that creates a ***** for a new ********** ****** that will ****** the *** between some time *****.
A **** ******* is created and the ***** is destroyed.

Another game starring Shanoa would be good. She's one of the coolest CV characters in some time.
-
IGA should remind Konami the only reason CV is popular these days is because SOTN (a 2-D game) was released on a console. portable systems don't do these any games justice.

I see you point, and I mostly agree. But I don't think 2D games are just as popular anymore. People today getting into the series, I think if they saw a 2D game on a console might steer clear of it. Unfortunately these days, a lot of kids care only about graphics and blood and violence, and if something like, lets say, Aria of Sorrow would be released on a console, even with better graphics, I just don't think it'd sell as well as something like Devil may Cry.
The handheld has been good to Castlevania, and I'd love to see more 2D games on a console, but I don't think that'll happen, at least not for some time. This is why I'm putting my money on the new CV for PS3/360 being completly 3D. I don't think newer gamers or people that don't play the series would find it as appealing as other games.
I'm sure we'll get a downloadable 2D game at some point, but the big console games will most likely be 3D

We already got a teaser with a 3D Alucard. 2D is out of the question, really.
As for Shanoa;

Shanoa is an LOL character just because of how much she seems to confirm the myth that Iga is a misogynist.
spoilurz hurrr
Out of all the neglected (if not completely retconned) female Castlevania characters, she's the one that was specifically designed in a way so that there is an actual canon explanation for why her win against Dracula goes unnoticed and nobody from the main series knows about her.

I really have to agree with answer number #4. I tend to agree with that one the most. :P

Konami said 3 days ago that its conference will be very very juicy, with many games and announcements for all platafforms; it will be one of the longest conferences of the E3.
Let's wait ;D

yeah well that's good. at least Konami holds Castlevania close to its heart unlike the Nintendo's pathetic relationship with Star Fox. all they think about is wii fit, mario, zelda, metroid, and more wii fit.

it's so easy to make it sound like something is less and more cliched than other things.
You are just as biased as I am. ;D
and Alucard is overrated, just cause he's Dracula's offspring doesn't make his story any less cliche than anyone else's story. the whole offspring killing their parent has been done more times than an orphan raised to become the weapon that defeats Dracula without depending on the vampire killer.
also when did Trevor lose an eye? if you talk about Castlevania Judgement, I don't count that game. that's totally filler and sloppy fanservice.

1.The Glyph system is basically a rehash of all of the other GBAs' and DS' combination combat systems.
2.Original costume? Are you fucking serious? This is one of your defensive arguments? Every character has an "original" costume.
3.Oh please. The "apparent good guy turning out to be the bad guy and vice versa" scenario is nothing original. It's a cliche'.
4.No, the plot twist was not good. As I already stated. It was a cliche'.
5.A drawback to using a certain weapon. Hmmm...sounds familiar. Where did I see this before? Maybe in the previous game, PoR? Morris' and the Vampire Killer ring a bell?
6.So? It's original because the character is a different sex? That's ridiculous. Especially, when she is a rehash of a previous character.
7.The main protagonist of a video game having to save a village!? How original!!!
8.A clan raising and training one of their own to destroy Dracula? Cough*TheBelmonts*Cough
9.Leon was forced to kill his wife, Trevor lost an eye and was stabbed in the heart from behind, Simon was cursed and forced to resurrect and battle Dracula a second time, Richter was put under a spell, destroying the Belmont name and the ability to wield the Vampire Killer for hundreds of years, Alucard had to slay his own father, etc. I see nothing special about Shanoa's sacrifice compared to all the others.
10.Alucard would break Shanoa into pieces.
If you'd like, we can pick through every Castlevania game in the series and find an abundance of overused cliches. Ecclesia is no more guilty of this than SotN.
However, I do think that Shanoa is one of the better Castlevania characters. At least relative the stars of the other DS entries. I do really like her outfit; it looks good. The long, flowing hair is a nice touch. She's sexy without looking completely slutty like most Japanese game characters; I appreciate that. I can take her seriously as a dangerous woman but still enjoy looking at her. I think the artist did a great job on the visuals of the character.
In personality, all right, she's a little cliche (omg wut happen 2 my emotions!!!!!11) but at least she's a huge step up from the pathetic PorK personalities, and she's way more badass than Soma. Who was a major douche.
But I do have to agree that Alucard could rip Shanoa to shreds.
-
He doesn't lose the eye, he clearly has a working eye/vision back in Curse of Darkness. It's just temporarily disabled because of the giant healing scar around it.
And since Judgment Trevor is in between CV3 and CoD, it makes sense that the patch is there healing it.
And as of all your points guys, you're really overanalyzing. Still, it's a nice debate. Carry on.
-
Shanoa is unique in that she lost her emotions relatively recently. There's a lot of characters who simply aren't very emotional to begin with, or lost their emotions years ago due to some kind of childhood traumatic experience, but Shanoa's experience is more sad since it "just happenned now".

hey check this out. imagine a new CV with these kinda smooth animations!

That looks badass, I wish they would do a CV game to the quality.

I agree with all but 10
My reason is this. She would approach Alucard and he would pull the same "I have a cursed bloodline" and all that jazz. She would feel overwhelmingly attracted to him thus he would bang her....ever so sweetly. Then when he left he would say that he would call her sometime. But that call will never come for poor Shanoa.
Thus he would only break her heart into pieces not her.
