Did anybody get lucky and purchase theirs today?
-
In Reply To #1
It ships today
but it doesn't me its released.
Just wait until tomorrow.
-
Though the game's release date is today, DXC actually comes out tomorrow, the 24th.
-
Yeah today's the shipping date, not the sale date.
-
Ive actually read on the gamefaqs board that a few people got theirs today.....lucky for them. The main question I have for them is if Richter has the saturn costume in SotN.
-
In Reply To #5
If the shipping is handled properly with no delays and such, then the game might become available later tonight. So I would check my local game stores just to make sure.
-
Anyone know the minimum firmware required for this game?
-
In reply to #6
I actually got mine on gamestop.com, anyone know how long it will take to get here?
In reply to #7
Ive heard 3.52

Yeah, I called my store yesterday and they don't get them until tomorrow.(the 24th) I'm taking the bus to the local EB and hopefully buying it. I might be like, 5-10$ short though >< canadian Eb has DXC for 49.99, whereas the American's get it for 29.99 O.O. Hopefully the guy on the phone I talked to was wrong, and DXC is in the 29-39.99 dollar range.
-
score 1 for Konami
-
Heheh, I'm actually giddy about this, because this is one of the very few Castlevanias I'll be able to play ON halloween. :D ;D
-
I was at my local Game Crazy like 10 minutes ago, but they didn't have the game... yet. Seems like I have to wait until tomorrow like everyone else. =P
-
goto walmart about midnight youll probably get it
-
yea it came out 2day but gamestop prob wont have it till tomorrow here i cant wait i preodered it too omgosh im so nervous i cant wait u know how like its like a day or two before a game u want comes out and it feels longer like xmas or something man lol cant wait
-
Everyone buying it will more than likely get it tomorrow. Though people are downloading it and playing today. Darn pirates...
-

^^ Someone likes caffeine pills.
Kamirine, I think pirating sucks. I understand if the game isn't being released here or something, but otherwise, they should seriously suffer some consequence.
Soundtracks are one thing, a whole game is another.

I'm actually pissed about the prices in Canada lately. The Canadian dollar is the highest it's ever been ($1.03 US!) but the stores are still charging about 125-150% more for stuff. For games, that's a LOT. If the cost is the dollar value is the same why the hell should we spend $10-20 more for our games?
On a side note, I'm quivering in anticipation for tomorrow. ;)
-
I heard they were playing a leaked Korean version. (them pirates)
-
...people are downloading it and playing today.
Really? So I guess PSP emulation is better than the DS front, eh? Anyone know anything abous this? (No, I don't want to get into a "how to" of rom hacking, just curious about the current state of the PSP emulation scene)
-
In Reply To #19
I don't know anything about hacking the DS, but yeah, PSP's homebrew community is huge and still growing.
-
uhhh guys. i just got an email from amazon saying that the game hasnt shipped yet and will ship 12/5/2007. lord please let this be a hiccup by amazon.
-
I was disappointed, because from what i have seen at the site of the official importer for Konami at Greece, it was having 30 November as released date for Dracula X.
But then i remembered a site that i have got my DS and paid a visit at them and i found out, that they were shipping the game to Europe, including Greece and i order it there. I send the money today, so i'll have the game about friday or mondey! ;D
-

Nah, I think they mean they download their games to a card and play them on their actual psp's.
-

