One thing that i was seen is that the chinese games of Castlevania, for mobile they are all cool games. It's different from the others that are released by Konami, as Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow, that once we have played it in GBA or DS, we fell like it's missing a lot of things, and in Castlevania - Order of Shadows, i guess they could have done something better. The controls are difficult to execute, and the game is a little slow; but this chinese games i have played, i liked it a lot. They did, what Konami didn't. The games looks like the ones we play for GBA or DS. What do you think about these games? And why do you think they did a better work then Konami?

yeah i know what you mean man, i live Brazil and almost everything here is pirated...mostly from Paraguay and China...and these knew mp12, mp11 and such from china are really cool, with Word "alike" functions, videos well played, good cameras and java and stuff...but better than konami? aren't you going a little overboard there?maybe bc of the excitment of playing never seen new games???and btw, these chinese phones, as an engineer, i could say they lack a lot of quality, are almost "use-once" since the parts they use are rarely found to replace (at least here) and 99% non repairable.
The usefull life of those phones if well cared is between 4-6 months while my good old motorola trashed, forgotten in bathroom, dropped at least 3 times a day is making it's 3 aniversary...
i Had 2 chinese phones and i thought the same as you.Untill i realize the cruel truth!!!! :'(
But, Hey, Lighten Up, if it's cool to you go for it! ;)
-
Oohh, i'm from Brazil too Raphael (live in Rio). What i wanted to say was about the Mobile games of Castlevania. These chinese ones are a lot of better (in my opinion), then the ones of Konami released, like Order of Shadows (the commands are very difficult to execute), Dawn of Sorrow and Aria of Sorrow. But these chinese Castlevanias, they did a good work.
-
These fan made games seem to have more passion built into them, whereas the Konami games were just made with $ in mind. After all, the series is just a business to them. Not to say their games don't have passion as well, but the Chinese developers don't have much to lose in this scenario. Those games were made by the fans, for the fans.
That's the way I see it, atleast.
-
I have to agree, though I haven't played the Chinese games.
They definitely look better than Order of Shadows, which I did BUY. That was a waste of money.
That was a terrible game.
Say, are there any emulators or what-not that can play these CV games?
They mostly look very well done.
-
I'm from Brazil too. Well, I was born there. However, I was adopted by an American couple and grew up in the US, where I still live now. As for the Chinese Mobile's Castlevanias, they look kind of cool I guess.
-
I would love to get these china-made CV games and try'em. But all the mobile phone Emu's that I've seen act just like real mobile phones. you have to pay for servises and the like when all I want is a straight-up game emulator to play these games and not some stupid phone servise. If anybody out there knows of an emulator befitting of my needs then please, don't hesitate to post a link for the emulator and the roms. :)

cool now we are 3 from Brazil!!!!
yeah those games are ok i guess, i just wanted to warn about the maintainence level of those phones...
-
I know of at least one Java phone emulator that can play the phone apps like any emulator. You just have to track down the the java apps.
Do we even know if these games run on a java platform?
EDIT: I think I found a download for the first game and a few of the other official phone games.
They are all .jar files. So that confirms that at least the first game is java.
EDIT2: Apparently the title of the third game is "Prince of Qin: Millennium Reincarnation".
Also, I found a download for it as well. They're all java games. So if anyone is interested in playing these, shoot me a PM.
-
Well what i can say is that i have an emulator where i play these java games. And i also have the download link (it's free, this one you don't pay anything)
And i have the download link for the three games as well, them all have 240 x 320 of resolution, if you don't have that resolution in your cell, at least can play on emulator. If some one want, send-me a PM (at least the second one, once Inccubus have the other ones too).
\o/ And yeah! It's Brazil right here! ;D
-
Yeah I think I have them all now.
I need to get a dll to get the emu running.
-
Hope to play these games, somehow, someday. The screen shots do look good and anything made with passion can't be all bad.
In the meantime, can I just say I f*@%!ng love Brazil? I seriously do. Might not be from there, but my heart and my hips go out to it. :-*

Found a site that has tons of mobile games:

Unfortunately you need to register in order to download. But they did show those two castlevania games that are mentioned in this thread.

-

Do you want them all?

Boy, those cell phone games really *do* look good. :o

These are all very interesting looking. If you do some research, you can find .jar files for Castlevania 2: Demon and Castlevania Reincarnation online quite easily. The problem is getting a running emulator. From what I've found on google apparently mpowerplayer is the way to go. It doesn't run on my computer though, I keep getting a .dll error (I have the .dll file) and it says it can't access my Java folder for the .dll file (it's there). I'm tempted to put my fist through my sreen and my foot through the tower at these stupid errors, but I'll keep looking for another emulator.
UPDATE: Got mpowerplayer running ... and it's not what I expected. Tried looking for some other emulators, but they're more complicated than simply pressing "play", because of the whole java thing. It's causing me quite a headache, so for now, I give up.

Konami needs to buy these, take out the inevitable copyright infringements, and release them as a compilation on something.
-
Sonic Reaper, i use two java emulators (the best ones), Kemulator (v. 0.9.8) and SjBoy Reloaded. Look for these two emulators on Google, and download it.
And about the other games, you can find it on a Brazilian Forum, named Snk Neofighters. You can look for it on Google, and then enter in the forum page, go to a subject named "Pocket, Celulares & SmartPhones", and after that go to the last page of a topic named "Java Games Para Celulares", and there will be the download link for all of these Castlevania Games, and more.
Munchy, i agree with you. Konami could do it. And man, these games are a lot of better than Order of Shadows.

Thank you Roan. I've been spending the last three hours playing Castlevania Reincarnation. Which is very bad because I have two finals I should be studying for tomorrow. Well, anyways, I've beaten it, so it's now out of the way. The screenshots are quite deceptive. The problem with these cellphonevania's is,
a. the control is usually quite atrocious. In Reincarntion for example, you can't press two buttons at the same time, so if you want to jump off to either side, you have to first press jump, then either left or right. Another problem is that you don't hold down for crouching, press down puts you permanently in the crouching position.
b. the frame rate sucks. It's quite jittery.
c. there's no music (I've only played three so far, and only one of them had dedicated music, but it was pretty bleepy-bloopy and annoying after awhile).
So, like I said, the screenshots are really deceptive. There's no doubt a lot of work went into most of these games, but the platform on which they've been presented, is a waste. The Castelvania experience just does not translate to the cell phone.

Order of Shadows came out years ago. I'd bet the next mobile Castlevania is going to be on the iPhone, and it'll be 10 times better than all these put together.
-
good point. oh man, am i gonna have to buy an i-phone now? i had to buy a new phone in order to play Order of Shadows.
-
You can always just get an iPod touch if you don't want an iPhone. The newer iPod touches have the same fast hardware as the 3GS iPhone.
-
I just typed this message with my iPod Touch 3GS :)
