What games have you beaten on Hard Mode (or Crazy Mode or 2nd Quest, whatever)?
- Legacy of Darkness (With Henry)
- Harmony of Dissonance
- Aria of Sorrow (New Game+)
- Order of Shadows

Don't even get me started on playing CV3 on hard mode. I had my loincloth handed to me on a silver platter on the first stage by those stupid Trevor-seeking skulls that replaced the Medusa heads. And it doesn't stop there. It happened again in the clocktower Gauhh!! And I don't even what to think about the doppleganger stage which would also contain those Trevor-seeker skulls while you would have to cross the turn-table bridge right before the doppleganger itself, YEEEEEEEAAAAAIIIIIII!!! >:(
Okay, I'm done.

i played hard on Dracula's Curse using the special name entry, and was pleased that I was able to rescue Grant, only to find he wouldn't join my party in that mode. what a waste of a trip up the clock tower.
-
Pretty sure I beat HoD on hard mode at sum point :o
-
Ecclesia. That's pretty much it. (though I'm working on Portrait as we speak)
-
Aria and Dawn. I think most of the hard modes in CV aren't that much fun, the enemies just seem to get more health and deal more damage. I never noticed a change in enemy placement.
-
Ecclesia had a heck of a change in enemy placement, and both it and Portrait (probably Dawn too) boosted the moves of certain enemies to be more dangerous.
I think the early ones had bats and medusa heads where there were none before.

OoE
PoR
AoS
DoS

you've been keeping up with the new games pretty well, it looks like. i kind of tapered off with the new games as far as hard modes go (a new game always came out before i finished hard mode), but i'm working on them every now and then and hope to have some of them done before Lords of Shadow comes out.

OoE
PoR

You beat PoR on Hard? As in, the Level 1 Cap mode? Did you start from scratch, or did you keep your weapons from your Clear file? I tried that, and I got as far as those underground tunnels with the CV3-ish flippy platforms...(Buried Chamber, I think?). Those !@#% bats are a pain in the ass, and the fact that you can only take one hit safely before dying made it just ridiculous. I couldn't beat it.
I think the only CV I've beaten on hard is HoD which, by the way, makes the difficulty just perfect. It totally made me appreciate the spell fusion system...too bad it wasn't the default difficulty. On the other hand, I think the only other CVs I've played on Hard are CV3 and LoI.
-
oi, yeah, the spell fusion was totally awesome but totally not needed, it was so sad. yeah, i wish Hard Mode was the normal mode (they could have made normal mode "easy" mode for people who like that) and then they could "really" make a hard mode. i played the "No Spells" mode, which was decent mode, but then i missed the spells.

Everything except the 3D stuff, which I never bothered re-playing. Of course, I haven't bothered to clock III over9000 times to get those Ostara Eggs, but beyond that, I've done it.
Now let me hear it: 573! 573! 573!

I tried playing the level 1 cap on PoR just to satisfy my limited masochistic tendencies. But I got really tired of not making any progress so I brought out my pro-action cart. Killing Dracula with the level 1 cap took me almost twenty minutes!! What the hell!! If not for my pro-action cart I wouldn't have even lasted three minutes. What was IGA thinking when his team made such a mode! A level 1 cap!? Come on!! -This sounds a lot like the Angry video Game Nerd, doesn't it?

I beat LoI, DoS, and OoE I believe. With PoR and CoD, it was just a practice in frustration. With the GBA games I just didn't because I'm lame. The main reason I beat LoI was just to see You Are The Crazy of Castlevania.
-
Yeah, CoD Crazy is a practice in frustration (and LoI). It's nice that really every save-point-to-save-point feels like an accomplishment. But I don't tend to stick with it for too long before moving onto something else. I "really" wish that Crazy Mode had let you "keep your stuff" like Aria of Sorrow and its successors did. Then you'd have a good excuse to use all that neat stuff in those areas that you accumulated during the previous game before you leveled up in those areas past the point of caring. I used a Code-Breaker to give myself all the Orbs in Lament of Innocence in Crazy Mode, but then it doesn't let you fight the bosses, which is quite the let down and ruins the flow of the game.
-
I actually found LoI's Crazy Mode more satisfying than frustrating. The beginning was harsh but it began to ease out by what I felt was an improvement in my own skill. There's also the whole enemy placement thing. I also thought the changes in blocking spiced things up a bit. And as a final point: the enemies didn't turn into HP tanks unlike CoD and PoR. That was the thing that really killed the hard modes in those two for me.
-
yeah, you're right. on my game, i've cleared the the house of sacred remains but can't beat the boss to get that orb that will give me an edge in later stages. i shudder at the thought of attempting a second stage with no orbs, but maybe that's what i'll have to do to power up enough to beat one of those bosses.
