Title: Collector's Items
Post by: crisis on December 24, 2009, 07:29:56 PM
Do any of you go out of your way to get the limited edition CV stuff that's floating around on the net?

I wish the VK whip licensed by Konami was still available.. I let that goodie slip by when I had the chance. Now if you're lucky to see one on ebay, it could go for over $100 easily.

Same with the 8-bit Simon figure they released with DXC. Still available, but for how long? Japan received an entirely different set of goodies, which is even rarer to find now.

Was lucky enough to snag the PoR preorder bonus upon release. They're still available here & there, but in a few years they're gonna become harder to find..

Recently seen a SotN Tiger Handheld on ebay, for the low price of $1,000... Only the true die-hard CV fan own this :/

Well, if there is a CV game whose music I like a lot and someone on this forum has the album and provides a link to download it from the website or if I find the album on iTunes (only happened with DXC), I will download it.  I will not go online and pay a premium price for a import from Japan just to have extra stuff like the album.  It's just too much money and I don't know what websites to go to.  However, as I said, if I like the album and I see it on iTunes or someone on this forum posts it on a website like rapidshare and provides a link, then I will likely download it and burn it on to CDs.

I try to get my hands on whatever I can. I have both the 8-Bit Simons in their packages, and thankfully I got the VK Whip when it was still on the Konami site, and I'm happy to have all 4 of the Prize Collection figures. I love finding new CV things. My collection is at around 67 things, including games and items, which is a decent amount but nothing close to some of the collections I've seen

I go way out of my way.  I have 213 official CV items, and 5 unofficial ones.  I've spent a lot of money on my collection, but I also really enjoy it.  Not just the collection itself, but the "hunt" for something new or rare is fun also.  I have to admit though, this new soundtrack collection coming out next year will be the most I've spent on any one CV item, and I'm not really looking forward to dropping that much coin on one thing.  But I'm still going to do it, because I know I'll regret it if I don't.

The only thing I regret about my collection is that I don't have a place to display it all.  I have a couple items out, but most of it is packed safely away waiting for the day when I can display it properly.

If it's Castlevania and I catch it in time, I buy it. XD It's about one of the few things I collect for other than dolls and dvd box sets. And video games and systems.

I used to collect everything and anything Castlevania that I could get my hands on, even stuff like the Japanese official strategy guides and posters and magazines featuring CV.  But I stopped collecting around the time that the NECA figures came out, and I'm actually considering selling off my collection now to buy a sparkly rock.  If I do, I'll probably list my collection here to give you gang the first pick at the stuff.  And yes, the whip will be one of the first things I sell.  I dunno why I ever bought that stupid thing in the first place.

Ha ha. That's what I thought when I first saw the thing. "Wow, that's retarded."

I buy da Cee-Deez. I also like getting preoder swag on any game I want. I don't really get any CV stuff unless it's cool, though, and within a reasonable price range, which it often isn't.

Aside from the figures and the pre-order bonuses, I don't collect much at all. Just the games themselves, and in some cases (like the NES games), that doesn't even include box or booklet. If I see something CV-related somewhere (like the comic), I'll pick it up. But I really don't browse auctions or anything like that. I got burned on some soundtracks (they were pirated versions) a while back and haven't really had the nerve to look for collectibles since.
