As we all know, Dracula is suppose to be the "Lord of all Vampires" as well as the Dark Lord. However, have any of you noticed, with the exception of the N64 games, that there are very few vampires aside from Dracula in the games. You would think that there would be more vampires.

This is a good point, an excellent one. I don't know why game sites ofter cite Castlevania as "Vampire killing saga" or things like that, and, apart from Dracula and ocassional vampires (The man from OOE, Brauner, Olrox...) there are no vampires, or worse, the vampire myth is unused, vampires are just "another type of creatures" the same as spider womans and motorcycle riding skeletons.
Hope LOS could fix that, it's true, CV doesn't need to turn into Anne Rice, and I like the mix of monsters in the saga, but more vampires, and the relationship between Dracula and them could be very cool :)

I can't say it enough Olrox being in symphony of the night and having his own part of the castle was an AWESOME and well done idea.
It should be done more and i'd love to see him back specifically.
Lords of shadow is supposed to change that anyways, having seen that gigantic vampire pic that isn't dracula that already confirms theres more of a focus.
it would just be nice to have TALKING vampires with intellect.

What about Carmilla, Succubus and Lily (or whatever her name was). Are they vampires, or just random evil chicks? Also, Joachim? I never finished LoI... can't remember what he was.
But yeah, it's weird that the vampire theme is so vague... maybe Konami thought that having little vampires running around as minions would take away the epicness of Dracula.
Olrox is actually a much cooler vampire than Dracula. He should have his own game.
Also, I kinda liked how Brauner looked like Nosferatu in the painting that spins and hoovers around when you fight him. I wish there was a screenshot of it, maybe there is. Too tired to google.

There's Jiang Shi, Stella/Loretta, Elizabeth, Carmilla, Brauner, Olrox, Vincent (only for a while), Gilles De Rais, Joachim, Walter, and I'm sure there's a few more mentioned in the mangas.
What do the fans prefer more: killing an army of mythic creatures that vary shape & size, or killing an army of vampires that all have human forms & behave the same (with a few exceptions)?
Perhaps the real question is, why didn't Dracula turn Hector & Isaac into vampires?

The Succubus isn't a vampire. She's a female demon. But I agree that there should be an entire horde of vampires gathered to worship their lord and master; Dracula. You can imagine that you make it to Dracula's top-most tower and just as you make your way to the stairs you are ambushed by all these vampires who're the last line of defense of castlevania. That would be one hell of a fight.

Just gonna take a shot at what you are getting here, you mean vampires as lesser enemies? If that the case yes other then 64 titles there weren't many slave vampires.

Yes and No. I would like to see a few more vampire bosses (like Orlox who are in positions of power, yet loyal to Dracula), but I would also like to see more as lesser enemies.

i think the long history of vampire killing by the Belmont Clan has reduced their numbers significantly in Europe. Dracula is also no friend of vampires in general. At least according to the Portrait of Ruin timeline, he basically fed off of their power each time a Belmont slayed one for 400 years, starting with Walter. The rise of the Belmont clan appears to also have been all part of Dracula's plan.

maybe the belmonts are actually a long line of "medusa head slayers" primarily, and then starting vampires as a side gig.
or theres no vampires because they know to stay out of simon and family's way when they are on the hunt for dracula.

it seems like Dracula was very smart to begin with, but then became way to overconfident after he amassed his powers. putting aside Legend's canon issues for now, i think one of his next acts was to try to exterminate the Belmont Clan once they played their part. the Japanese version of Legends says that Dracula's forces killed Sonia's grandfather. the synopsis for Dracula's Curse animation said that Trevor was "the last of the Belmonts". can't take that for canon, but it might be based on something correct and it did take the Pope "forever" to find a Belmont in the Japanese story for Dracula's Curse. i could see Dracula succeeding in wiping the males of the Belmonts out and then thinking he was safe from them. but he didn't figure on a daughter of the family Sonia Belmont, who had "special gifts" (perhaps enough to overcome whatever male-to-male restrictions on the succession of the Vampire Killer that existed) to be able to continue the fight and become the mother of a line of Belmonts capable of matching Dracula every time he rose his head.
oh, and when I was researching my own family in the Netherlands, I found out that it was a tradition for a woman to pass down her name in order to prevent a family name from becoming extinct. that might have been why Sonia passed her last name to Trevor.

Wow, awesome theory. Good job on that Reinhardt! I'm from the Netherlands too but I didn't even knew that.
