ya know, it could be a redesigned version of the mask Dracula wore in the Original Castlevania, Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest,(even though he looked like Death in that game lol) and Super Castlevania 4. i mean u can clearly see it if u look close in the game, and u can also see Dracula wearing it on the manual of the japanese version of Akumajou Dracula for the Famicom Disk System. OR it could be that mask boss thing from Castlevania 2, And Rondo Of Blood with the woman on top of it. so maybe the mask part of the story will explain why Dracula's face is so fu**ed up like in the old games when u get his health down low. that's my best guess since ive been a long time fan of the Akumajou Dracula/Castlevania series since it's debut in Japan in 1986, so yea, i can't really explain it too well, but it's my only guess i suppose. post your suggestions and tell me what u think.

What is it all of a sudden where people think Dracula wore a mask? He never wore a mask! If you're thinking of anything, you're probably thinking of the Carmilla mask from Simon's Quest.
Once again, here are pictures:

No Masks
Here's probably what you're thinking of from Simon's Quest:

Sorry, I think I started this whole Dracula mask thing. Although I still think it could be a mask he's wearing in the first one as I said in the main topic. It does look like there's a strap around the back of his head holding it in place... But it's not that way in any of the other games.
But yeah, Camilla's mask seems the more likely reference. It was in 2 and Dracula X. I guess we won't know the truth until further information about the game is released though. It could be a whole new thing altogether.

it's also cleverly cameo'd in Harmony of Dissonance, and Carmilla herself uses it as an Iron Maiden weapon in Judgment.

You are referring to Dracula's Disembodied head? In the first game it floats up out of the coffen and his cape and hands materialize out of no where.
I don't think that is a strap but his hair. True the way his hair connects to his face does make his face look kinda mask like. However, I think they were trying to go for the exagerated version of the haircut and appearance that Bela Lugosi sported in Universal's Dracula.

[sarcasm]Something about that mask reminds me of Dio Brando. I just can't put my finger on it, though. [/sarcasm]

For me, something about the mask reminds me of the Fused Shadow mask/helmet from Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess...
