1. Let you play a mode using traditional subweapons in Castlevania: Legends
2. Had a much wider variety of monsters in Castlevania Judgment (they could have ripped off the entire roster of CoD if they wanted)
3. Had a four player mode in Castlevania Judgment
4. Had a "reuse your item" option in Lament of Innocence or Curse of Darkness
5. If not that, it'd be neat to have a mode that starts you out with one devil shard of each type in CoD, so you'd have a reason to play with a Mage type in an early stage for example when your stats aren't godlike
6. Let you enter a code in Dracula's Curse to let you play Japanese-style with Grant and hits (or at least let us buy the import version on Wii)
7. Added a boss rush for Symphony of the Night in Dracula X Chronicles
8. Let you play as Hugh Baldwin in Circle of the Moon
9. Had a secret way to bypass the hardest part of the Magical Nitro / Mandragora part in Castle Center in Castevania 64
10. The Wii let you have a different quick save in Virtual Console games for each user profile (or mii) so you're brother doesn't make you lose your spot in the game if he decides he wants to play
11. The Playstation 3 let you play Playstation 2 games
12. They released PS2 Haunted Castle in North America
13. They had a Nomis mode in The Adventure ReBirth
14. There was a way to win HoD in Maxim Mode
15. You could play more alternate characters in Hard Mode
16. The subweapons in Order of Shadows did enough damage to be worth using
17. Primary weapons in Order of Shadows replaced the whip, not subweapons
18. More games had a "random subweapon" option like the Turquoise-Jewel Crush combo did in Lament of Innocence
19. Game Boy and Dual Screen games gave you more save slots.
20. Added Hammer to the party in Julius Mode in DoS as they apparently had intended to do
21. Let you switch partners during the 2nd quest in Dracula's Curse
22. Only had one mansion in Simon's Quest that you had to worry about false floors in
23. Had Classic Mode in The Adventure ReBirth give you Axe and Holy Water instead of Boomerang and Holy Water in the North American release
24. Had a "Classic Music Mode" in The Adventure ReBirth
25. Had simple stories for Richter and Maria Mode in SotN and some of the other storyless alternate quests (like Julius Mode in DoS and Sisters Mode in PoR had)
26. Had an even harder hard mode in Harmony of Dissonance
27. Told us how exactly Daniela was related to the Belmont Clan
28. Had full camera controls in Lords of Shadow
etc.
of course, the number of things I'm thankful for is a much bigger list.
-
I could probably fill a list like this on Judgment alone. I wish it were more like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, 2D style, and the roster was at least twice what it is.
And of course regarding #11, you're right. I'm happy I got a launch PS3 and can play my PS2 Castlevanias on it.
-
meh, except for #8. Yes, Hugh should have been playable..
-
And of course regarding #11, you're right. I'm happy I got a launch PS3 and can play my PS2 Castlevanias on it.
How's that launch PS3 holding up? I figured launch machines would have trouble reading disc soon for me to want to actually try to get ahold of one now.
29. Classic Mode in The Adventure ReBirth didn't have a fire whip timer - you could use it for as long as you want as long as you don't get hit.
-
I have a launch ps3 as well & it still plays ps1 & 2 games fine.
30. I wish that they had released "Classic NES Series" of CVII & III for GBA.
31. I wish that they had made the final battle in Dawn of Sorrow take up both screens.
32. I wish that they had translated the Lament of Innocence cell-phone story & released it for everyone.
33. I wish that, instead of releasing 2 Maria statues, they should've ditched the Judgment figures & made more worthy characters.
34. I wish that they had given IGA & his team more time to polish up Curse of Darkness.
35. I wish that they had released a more accurate Vampire Killer to purchase from the Konami store.
36. I wish that they had spent more time polishing up those hideous NECA figures.
37. I wish that they had added "load rooms" to Harmony of Dissonance.
38. I wish that they had elaborated on Mathias' past life more.
39. I wish that they had made Dracula's Castle in Order of Ecclesia as big as Symphony's.
40. I wish that they had added a Trevor mode in Symphony of the Night.
41. I wish that they had added a John/Eric mode in Portrait of Ruin.
42. I wish that they had given IGA a chance to make another console 2D game (that's not downloadable).
43. I wish that they had ported Super Castlevania IV to the GBA, or DS.
44. I wish that they had made artwork for Castlevania ReBirth.
45. I wish that they had kept Kojima to do the art for Dawn & Portrait.
-
I wish...
1. There would be more vids/screens/info and a release date for LoS already!!!
2. They would've released The CV Adventure & Belmont's Revenge on PS2 as 1 big game and part of the Chronicles series.
3. CV3 would work on the FC Console.
4. The huge soundtrack box set was available in the U.S. and wasn't so damned expensive.
5. A port of The Arcade game would be released for the Wii.
6. A Greatest Hits compilation (or Chronicles Special Edition type thing) would be released on PS2 or PS3, with Vampire Killer, Haunted Castle and CV 1-4 all on one disc.
-
I have a launch ps3 as well & it still plays ps1 & 2 games fine.
that's good to know
30. I wish that they had released "Classic NES Series" of CVII & III for GBA.
I did to, but now that they're on Wii Virtual Console, I'm satisfied (don't really need them to be portable)
31. I wish that they had made the final battle in Dawn of Sorrow take up both screens.
good idea, never thought of that, but yeah, Menace was so huge, it wouldn't made sense and be a neat use of the DS.
32. I wish that they had translated the Lament of Innocence cell-phone story & released it for everyone.
I second that one! Come on Tokyo Pop, there might not be any more CoD manga to publish, but you could always reformat this to fit in a manga book. speaking of CoD manga:
46. I wish that they had made Volume 3 of the Curse of Darkness manga
33. I wish that, instead of releasing 2 Maria statues, they should've ditched the Judgment figures & made more worthy characters.
not a bad idea, OoE Shanoa anyone?
34. I wish that they had given IGA & his team more time to polish up Curse of Darkness.
um, yeah, second that. I enjoyed the Abandoned Castle so much that Dracula's Castle was a real let down.
35. I wish that they had released a more accurate Vampire Killer to purchase from the Konami store.
didn't buy it, so guess i'm not concerned about that
36. I wish that they had spent more time polishing up those hideous NECA figures.
I thought they were great the way they were
37. I wish that they had added "load rooms" to Harmony of Dissonance.
interesting request. i'm fine without them, but that reminds me
47. i wish that arranged versions of the background music was played in HoD when you are in Castle B
38. I wish that they had elaborated on Mathias' past life more.
I'm fine the way it is, as long as we get to see what they say about him in the cell phone manga!
39. I wish that they had made Dracula's Castle in Order of Ecclesia as big as Symphony's.
no, i just wanted the game to be over by the time i got to Dracula's Castle. it was an okay size for me.
40. I wish that they had added a Trevor mode in Symphony of the Night.
yeah! i've always wanted to switch between Trevor, Sypha, and Grant using those sprites in SotN. if not there, use them in a Dracula's Curse Chronicles type game (but that might be too lazy).
41. I wish that they had added a John/Eric mode in Portrait of Ruin.
yeah, i was expecting that, but got Richter/Maria mode... ah well, didn't mind playing that though.
42. I wish that they had given IGA a chance to make another console 2D game (that's not downloadable).
I'm still holding out hope that the new Alucard game will be a 2.5 or HD 2D game for the PS3. I'll lose hope if they announce his next big game is something different though.
43. I wish that they had ported Super Castlevania IV to the GBA, or DS.
nah, I'm fine with just Virtual Console
44. I wish that they had made artwork for Castlevania ReBirth.
yes! that's an everlasting shame they couldn't have come up with "something".
45. I wish that they had kept Kojima to do the art for Dawn & Portrait.
being a fan of anime, i didn't mind the anime artstyle. i was actually looking forward to a trilogy of anime titles. then they'd better stop after that though. but it's best we got OoE instead.

