Title: Selling my Castlevania collection
Post by: PFG9000 on April 11, 2010, 07:16:35 PM
It's time for me to buy a really expensive shiny rock, so I've decided to sell the items in my CV collection that I can part with.  I'd prefer to have them go to board members first, so I'm posting things here before they head to ebay.  If you have an offer, PM me and we'll talk.  I'm not expecting to make a killing here, but please make it a reasonable offer - I'm doing this because rings aren't cheap, not because I want to give away lots of rare stuff for nothing.  If you want me to post a picture of a particular item or go into greater detail on the condition or anything else, let me know.  Everything is used and is the North American version, unless otherwise noted.  Here's the list:

The games
Castlevania, IBM/Amiga/Commodore 64, factory sealed.  (Asking $200)
Simon's Quest, Tiger handheld.  Fair condition, no packaging.  (Asking $10)
Nocturne in the Moonlight (SotN), Japanese PSX, with case/book.  (Asking $50)
Castlevania 64, factory sealed.  (Asking $40)
Castlevania & Contra Collection, PC, factory sealed.  (Asking $15)
Aria of Sorrow, factory sealed.  (Asking $50)
Harmony of Dissonance, factory sealed.  (Asking $75)
The Castlevania Adventure, factory sealed.  (Asking $75)
The Castlevania Adventure, Japanese version, cartridge only.  (Asking $20)
Castlevania Belmont's Revenge, factory sealed.  (Asking $75)
CV Bloodlines (boxed version), factory sealed.  (Asking $45)
Dracula XX, Super Famicom, with box/book.
Castlevania GBA Classic NES Series, factory sealed.  (Asking $20)
Castlevania Chronicles, Japanese PSX.  (Asking $40)
Circle of the Moon, factory sealed.
Legacy of Darkness, cartridge only.  (Asking $30)

Accessories and Collectibles
Castlevania whip.  (Asking $50)
Castlevania Comic, all 5 issues, pristine condition.  (Asking $35)
Portrait of Ruin preorder bonus, factory sealed.  (Asking $35)
Symphony of the Night OST, Everanime (bootleg) version.  (Asking $15)
Dracula The Best 2 OST, Everanime (bootleg) version.  (Asking $15)
Simon Belmont pixelated figure (Simon's Quest version), factory sealed.  (Asking $15)
CV Judgment Simon Belmont laser cel.
Order of Ecclesia OST sampler, factory sealed.  (Asking $15)
Curse of Darkness OST sampler, factory sealed.  (Asking $10)
Lament of Innocence OST sampler, factory sealed.  (Asking $10)

Non-Castlevania items
Gradius Collection, PSP, factory sealed.  (Asking $40)
Gradius V Breakdown DVD, factory sealed.
Gradius III & IV collection, PS2, factory sealed.  (Asking $60)
Bust a Move DS, factory sealed.
Dig Dug, Atari 2600, factory sealed.
Jungle Hunt, Atari 2600, factory sealed.
Realsports Baseball, Atari 2600, factory sealed.
Football, Atari 2600, factory sealed.
Missile Command, Atari 2600, factory sealed.
Battlezone, Atari 2600, factory sealed.

Tournament Cyberball, Atari Lynx, factory sealed.
Klax, Atari Lynx, factory sealed.
Power Factor, Atari Lynx, factory sealed.
Ico, PS2, factory sealed.  (Asking $75)
Devil May Cry 3 (original version), PS2.  (Asking $8)
Silent Hill 4 The Room sampler OST, factory sealed.  (Asking $10)
50 Cent Bulletproof, PSP, factory sealed.

EDIT:  Photo added, list updated with asking prices on some items.  If an item doesn't have a price listed, it's because I either haven't had time to look into it, or because I can't find any recent sales with which to gauge the price accurately.  Make me an offer.  I've also added a loose copy of Legacy of Darkness for N64 to the list.  If you think some of the prices seem unreasonable, feel free to ask why I chose that price.  Some of these items are just about impossible to find in this condition.

As far as shipping goes, I'll charge whatever the actual cost of the shipping and materials turns out to be.  When we agree on a price, you let me know where you want it shipped, what kind of shipping, and whether you want insurance.  I'll go to the post office and get it packaged and ready, and I'll let you know the total.  Once I get your check or cash or whatever, I'll ship it ASAP.

