I think it would be interesting for another Sorrow game, but as a prequel. I mean, wouldn't it be pretty neat to do a game as Julius and learn how they stopped Dracula?
-
Your talking about the yet to be made "1999" game. This is a topic that has been discussed several times before. Anyway, we essentially know what happens:
Dracula is resurrected during a solar eclipse. Julius and others (including Alucard) team up and defeat him. They end his resurrection cycle by sealing his castle in the darkness of the solar eclipse.
Then again, I would love for an actual game to be made. However, I don't know if it will ever happen. Only time will tell.

I agree, I want to see that game! Hopefully IGA will make it, as a 2D game. There is a lot of potential there, and there is a story, so why don`t use that?

yea this is just another battle of 1999 thread and trust me its already been discused ALOT! ;D

Sorry ^^; Didn't know since I just joined the forum.

It's cool, but you can definitely scrounge up the topics and read em, and this is probably better than Thread Necrosis...

It seems that IGA didn't even had a 1999 game planned. He probably thought we were alright with just knowing that Dracula was defeated in 1999, which is weird. It would make a great game, even if the story is already "spoiled". Maybe they could make it a sidescrolling, old school Vania, like ReBirth (but with a little more effort put into it)? Making a Metroidvania or a more ambitious game would be problematic since there wouldn't really be any storyline twists and turns to speak of. I mean, there could be , but the ending would be very traditional compared to IGAs other DS games. Which is fine with me, I just wanna experience that impossibly epic Dracula battle :D His last form could be absolutely over-the-top and hard as hell. I wouldn't hold my breath for this to happen though...

Oh really? When did he say that? I never saw that. Makes my hopes go up a little.
I remember an interview when IGA, upon being asked about the 1999 game, replied something like: "Do people really want that? I thought I already told that story in the Sorrow games". Not exactly that, but something similar. :-\

It's from a 2005 interview he did with a magazine, right before the release of DoS. I can post or send you the whole article if you'd like

I'd like that :D
Anyway, I always felt that the 1999 game should have had the name "Dawn of Sorrow". Or maybe Aria should've been Dawn, and the 1999 game could've been called something like "Prelude of Sorrow". Though "Dawn" and "Prelude" suggests basically the same thing. Having the second Soma game being called "Dawn" seems a little weird to me, since it's not the "Dawn" of anything sad. Unless there's a new game coming where Soma turns into Dracula for ever. That would be a little sad.
Or maybe they shouldn't make the 1999 game a Sorrow game at all. It should be called something EPIC, like... dunno... ORCHESTRA OF TERROR *DUN DUN!*

Better title: Overture of Destruction
It sounds a little more intense and if I remember correctly, AoS mentioned something about a "Demon Castle War" in regards to Dracula's final defeat and the sealing of the castle.

I like that name! You should trademark it and then sell it to Konami :D
-
just give me one character in the 1999 game whose main arsenal includes a machine gun, flame thrower, and grenades. bring on ContraVania.

Oh yeah, and pans and fairies are NOT Castlevania enough...

XD, haha, let me guess, you are one of the many who wanted to play as Hammer with that Bazooka of his in AoS?

I wish I knew how. Besides, even if they liked it, I doubt that they would give me anything for coming up with that title. If anything, they would probably take credit the idea.

yep. i pretended to be Hammer by equipping Soma's handgun, combat knife, and grenades for a while. oh, and don't forget about donning the army jacket.