I want all of those too. As for #11, I wish there were ps3s that were able to play ps1 and ps2 games like the launch ones, but with no problems (I heard there were some with the first ones). This way I could trade in my ps2 like I did with my ps1 when ps2 came out.
46. I wish that the soundtracks to the games were release outside of Japan (only a few are available in the US on iTunes).
-
I agree.
-
I wish...
2. They would've released The CV Adventure & Belmont's Revenge on PS2 as 1 big game and part of the Chronicles series.
that would be awesome!!
-
All I want is a decent re-make of the Saturn version of SotN. I don't care if it's an unlockable bonus of the next DS-vania or a PSN game. It just can't sit in Japan-only Saturn-Hell forever!!
-
DS2 is coming out.. Im sure we will get another CV there :)
-
huh? DS2? is that really happening? i thought the next Nintendo handheld was going to be a new Game Boy with only one screen.
-
DS2 is coming out..
You have always been a trusted source of new info, Wallachia, but do you have a link? Or at least more information on this subject?
-
No link, but I am in the industry, and it is happening..
-
How's that launch PS3 holding up? I figured launch machines would have trouble reading disc soon for me to want to actually try to get ahold of one now.
Mine's been rock-solid. Which is special, considering I bought it refurbished over two years ago. I like putting PS1 games in it, like Castlevania Chronicles, and then playing them on my PSP via Remote Play. THE TIMING MAKES THE GAME MUCH HARDER. Games like Dragon Warrior VII are a lot better for such things.
-
I wish Iga didn't fuck up the story line.
-
Hey guys, as far as I can tell, all PS3's can play PSX games (that is, PS1).
However, not all can play PS2 games. that's the key difference. The old 60GB ones with the Emotion Chip & stuff could play 'em, but as the company started taking parts out of the PS3's to reduce costs, PS2 backwards compatibility went out the window.
Not sure if/when it will ever come back, but if it does, it'd be via PS2 emulation in the PS3, not via a chip.
-
i sure hope we don't wait until the PS4 comes out before we're able to play PS2 games on a current system.
-
Not sure if it's possible, but if most PS2 titles were available on PSN, then they should have a way of verifying that you have the actual disc in the machine; then let you play the PSN version of the game for free. Rather than actually reading the game data on the disc.
Wallachia: That's good enough for me (about DS2), I guess we should expect pics or some kind of official announcement some time later this year?
-
I wish Iga didn't fuck up the story line.
I'm with you there, Thomas Belmont! :D

