I'd like to know before I go investing time in this.
-
It depends. If i remember correct, it must be around 7 -10 hours, but it depends on the skills of the player!!!!
-
10 Hours? Sounds like a good Saturday coming up :)
Thank you!
-
It really depends on the following:
- Combat skill
If you use a map from a website like gamefaqs.com
If you want to get absolutely everything
However, what really matters is that you like the game. I also recommend taking your time and leveling up appropriately. If you just rush through the game you can miss stuff and get crushed by some of the enemies.
-
Very long to get the 200%, about 12-16 hours ;)
-
yes, 10 hours....bc you need to level up you and your innocent devils bc Isaac is followed by a stronger enemy with no time to heal...get a corpsey, a battle type innonect devil, although easy to get, he is REALLY strong...when you get a battle ID use only axe untill he evolves, then only sword to the final evolution.
you can skip a lot of things making the game even 6 hours or so...go only for what matters...focus on being stronger.i made a speed run for that game (i do for all cv's) and i got 1 hour and 57 minutes...but don't think you can get as near that (at least not for a first run, hell at least for a 50's runs).
item combination faq so you don't waste rare material on a shitty "bamboo thingy"
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/925894/42170
also don't worry for maps for the game is quite rly lined up...
also in the forest of Jigramunt, don't go to the tower you see there, and even not to the tower followed by it...it's not worthy you'll lose too much time, efforts, frustation (too long) and possibly die (at least at the second tower)
after all said, have fun, it's a great game i love it, LoI had a cool story, but this one has better graphics better jogability, cool weapons...i have a thing for the dragon killer sword see the faq how to make it, it's not so far in the game till you can make it and it's rly destructable. with it and a corpsey battle ID, you are invincible.
farewell my son.
edit evolving to corpsey you no longer need to use sword you can use any weapon.the combo light, light, strong, it's the best sometimes hit more than longer ones is quick, dont let your guard down, use the dodge thingy wildly.that's all you can beat it easilly with mah recumendationz!!!!!!!!!!!for trully i'm a cv master guider!!!!!

. . . . . . .
And if you do not enjoy the game, the answer is too long.

Whenever I play this game I always break it up into segments so as to not get bored of it real fast. In terms of the mecha knight boss from the abandond castle area...is it possible to steal from him? Every time I play a new game and defeat him I see the monster bios list and it shows the steal color in one of the items lists. I can't understand this one bit. How can you steal from an enemy which never appears again and only after he's dead do you get your hands on the steal command option. Anybody??

Good point. Since I never bothered to replay Hector's primary mission, I never found out if your stats/weapons/abilities from the first playthrough carried over into your next attempt. Pretty standard for CV games as of late, but did it apply in CoD?

I can't say I've done it myself, as CoD is one of my least favorite games in the series, but I believe you have to get his steal item during the boss rush, since you don't get the steal ability until after you've beaten him in the story mode.

wtf are you talking about?you steal from DEath the death pulse and that's it...other steals are alright and easy...
-
What I mean is that prior to the Mountains which is after the castle, you cannot steal. At all. The only way to steal is to get the steal item which is just after Julia's shop. This being the case you cannot steal from the mecha knight eventhough the enemy list shows that he's got something for you to take. But you can't cause you don't get the steal ability until after he's dead. And that just plain sucks. What was IGA's team thinking!? :P

Actually, you can steal from the first boss (Crazy Armor) in the boss rush mode.

No, it will be a dreadful Saturday if you play CoD.
If you use spears the entire game, it will take you a very short amount of time to finish, so do it. The ID you get is ridiculously overpowered :P Listening to an audio book while playing the game will help you ignore the tedium as well.

lol, so true. I'm glad I finished it when it was first released.

It's not a question of difficulty, but of lack of interest in the game. I think CoD is the only map-based CV in which I didn't feel like getting all 100% of the map explored.
Comprende?
-
I should probably beat COD soon. Just to get it out of the way.
-
It took me some 13 hours to finish it, but it felt like 40 hours cause the game is so fundamentally boring. The levels are too big and empty and Hector is a bit slow. Or maybe he just seems slow cause the levels are so large. Anyway, the game moves at a snails pace.
However, the soundtrack is terrific, one of my all-time favorites.
Also, I don't see how anyone could say that CoD has better graphics than LoI?
To each his own, I guess...

Hector does move slow. He's slower then Leon. And it doesn't help that the levels are a lot larger. I've found that constantly using Hector's double somersault techneque will greatly speed up the process of gameplay.

As mentioned earlier, the game seems slow because Hector runs slow and the areas a too large. I also think that is seems long because many of the rooms look the same and there is a fair amount of back-tracking if you are trying to get everything.
However, I think that the music and the story make the game worth it. I still think that LoI was better though. The only things LoI was missing were warp rooms that would eliminate back-tracking.
-
i thought LoI had warp rooms. They were the magical transporters in the boss chambers after the bosses had been beaten.

-
lol I knew this would turn into a CoD bash thread. You people are all too predictable.
-
CoD gets a lot of hate of what it is (or what it tried to be), not to mention being a pseudo-sequel to CVIII. But when it was released in back in Nov. '05 I was rather excited about it & bought it first day. But in retrospect.. I realize they could've/should've done a lot more with the engine, refining the stage layouts and such. But other than that I still have no problem with the music, cutscenes, characters and other stuff here & there.
I'd imagine if CoD was given the budget and effort LoS is getting, it'd probably be the best Castlevania ever.
-
CoD had excellent music, but I can't really get over the fact that the game was light years behind its competition on the PS2 in terms of level design, graphics and gameplay mechanics. Put CoD next to GoW and I would've never guessed they're playing on the same console. I'm being extra hard on this game because it's Castlevania and I always expect it to be better than all the rest. The PS2 era unfortunately changed that.

it did and didn't. it had teleportors that took you to the beginning of each individual area, but nothing to take you for a point in one area to a point in another.

I have yet to play Curse of Darkness, though I really want to. It looks awesome but everyone seems to hate it. I'm looking forward to getting it.

Do what you want, dude. But this game has really nothing to do with Castlevania. It's a quite good standard-game, but Castlevania was ABOVE every other games in the past...

Like every other game in the series, from CVI all the way up to CoD, it has its qualities and downfalls.
Bud, not THAT bad of a title. Get it, pummel it, and enjoy it. By now it is worth the 15 bucks you'll spend.

As said, just play it and you'll understand. It's not the worse game on earth, but I can tell you there's nothing Awesome in it.

Too long! *buddum-tzh*
My first playthrough was about 12 hours long.
-
I thought it was longer than that. hmm, I guess my memory is hazy, but I really liked it.

yeah I actually enjoyed curse of Darkness to a point, it's the games strong point or new feature that made it special obviously, the number of Innocent devils you can create based on your fighting style but a Devil ID was obviously stronger in every sense, and amount of weapons you can create instead of pickup was fun but...I agree that you definitely need a guide for the weapon synthesis so you wouldn't waste the rarest material to make a puppy dog hammer, finish the game without ever seeing the cool weapons you could have experienced.

Still trying to steal Death's Vein so I can make his damn schythe....
-
ha ha ha, I actually gave up on that a long time ago, it's just too much. stealing from him is actually harder than defeating him...how messed up is that!?

Hmm.....determined old schooler, I am....
As far as games go, I have had some sort of respect for the battle with Death on various titles. But they really put together a doozy for this task.
The thing is it's damn possible to do. Just the attack that allows the steal is too quick and sweeping.
Grr. I may have ground a few of my teeth down trying.
