Platform not important, just want to know how hot you guys would love the remake.
if so, what new features would you like to have?
In DRacula's Curse, the unique gothic cv background music, story, and the trio are always impressive to gamers throughout the years.
I REALLY love to have one. adding some new features and tracks would be COOL.
-
I'd like that very much.
I know many people didn't really care about the Rondo remake, but I liked it. I may like the original more, but I enjoy playing them both. Besides, it's better to have a remake than nothing at all. You don't have to play it if you don't like it. Having said that, I definitely think a PSP remake of Dracula's Curse would be great, but I would strongly advice Konami to NOT use the same engine as in DXChronicles. They should go for a completely new style, maybe not even 2,5D but something different.. dunno. Proper 2D but with excellent handdrawn graphics (like that would ever happen...)
I need to see more of this 3DS thing before I can say anything about it. I don't think a Dracula's Cure remake necessarily needs whatever extra power it holds - Gimmicky 3D effects OR something really cool.
I think that if Konami ever decides to remake any old Castlevania, it will be a downloadable game. Wiiware, XBLA or PSN. Or possible the PSPgo.

Agreed with you. 'You don't have to play it if you don't like it'. Remakes should exist!
My friend, no need to be disappointed yet as Konami might suddenly make it in the future as Rondo remake goes. 8)

Yes, we need a remake of Dracula's Curse. Not all CV fans have a neither an NES nor like using emulators. From what I've seen on youtube videos, it is a great game and there should be a remake on PSP. As for any changes, I would give it the graphics of SotN with the remixed music of all the songs in CV3. I would also add voice actors for the few cutscenes and add some in regards to the battle against Dracula. For example, there would be a different cut scene for every combination of characters: Trevor alone, Trevor and Sypha, Trevor and Alucard, Trevor and Grant. Plus, I would also add and unlockable feature allowing players to play the original game.
One last thing, I would make a complete soundtrack available on iTunes like with DXC that has all the music both as it was in the original CV3 as well as the remixed versions, plus some bonus songs.

I want it on my 360!
-
I think Dracula's Curse has the most potential to benefit from upgraded graphics and mechanics.
As for platform, Wii, or 360 download title would be my choice, but PSP over the DS any day if it has to be portable. The 3DS can go suck a big fat one too. No 3D gimmicks in Castlevania please.

I remember reading an interview in Nintendo Power when they covered Portrait of Ruin and had a review with IGA. They prefaced one of their questions to him with: "In previous interviews, you expressed interest in remaking Castlevania III..." I think it's resting in the back of his head somewhere. Well, I hope.
This would be lovely. From what I've seen of the 3DS it looks pretty gimmicky and based solely on a fleeting novelty, so definitely not there. But something like DXC on the PSP would be alright; I enjoyed that immensely. I think updated 2D would be the way to go, something traditional, yet elegant and free-flowing.
-
Yes, yes, yesssss, please! I really want the remake, in the same way as DXC. If Ayami Kojima made the art, it would be so awesome!!! Finger crossed! If I chose the platform, it would be on PSP.
-
I would love to see a remake of it in the same ways as DXC. I'm very surprised it never happened since IGA was always saying it's his favorite, hopefully there is still a chance to see this happen

I think vector art is better because the sprites can be large and detailed. Think Blazblue sprites. It's exactly how SotN should be remade if a project ever goes underway as well.

It doesn't have to be vector art to be large and detailed. Vector art only makes it resizable/scale without pixelation. If I'me wrong, someone contradict me... since I'm never 100% sure.
-
You're right. Also Blazblue isn't vector art. I rather not Castlevania sacrifice detail for anime-ish flat shading because of size either.
-
I was told that Blazblue used a great deal of vector art alongwith handdrawn art to complete much of the animation. I also suggested Vector Art because it can be resized, meaning that ports wouldn't be a pian.

Very much like for me! :)

A 2D game for the 3DS would be gnarly if they used the 3D effects to enhance the backgrounds. 3D stuff beyond simple aesthetics doesn't have much of a place in Castlevania, though. I'd prefer it for the 3DS mainly because it will likely be a cheaper system and will not break due to complications with many fragile and perpetually moving parts, something I loathed about my PSP and still loathe about newer consoles.
-
A Castlevania game for the 3DS is pretty much confirmed IMO. CV games have always been with Nintendo handhelds since the beginning :)
-
Yeah, but that was pre-reboot. The question is, is Konami going to continue with the Japo-Saga? I hope so, but it's uncertain at this point.
-
Well, Cox has repeatedly said that his game isn't canon and isn't connected to the official timeline, which leads me to believe Konami isn't planning on erasing all the other games just yet. LoS is Castlevania reborn on consoles, not rebooted. We'll see.

"Erasing" the older games would be downright absurd. I think Konami is mighty proud of the series, and I definitely think LoS is - like you say - Castlevania reborn, not rebooted. The old games are classics and will live on forever. If LoS is a success I bet Konami will milk the franchise for all its worth - not retcon stuff - and a Dracula's Curse remake is more than likely if that happens.

I agree completely. Never thought about that possibility with the 3DS. And I agree also with your comment about the durability of the system. Thank god I don't need the analog stick to play DXC (to my knowledge, anyway), because mine's busted. T_T

It would be killer to have it for the DS. It would be cooler if they ported the first three games into a single DS game, letting you choose which one you wanna play.
-
I fully support any remake of any old school CV title (CV I II III IV or Bloodlines are basically it). I must admit that the atmosphere for CV III was the most distant from what I love about the series as far as the aforementioned titles go. One thing I want them to do is to get the art style to be an update of the texture, color and ambiance of the NES/Famicom production and the music should be done with an emphasis on making it more creep up on you spooky. Please see my incarnations of the music on Youtube under the name Homie0static to get an understanding of what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/user/Homie0static

Revisiting "Dracula's Curse" ah that would be fun.
I never could find a copy when I was a younger lad. I played it at a friend's house.
Memories ^_^
Whatever format it could be released on, bring it on! =D
-
Would be nice. Could be nice. But I won't hedge bets.
-
Hell yeah. On DSiWare.
I've got a shitload of DSi Points. I wanna use 'em.
-
I'm definitly all for it! A CV3 remake in the same type of atmospheric quality as SCV4. And let us all pray the IGA doesn't get it into his head to degrade Sypha like he did with Maria in DXC. That was shameful and dishonorable. Death before dishonor IGA, death before dishonor.
