Title: M. YAMANE?
Post by: Eric Roman on November 18, 2009, 08:58:41 AM
Okay, so everyone loves Michiru Yamane for what she managed to do with the Bloodlines cart and a room full of live musicians (for SotN), but I did a bit of thinking last night and it occured to me...what exactly did she manage to do for the Super NES, which sported a more developed sound system?

Educate me!

I don't think she did either of the CV titles for those.

Do we know exactly how she did the Bloodlines soundtrack?  Did she actually compose the synths that were used in the game, or was it more like PoR, where she wrote the music and programmers reduced it down to cartridge quality?

Because it's entirely possible that her only early work was on the Genesis.

Pretty sure Bloodlines is where she began. (Not at Konami but on the CV series.) I think I read something about her having helped with the sound programming on the game, but I think other folks took charge of that. Pretty sure she just composed the music and then some others converted it to the Genesis sound system, though she watched, learned, and contributed what she could, though I could be wrong.

Also...live musicians? Isn't SOTN all synthesized?

EDIT: Never mind, just remembered it was from the POR bonus package art book that I read about her Bloodlines contributions. Just checked and she said she had worked on every aspect of the audio for that game (converting the music to the sound system, creating sound effects, all that).

I know she did music for the Twinbee games as well, perhaps she did music for Pop N Twinbee on the SFC, but I've never finished the game to find out.

I doubt it...::gestures towards the elec-rockness in The Tragic Prince, especially::...or else that's some MIDI card!

Wikipedia says she worked on Sparkster, but that is as far as her SNES contributions go (if you choose to believe wikipedia at all...). I always though she did the Pop'n'Twinbee soundtrack, which was RAD, but I guess not.