I was thinking about pirating it because I'm poor and between jobs right now(and I got soaked on PoR when it came out)and actually buying it later. :-X But I'm gonna pony up and buy it today. Not that American Express needs any more reasons to love me, now they'll have 30 more. :P
-
My copy is on the UPS truck on it's way now! ;D
-
In Reply To #25
Well, as soon as my get my copy later today, I can just dump it in my memory stick. That way I don't have to carry the UMD around, and just play the game via the memory stick. =)
Hey, I don't want my DXC getting all scratchy and worn out. ;)
-
Got it!
-
Got mine, stage one cleared. Love the game so far!
I have to go back to work, but will play more later! :)
-
well i'm broke so i downloaded it.lol
but when i get the money i'll buy it i have a thing about owning things. :P
plus if you don't buy it they may not make anymore if they don't make the money.
but right now i downloaded it but all the rips right now don't have sotn or rob just the remake.
so what can you do wait for a full rip.lol
-
FINALLY got it, after waiting there for over an hour. Luckily I've known the 2 guys at EB... er... GameStop for years upon years. I was so pissed to find out that one of them got a DX:C case signed by IGA in Las Vegas. >:(
-
Every place in my city says next week. :(
-
I got my copy. I had to pester 'em all efin' morning 'til UPS came in :P
-
It's been a long time since I played a video game for this long.
-
None of the stores I went to had it. :'( Guess I'll have to tide myself over with that GoW demo until tomorrow. Hopefuly by then it'll be in stores.
-
Ahm..Metepec's City "Game Planet" will have it tonigth, but in Toluca's City "GamerWorld" have it tomorrow, and give free a random CV guide book if you have pre-buyed it..
Anyways, tonigth is the nigth...ahm..btw, someone knows if "The Den" remix is great or bad?
-
Well I didn't get the commercial release of the game today, but I did get a pre-order bonus for it locally.
Kind of cool really, I was buying Capcom Classics Remixed on PSP at Gamestop and inquired about DXC offhand, and the preorder bonus being limited (I didnt preorder). I got into a little conversation about it and the Gamestop employee gave me his new CV2 Simon for signing up for the Gamestop card. (I'm in there often enough)
It's likely he gets a commission or whatnot for signing people up, but it was still cool of him to give up his own bonus.
+1 positive Gamestop stories.

FACT: Gamestop employees do NOT get commission for the Discount Card/Game Informer subscriptions we sell, or reservations we take!
-
That's pretty cool of him then to do that, considering theres nothing in it for him from corporate.
I hear a lot of bad things about Gamestop but the one time I ever dealt with them regarding preorder stuff it went great. Go figure, they've got my business now anyway.
-
I got it until Friday, because i'm borrowing my friend's psp. I found the Original Game, but I can't seem to locate SotN. Can someone help me out please? Oh, and what do you do about those annoying blood skeleton doors?

or maybe i just have bad luck.lol
i went to eb games alot and i went to gamestop and said eb games had better game.

Really? Can you link me to that, please?
But I remember reading from somewhere that there is no code or cheat of any kind that will unlock SotN, as well as Rondo... I dunno how true is that.
Anyway, I've only been playing for a couple of hours. And I really want to see the revamped SotN; but alas, studying for a Psychology quiz comes first.
College life rocks, but it sucks most of the time.
-
PFG how did you unlock Symphony?
-
In Reply To #46
It's in level 3'. Remember towards the end of the level past the spiked balls, you see a moss-covered thing suspended by vines? (There's a White Dragon in that area...remember?) You need to have either the cross or axe subweapon, and use them to strike the vines, which will lower the platform. Go across the top part to the tombstone at the end, strike it and lo and behold, SotN appears.
-
One and half hour since I got my copy..nice..no Den..in clock tower, I'm sad for that...unlocked SotN...In search for Rondo, any one have idea where is it?

Or just use Maria and her double jump. :)

Highlight:
It's in the level with all the spikes and traps and stuff, the dungeon area. You know the spot where there's a fleaman on a ledge sitting on a switch? Hit that switch and follow that path. Eventually you'll get to an area with a spikeball and a platform suspended from the floor and crisscrossing back and forth. Get on the right side of that structure and whip the bottom of the wall on the right. A bomb will appear. Whip the bomb to light the fuse. Follow that path, get on the upper part of the screen. All the way to the right is a candle, just above the door that leads out of this section. That candle has Original Rondo in it.
-
Under the cheats and codez section for DXC, they do list instructions on how to unlock SOTN.
-
Having tons of fun with the game, but currently on break after playing for 9 straight hours on my off time, found some music, unlocked both games, and saved all 4 girls, Drac had a nasty surprise for me just when I thought I had taken him out, the evil bastard (yeah I eventually beat him), I actually like his surprise though.
-
I managed to snag the very last copy my local Game Stop had somehow! But I've been absolutely LOVING the remake! I'm a big proponent of Castlevania going 3D but if 2.5D stuff in future games looks and plays like this, I"ll happily jump on board!