1. I wish Judgment not to exist.
nuff said
-
You and me both!

34. I wish that they had given IGA & his team more time to polish up Curse of Darkness.
YES! Considering how IGA freely talks about how CV3 was his favorite, he should've handled a sequel to his beloved game with kid gloves. There should've been MORE platforming. They could've nixed the whole Saint Germain thing and work in some of the original CV3 characters(Alucard, Sypha, Grant). Trevor Mode should've had his own story that interlocks with Hector's.
36. I wish that they had spent more time polishing up those hideous NECA figures.
The re-released line doesn't look as bad as the first release line. I have re-release Simon, and his paint is more professional, not as globby as the original release fig.
38. I wish that they had elaborated on Mathias' past life more.
They could've added more in term of story all around.
44. I wish that they had made artwork for Castlevania ReBirth.
I'm sure Konami has artwork in their vaults of the new enemy designs and such, but like a lot of other games, we'll likely never see these.
-

They should take a queue from Capcom and put together a book with all the old artwork and early sketches.

That would have been nice. However, Alucard wouldn't be in the game because went to sleep at the end of CV3. Given that such a story would interlock with Hector's, the final boss wouldn't be Dracula, it would be Hector in that room at the top of the Abandoned Castle.
-

That's a good point. They're releasing the Castlevania/Contra ReBirth sound track this month. There's a decent chance they might add original concept artwork to the jacket sleeves like they did for other OSTs. Well, I don't know how much of a chance, but I'll hope for it anyways for now as the last hope.
-

Yeah, I'm actually surprised there hasn't been one of these yet. I would have expected at least a japan only one by now.
-
i guess the pre-order bonus art galleries that came out with Japanese and North American games don't count? oh well, guess we need a more comprehensive bound book that is worthy of purchasing on its own right.
-
DS2 is coming out.. Im sure we will get another CV there :)
DSi, you mean, sir?
47. I wish for another Sorrow game.
Nuff said.
-
hey, this thread is for stuff that you wish they had done, not wish they will do in the future. now, you could always say that you wished they had made another sorrow game instead of Portrait of Ruin or Order of Ecclesia or something like that.
-
I wish Kojima hadn't made characters soo effeminated, so, this would have never happened...

speaking of Magnus.