I wish you had Legacy of Darkness! i would def. buy that.

But I'm also interested in the Castlevania Whip. Can you tell me more about that?
Like size, materials used in construction, color(s), what you paid for it and/or what you are expecting to get for it.

If it is, what I think it is, I would be willing to pay $30 to $60 for it. If it's better than I expected, i might pay $100+ for it. If it's really small or plastic - probably not interested.

its one of those cheap fake whips they sell at carnivals and stuff that you couldnt even really use or itd just break and fall apart but its got a CV metal tag thing. Ive seen pics of em (not his particularly) but thats the only CV whip Ive ever seen or heard of so Id assume thats what his is

I got that whip and it's a little flimsy. I had it for about a week and the tip started to come undone, so I have electrical tape around it. I felt $30 was reasonable when it was available for purchase on the Konami website, but I would never pay what it sometimes goes for on ebay. Mine is still pretty sturdy though, after 4 or however many years its been

I've updated the original post with my asking prices, since that's what most of the PMs I received were looking for.  I haven't posted prices on some items because they haven't shown up online or in-store lately, and thus I don't have anything to reference.  Make me an offer on these and I'll let you know.

Also, somebody asked about Legacy of Darkness.  I do have a loose copy I can sell.  I've added it to the list.

It's what Aridale and ProfBeanBurrito said.  It's definitely a collectible and not something you want to be whipping your kids with when your beer isn't cold enough (kidding, kidding).  It's made of black leather and it has a little metal plate where the handle meets the whip that has the Castlevania logo in the style of Lament of Innocence.  It's probably about 8.5-9 feet in length.  Mine is in perfectly new condition (it hasn't killed any undead yet), but it wasn't anything amazing to begin with.  I paid $40 for it around 2004, when I ordered it from the Konamistyle site.

May I ask whereabout the delivery costs for items, at least single games, will land? Particularly if sent to Europe.

I've never sent anything overseas, so I really don't know what to tell you.  It would depend on the weight and size.  I'd imagine it would be around $10-15, but that's really just a guess.  Maybe somebody around here who has some experience with that could give you a better idea...?

I sent a memory card to canada once - in a bubble cushioned envelope, and it cost $8. And my grandma used to send me stuff from France all the time - it was pricey! I would think at least $15, maybe more than $20.

Sign me up for the copy of LoD!! The whip is tempting, but $50 is too much, especially if you are charging $30 for LoD.

I could see maybe paying $65 for both. Let me know what you think of that offer, but either way, please set aside LoD for me. That is 100% for sure.

OotG, Legacy of Darkness is yours if you want it.  The whip is already gone though.  :)  Send me a PM with your address and payment choice.  Paypal, personal check, money order, or cash if you want to risk it.  I'm going to be heading to the post office tomorrow morning, so I'll try to get you your shipping total then.

SHE ISN'T WORTH IT IF IT MEANS YOU HAVE TO SELL YOUR COLLECTION

Haha, she actually told me not to do it.  ;)   But I've stopped adding to the collection in the last few years, because there comes a point when paying 100's of dollars a year to add to a collection of stuff is less important than paying the mortgage and utility and insurance and truck bills.  And now I need to have a little cash if I'm going to get her a ring that she's deserving of.  She's a pretty fantastic girl.  She's not even irritated with my Castlevania obsession!

Well as long as you're ok with getting rid of your collection, thats what really matters. Congratulations!

I don't know if I could do that. At least not anytime soon

I dread the day I have to start being more responsible with my time and money, ha ha.

I got Dracula XX (with box and manual) for I believe $60 plus shipping just a few months ago, so that's probably about what it's worth. Blows my mind that the US version sells for so much more for the cart alone, when the game is censored.

Also, is that comic as bad as it looks? Downloaded some files, but they're in French or something, so I can't tell how the writing is, but the art sure looks poor.

A question about your games:
1. there's 4 im interested in but are not listed, Castlevania DOS, POR. And GBA, AOS,HOD.
2. How much for them?
3. Are they F-Sealed?

The photo is just a general picture of my collection; not every item in the picture is for sale.  I can see how that would be misleading.  I only meant to toss a picture in there so that it was clear that I take pride in my collection and have taken good care of my things.  PoR and DoS are not for sale.  AoS and HoD were included in my original post.

Oh ok cool. I just wanted to confirm for myself if they were for sale or not.