Yep, I agree. It has something to do with how things are bought with the dollar now, retailers have to pay more for some reason or other.
Though today I headed over to EB 'cause the guy on the phone said they had 24 new game boxes in, and that DXC was in one of them. So, I caught the bus down there. Thing is TWENTY of those boxes were Guitar Hero 3, and none of the rest were DXC =/. So I pre-ordered(LOL) and headed down from EB to the bus stop, but surprisingly, the bus stop was removed from below the mall. I mean, what in the hell? So I walked to the nearest bus stop, waited over 40 minutes, to realize the busses stopped for that stop. So I had to walk for over an hour to the nearest bus stop, all of this, just for DXC. But, the stores don't have it yet -.-.
-
The countdown begins for how long it'll be before some people start bashing this game :P
I'm just waiting for the dust to clear...
-
Well, EB says Oct 31st, which I find hard to swallow. Best Buy says Monday, Future Shop says it's in transit (so anyday now). Zellers, Walmart and Superstore have no clue.
So I guess I'm checking each everyday until I get it. Though my preorder is at EB, I doubt I can wait until the 31st.
I've never wanted a game so much. I'm actually considering driving 4 hours down to Minot and buy it there.
-
I've never wanted a game so much.
I know what you mean. While I can't go quite that far myself, I've been looking forward to this game far more than anything since Chronicles. I love the Castleroids, but there's absolutely nothing like a "new" classic style Castlevania.
And this one really lived up to my expectations. And then some, actually.
-

Walmart wont have it in stores. Check on their site its online only where you can get it and its available.

I picked it up today along with a used PSP slim...
Jeez, the voice acting in SotN was NOT improved at all.
-
friend let me borrow his psp, and
I can seriously say I haven't had this much fun with a Castlevania game in a while. I love all the little touches they added, how nice the game looks, and how well it plays.
Good job Konami. I'm buying a copy of this game and I only have a DS LOL
-

I've heard the intro and the ending, and I'd say that the voice acting has slightly improved. The new script sucks, though.
-

Nope, she's right. In-game dialogue sucks.
-
I like the new dialogue. It's a weclome and refreshing different flavor from the original voices that have been heard for too long.
-
While Dracula, Death, and Shaft (especially Death) have been improved, hearing such a juvenile voice emit from him...well, it's just not Alucard. Robert Belgrade spoke in a monotone at times, true, but his empty coldness and deep voice embodied Al more than a high pitched younger voice.
My biggest bellyache- the previous "WHAT!?"is now a "wha..."
-
I just got mine in the mail yesterday.
Now I just need a PSP...
-
For the most part I think the dialogue is just as bad as the original. But there are some parts that are improved, like the Succubus lines. It's also nice to finally get a little verbal exchange with Death before you kick his ass. It always felt weird that he takes all your crap at the beginning of the game and threatens you and all, then when you finally catch up with him he doesn't say a word to you.
-
In Reply To #68
In the original SotN when you get to Death, Alucard DOES converse with him..
-
I only own Castlevania: Dracula X for the SNES and Dracula X: Rondo of Blood for the PCE and I need to get Castlevania: The Dracula X Chonicles for the PSP and try out the remake. :)
The remake really should of had the graphics animation, character spites etc like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night but it's better than nothing I guess. 8)
-
What I love about the original VA's was that they had that unique allure associated with the characters, despite the dialogue itself.
It would've been interesting if they somehow got the original actors to speak the new lines :P
-
I actually think the opposite; the original script had more flair than the curent one, it was just saddled with some of the worst acting this side of Daddy Day Camp. People love to quote the old conversation between Dracula and Richter, but if you were to have read it without seeing the intro it's pretty serious.

That's in the PlayStation version? Damn, I need to play through that game again.
-
I'm listening to the SotN credits song, and I have to say it's pretty excellent. Almost reminds me of Condemned Tower from DoS. It's eons upon eons better than 'I Am the Wind.'
-
i thought "I am the wind" was good, but it didnt fit with the game at all unless one of the major themes in SOTN is about Maria helping Alucard to discover an emotion called "love" LOL
As for the new credit song, I agree. It fits and sounds excellent.