I wish CV character weren't portrayed in that manor. :-[
I guess some art styles are a curse in desguise rather then a blessing.
-X
-
I wish that they had....... . .
a game with AEON as main character
-
awesome Rolex ad. Aeon is sort of the main character in Judgment. but you want a traditional CV with Aeon as the lead player?
-
Art style means nothing. If it exists, somewhere there's gay porn of it. There is no escape.
NO ESCAPE.
*Ahem* Well, then, I wish...
-Castlevania Judgment included Motorcycle Skeleton as a character, because why not go all out with the time travel silliness?
-PoR had some kind of subplot about a Nazi occult scientist (Dr. Mengele?) trying to harness Dracula's power for some reason. ...Actually, fuck subplot, that should have been the plot.
-PoR continued Bloodline's idea of monster hunting 'round the globe. Real wasted opportunity there; the London and Egypt stages were a good start, and then it just kind of... plopped.
-PoR had a mode with John Morris Sr. and Eric Lecarde as opposed to Richter and Maria.
-CoD were just another DS game.
-OoE used the Tower of Trials as a rubric for designing the stages. It's fun and - gasp - had, like, environmental obstacles and platforms! Imagine that!
-IGA made a Dracula Densetsu Chronicles for the DS. (Alternatively, a Dracula Densetsu 3 starring Soleil would suffice.)
-Simon's Quest were remade with some problems fixed, such as seperation of money and hearts, bosses in all the mansions, rearranged overworld, etc.
-LoI's plot were completely different. Yeah, it was a good game, but the way they handled Dracula's origin was bizarre and nonsensical. So wait, you're tricking this vampire into tricking your best friend into murdering his wife, so you can take the vampire's power, and somehow convince your best friend that what you did was a good thing? And you're not actually Dracula by name until 300 years late- WHAT THE FUCK, IGA?
-Dracula was made in such a way that combines the elegant darkness of the fictional vampire and the murderous badassness of the historical figure.

Actually, Sara was Leon's fiancee not his wife.
-
Oh yeah, oops. My point still stands, though.
-
Actually, Sara was Leon's fiancee not his wife.
Who cares he was still prbably swinging her the sausage regardless of that whole "wait to marriage thing."
Obviously Leon got over her and probably use that whip, with her soul in it, in some fetish scenarios with the local bar wenches.
-
Yeah, you kinda have to wonder who Leon coupled with after LoI.

No one. He reproduced by mitosis.

Yeah, somethin' like that.
- I wish fans didn't react so badly for Dawn's anime style.
- I wish Portrait to not copy Sorrow's (Both Dawn and Aria) idea of a big cast of characters. Half-assed.
- I wish for porn showing Mina and Soma having sex. Whoops, wrong place.
- I wish for IGA's head to explode.
- I wish for Simon's Quest to not exist.

Asexual reproduction for the win.

I think IGA was quite clean-cut at the time of LoI. It was only after that that he suddenly went all RAWR.

Actually, I'm betting that Leon would partner with Liza (from the cell phone manga), a character who apparently also had a gripe with Walter and entered his castle (I think) because he killed her fiance. What better new partner could Leon hope for? I think the whip would approve too.
http://www.vgmuseum.com/mrp/cv-loi/cellphone-comic.htm
-
Honestly it was probably something similar to what happened with Hector, he probably ran into some hottie who somehow assisted in his quest to kill some vampire terrorizing some village he came across while he tracking down mathias.

