It's all in the topic...

me am select
Master Librarian from Symphony: He had personality & knows of Alucard's past. Which means he holds secrets that we probably will never know about
Rinaldo Gandolfi: He plays a major role in the Belmont history. He also replaces the "Poltergeist King"
Hammer: Being from the military, he has expertise in firearms & weaponry, although his personality was dumbed down a lot in Dawn, he still would've made a neat extra character to play as

Here's how it breaks down for me:
When I think of salespeople in the Castlevania universe, the Simon's Quest "faceless gypsies" come to mind as the definitive choice. They're creepy and cool looking with their different colored cloaks. Some of them hide and need to be baited out in graveyards, some seem to taunt/threaten you, and some hide underneath the floorboards of buildings.
Next, I'd probably say Renon, because he was very different, mysterious, and stylish. Plus, the fact that he's really sinister is a freaky touch. (Leave it to CV64 to give you scary atmosphere).
Finally, Renaldo! I liked how his story had some depth and was intertwined with the hero's. His voice actor was excellent and he was actually interesting to visit with all his stories/advice.
Runner-up: Librarian of SotN. He almost made my picks because of his personality, but he came up short.

I think I have to go with the gypsies from Simon's Quest. I love that game!

No love for the MSX Salespeople (who wall themselves up it seems), or the Flute-Salesperson from X68000? :P

Ohhh yeah, the flute guy! He was cool. My vote goes to Renon, though. He had that gentlemanly thing going for him.

Has anyone ever made the connection between Renon and Jean Reno in The Professional?
-
Rinaldo was my vote.
I like him because of his involvement in the story, and I'm a Michael McConnohie fan (Vampire Hunter D, Diablo 2, Warcraft III, Transformers, etc).

Am I crazy, or does he also voice Dr. K in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories?

I have to go with Renon. How many merchants do you actualy get to fight in any CV game?
-
I like Hammer the most. I wonder if he was going to be playable character in DoS..there were some indications in some omitted dialogue hidden in the game, right?
-
Overall, I like Rinaldo. I like his role in the story besides being a merchant.
-
Rinaldo because he actually had a role in the story.
-
The Master Librarian because he is the only merchant who makes sense. A little.
-
It's all about the merchants in Vampire Killer. They live in fucking brick walls. That's some hardcore real estate.
-
I´m all for HoDs merchant. His " yeah, I´m all like stuck in this place BUY SOMETHING EHEHEH"-story makes him kind of obscure, but lovable. Just like the Game itself =D
Second is Renon.

For me number one is the Simon's Quest Gypsies...as forementioned they were creepy in their individual ways, but that was what gave CV the ambiance. Second, Rinaldo just seemed like he was hiding more than his ability of Alchemy being fused with whips hmmm....
