Title: Castlevania-like Oldschool Homebrew (youtube link)
Post by: Jorge D. Fuentes on August 05, 2009, 04:32:05 PM
I was linked to this.
This is pretty great, have you guys seen it?

There's a demo available already, it seems.  Very oldschool.  Don't fall into the spikes.

Very Castlevania-ish game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qr1xJgG9gg)

Looks nice, but the tiles and everything look very ugly. I also don't like the main character's design. She looks like some sort of clown. Also, why are those little girls shooting peanuts out of their crotches?

Sounds like some of you don't know what Touhou Project is.

http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Touhou_Wiki

This game is a crossover parody of Castlevania and Touhou.  Reimu Hakurei is the main heroine, battling through the Scarlet Devil Mansion with her gohei as a whip.

Here's some "official" art for the game:

The art looks so much like Ayami Kojima.

DOOD THAT SHIT TOTALLY OWNS IN ITS OWN SPECIAL WAY.  It's like Princess from Mario 2 with Metroid Fusion and Cool Stuff.  O_O

Just finished playing the demo. GAWD DAYAM! It took me the first continue just to get the feel of it. But the second time round I had it nailed. The character animations are smooth and she controls very well. Also the red sparkle collecting reminds me of God of War. It's a damn shame its only a demo. I want to play the full game!!  :D

The official site for the game is now open.

This seems to be a sweet combination of old-school Rondo-like Castlevania action and Touhou-style bullet hell that takes up the entire screen.

Couldn't help but notice that your icon is none other then MegaMari. Also another fan game I find interesting though I've never played it.  :)

Is it me or does the music appears to use samples from Rondo of blood stage 1

The issue with the tiles are that they're too smooth and too gradiated. Beyond that, they look acceptable.
And the forest scene looks very nice.

Konami should give this give the license to be able to call itself a Castlevania game the same way they did that to Lords of Shadows.

Oh, and that was a joke, I know that's not what happenned..

I played the normal version of the game and got to the IV level.