Why isn't any of the additional content ever translated and release outside of Japan? Honestly, from what I've heard, CV has a bigger fan based in the US than in Japan, yet those of us who live in the US barely get any of the extra. And, if we do have access to some of it, it is rarely translated. Why can't Konami America get off their lazy asses and release English translations of all the extra content the people in Japan get. That goes for all the Konami branches/subsidiaries around the world who are responsible for translating and distributing CV games in their respective regions.
-
I think it has to do more with money issues and just plain lazyness on their part to even want to please the fanbase. Which is NOT very smart at all.

awesome Rolex ad. Aeon is sort of the main character in Judgment. but you want a traditional CV with Aeon as the lead player?
;D thanks!
yes, i want a traditional 2D CV with Aeon as the lead player, i know that this thread is for things that you wish they had done,
but a DS game with AEON is................beyond what words can say ;)
-
unfortunately, Judgment made it sound like Aeon's rarely ever the one who does anything, he just sends someone else to do it. but of course, if no one else is suitable to the task, he'll do it himself.
-
maybe in a game that takes places in the year 2368, soma is dead, belmonts are dead, alucard/genya is retired,
and Dracula is somehow back on earth, there is no one to defeat him, except aeon...
but a Aeon mode in a new game is also fine
-
Allowed Soma to become the dark lord for real of Dawn of Sorrow and then end the game as Julius and company. But they would have to omit the Dimitri deus ex but I would have prefered that ending to the real on in DOS.
-

That's a great idea for PoR. What it should've been was have the Nazis searching the world to find a means to resurrect Dracula so they could ally themselves with him(tap into that myth about the Nazi's occult experiments and such, like Indiana Jones and Wolfenstein). You travel the world in persuit of the Nazi occult task force, and it ends with Castlevania's resurrection. You arrive to find out that Dracula has slaughtered the Nazis, because all humans would feel his wrath, but granted Mengele his dark desires, turning him into a vampire and giving him his Alchemy Lab to create more demonic creations. I actually thought that, at the least, is how it should've been. One of the things I actually wanted with PoR was, the war to be present during the opening of the game. Have Jonathan running through the forest as you see bombs being dropped in the background, and you hear machine gun fire in the distance.
-
did you like the idea's in Paul Anderson's original movie script involving Nazis?
-
God christ!! That wouldv'e made an even better PoR then what we've got. The intro story was very washed out and had almost ziltch to do with the war itself. And the last time i checked, Romania was allied with the Axis powers at that time. So I think it wouldv'e been almost impossible for a prist to make it to Dracula's castle, let alone John and Sharlot without running into a bunch of Nazi soldiers. Also wouldn't castlevania's resurrection draw attention from the Nazis stationed in Romania thus prompting a massive investigation via Hitler's orders? Hitler would, no-doubt want to find out more about the demon castle of legend. If only IGA put more effort into this game it couldv'e been the a kick-@$$ title we'd all have no trouble playing over and over again? Maybe someone here at the dungeon could do there own fan remake of PoR and apply all the aformentioned on this thread. what do you think Jorge?

There's a script? I can hardly keep up with that shit anymore, they've changed the staff working on it about 1,500 times... Anderson probably found some way to fuck up the idea anyway.
Actually, another idea would be Charlotte wanting Mengele dead for sending her family to Nazi death camps. That would actually give her character some depth.
-

That would've been awesome.
ANd yeah, the whole persuit of the Nazi's throughout the world would make it very much like Bloodlines. Also, you wouldn't need paintings to visit Egypt(Egypt would be one of the locations the Nazi's would be searching for one of the unholy artifacts). Same would've been cool for a war torn London(instead of the City of Haze). They could've also had other locations like the Coliseum of Rome or the Catacombs of Paris. Man, there was SOOOOO much potential. :-[
-
I also had thoughts of Brauner being a placeholder for Hitler. Hitler also had desires to become an artist, so the paintings we've seen in the castle could've been his attempt at ceizing Dracula's power. Add to that the whole Occult Nazi stuff.
So many possibilities..