Huh. Well, okay then. I guess I completely forgot about that. But still, there should be a little more than just that between them.
-
I'm trying to beat the Boss Rush modes in order to get the remaining soundtracks and also finally unlock the "third" game which is supposedly "Akoumajou Dracula Peke"
The little game which appeared in the original Rondo when you inserted the wrong system card.
At least it's what Gamefaqs says.
:-\
Also...just a random thought, isn't Dracula supposed to look more similiar to HoD Drac? After all, Rondo of Blood takes place after Juste's fight. Again, just a random thought.
-
Sadly i'll ahve the game today if all goes well sicne the stores here have it but won;t sell it to me, "sorry but you'll ahve to wait till halloween to fight dracula"
quote the angry video game nerd: "ASSS"
-
I would love to get it... but im not willing to pay that much money for a psp to play 1 game cause nothing else interest me on psp... but i would LOOOOOVE to play it.
-
Yay. :o
After having beaten Boss Rush Normal 3 times, I've finally unlocked the THIRD and FINAL ORIGINAL game!
Akumajaou Dracula Peke or whatever:

FINALLY got the game. Everthing about it is amazing. The amount of hidden stuff in a level based game is unbelievable. Such a great remake. The cutscenes intermixed in the gameplay are just icing on the cake. 100% presentation.
I actually like playing SOTN on the PSP over the PSP, 360 and Saturn. It controls so sweet. I can pull off the spells with surprising ease. Even the soul steal. I don't know why people have so much problems with the PSP's d-pad. And yup, I have the 1000 model, not the slim. No problem.
And as a ranter about keeping the originals as they should be, I feel they did good with the original Rondo. Some things changed, mostly voices, but it seems more of an actual port than an emulation.
I can't get enough of this game. I've played it for 8 hours so far, and will probably be playing it throughout all day tomorrow. :P
My new favorite Castlevania game.
-
Indeedn it is great, the only thing i hate about itand i've mentioned it enough after this i think is the mist transformation.
-
In Reply To #85
The PSP's D-Pad is horrible!
I have a SHITLOAD of trouble trying to perform the Hellfire spell! LIKE JEEZ LOUISE!
But the game(s) is(are) sweet!
And Galamoth is still killing me.
Sucks monkey-fuck.
-
I dunno. Guess for some reason the d-pad works better for me than everyone else. Either my PSP is working better than all others by pure fluke, or I somehow use the d-pad differently. I don't even have to press hard to get the diagonals, which I hear a lot of people have to do. Maybe I wore the PSP in playing too much Gradius. :P
Either way, I'm totally enjoying the game. ;)
-
Yeah, I have no trouble with the d-pad either. I guess you can't please everybody ::)
-
A few things on the original Rondo that I noticed. Though it seems like it's a port over an emulation IMHO, there's some flaws.
-Some backgrounds noticably (but slightly) darken when they're scrolling. Since I tend to blaze through Castlevania games all the time, I find it barely noticable.
-Besides the rescue cutscenes, the cutscenes' sound are slightly out of sync. Why? Not an emulation problem, but a PSP loading problem. The video starts, then you hear the UMD spin up. Makes the cutscenes off by about a second. But hey, the emulated versions we've been playing for years aren't much better. You can also notice about half a second of silence before each level (even in the remake and SOTN), before the music starts. Nothing big.
Other than that, I absolutely love what they did with the original Rondo. The voices and new sounds are great. Just don't know why they replaced the voices in the opening cutscene. It's german either way. Copyright issues perhaps?
-
In Reply To #88
Are you playing on a Slim or Fat PSP? Cuz the Fat PSPs (at least the two that I've owned) have no diagonal mapping for the D-Pad.
-
I found the controls good and I used the fat PSP. :\
-
I have a fat PSP. I had a slim for about 2 days, then took it back because it was shit.
-
-Some backgrounds noticably (but slightly) darken when they're scrolling.
I totally agree with you on that.
On Stage 2, at the beginning the crows BLEND with the dark background everytime it scrolls.
-
Oddly enough, I remember that happening the first time I played Stage 2. But earlier today I was blazing through it and there was no darkening whatsoever on that stage. I saw the crows just fine.
It seems to be an intermittent problem. A battery thing perhaps? I remember that when I was playing it today it was plugged in. No problem. Last night with just the battery, darkening backgrounds. I'll have to look more into it.
-
So, anyone else love the Nose Demon?
"What's this, a switch? I prefer shiny red buttons but this will do."
LOL!
-
Damn it, I still can't beat Drac's 3rd form in DXC yet. I haven't even cracked open SOTN (don't hurt me, I know I know) but I did get my hands on the OST and nearly cried when I heard Opus 13. (Not cause it sounds bad, but because it's actually there...)
And March of the Holy Man gave me shivers. XD
For those that have gotten far: did they add Alucard's spear in the game? (SOTN)
-
Nothing's added in SOTN except Maria as a boss and playable character, and two japanese-exclusive familiars.
No Alucard Spear, no Rainbow Cloak, no nothing.
-
...Then I suppose by 'new weapons' they meant for Maria only. Ah well.
-
So, anyone else love the Nose Demon?
"What's this, a switch? I prefer shiny red buttons but this will do."
LOL!
They made up that dialogue as well? :| The new translation is so disgusting...
-
Then again, the Nose Demon in the original Japanese SoTN was for humor too so...
-
OMG they took out mathew 16:26!
-
i dont know if anyones mentioned it before, but Dark Alex has enabled full screen in SOTN. it involves dumping your own disk, and patching it.
-
OMG they took out mathew 16:26!
Considering Dracula NEVER mentioned the Bible in the original, I guess it's fine. ;)
-
What sucks is that when you save Richter in the original script, he mentions Ralph, his ancestor. It was nice for the US SOTN to say Trevor, but the new DXC Richter didn't even say it.
Just a minor detail, but it affects me.... :'(
-

