Title: At long last....
Post by: Dracul on January 12, 2010, 03:37:27 PM
Well yesterday i was digging through archives of old emails and files i had on discs.  A low and behold I found the source code to Obreck's Super Vampire Killer version 4.  Now i know for a time that the source for version 3 or was it 3_1 was available.  Hopefully people can find any of the code useful for own projects, just don't be c*nty and change just the title screen and claim its your own.  And give credit where credit is due etc...  great find albeit several years late  :o.  It was made with an earlier form of game maker I believe 5 or 6, now they are up to 8 so a lot has changed, but maybe it still useful; plus I'm an archiver of CV stuff so i'm thrilled i found it.  It runs at 640x480 fullscreen with 16 bit colors, so keep that in mind for newer systems.  I also included a version of game maker that i know opens it up in a useable format in a seperate zip.

ftp://castlevania.game-host.org/Misc/Gmaker53.zip (ftp://castlevania.game-host.org/Misc/Gmaker53.zip)

I still do have an ftp running tho i need to go through and update the files from backups due to a malignant hard drive crash (I have everything backed up tho).

Oh wow.  I can't believe you archived these.  Good job, dude.
Also, long time no see.  Nice to see you 'round these parts, stranger. :)

Tch.. Obreck can kiss it. He abandonded the project without telling anyone to work on some silly Mugen crap. Also, there were three new levels to be added into the next build of the game. I completed the graveyard stage, and colosseum stage. The colosseum was going to be just like CotM's and the Nest of Evil from Portrait of Ruin, and at the end, you would have to fight a doppleganger of whichever character you are using at the time. The boss for the Graveyard stage was the Minotaur with all new attacks.

Obreck had completed a stage called the Dwelling of Doom, which was going to be just like the mansions from CV2 in layout. The boss was Pazuzu from Harmony of Dissonance. It looked really amazing. I believe the next version was also going to include Leon Belmont, and Alucard as playable characters.

Oh, and I think Ralph was working on a Lake Bridge stage too.

Too bad it all went down the toilet. I tried contacting Obreck about it, but he just ignores my messages.