I don't really mind the borders around the game. It's not really that big of a deal..

-
What original? the japanese? who cares? It fitted so freaking well.
Fitted? The prince of darkness talking about the Bible? Fuck no. :D And yeah, I was talking about the Japanese script, which was endlessly raped by both translations. :/
-
CORRECTION! The prince of Darkness who was part of teh crusades.
Thats what Lament of Innocence said right? I get the games confused sometimes.
-
I never played Lament of Crap, and I still don't see why the incarnation of all evils should say anything related to the Bible at all. ???
-
I don't see why not, the bible is a text. Not to mention it has some very nice quotes.
-
I never played Lament of Crap, and I still don't see why the incarnation of all evils should say anything related to the Bible at all. ???
Perhaps, but then again why does he have a Chapel adorned with crosses and religious imagery in his Castle in the first place?
And I liked Lament of Innocence.
-
I don't see why not, the bible is a text. Not to mention it has some very nice quotes.
It might be nice. Still it wasn't at all in the original dialogue, so I don't see why he would ever say something like that while he's dying. Really, I don't see the point of his many quotes when the original character had NONE.
Perhaps, but then again why does he have a Chapel adorned with crosses and relgious imagery in his Castle in the first place?
Probably because it's a heretic Chapel, I guess. I mean, how could a holy place be full of monsters? :P
-
..I never played Lament of Crap...
::)
-
Apparently some of us haven't noticed that Castlevania pretty much revolves around the Church and the Christian ideas of Heaven and Hell, good vs evil....which would actually make sense that they mention the Bible...
-
Dracula in Castlevania used to be religious and revered God (why else would he be a tactician for an army fighting in the CRUSADES?). I'm pretty sure he remembers quite a bit about the Bible.
-
The reason he said a quote from the Bible was to show that he still remembers his life as Mathias, despite the fact that he has forsaken God (or vise-versa). Atleast, that's the way I see it.
-

That's what the translators thought, not him. There's a big difference there. ;)
-
Finally! :D I have the game! It took so long to get here from Canada - shipped on Oct 25th and came today - Nov 5th. The game is so amazing :-) I have already played half of Rondo before so I knew what to expect - but I am very very satisfied to have this great compilation of Castlevania games!
P.S. I almost kissed the postman when I encountered him with the game..nah,just kidding ;D But I had a huge grin from the moment I realized the game was here until I opened it and put in the PSP and began to plaaaaaaaay. I am still in heaven :)
