Title: What happened to the Dracula's Curse animated movie?
Post by: randir14 on August 02, 2010, 10:01:59 PM
The latest news I could find was from three years ago and the blog maintained by Warren Ellis doesn't work anymore.

Time Reaper was sent back to destroy it, therefor it doesn't exist anymore.

I wish it would still happen, or at least if it's not going to come out they would just let everyone know. Maybe I'm looking into to it too much, but if you check out the source code for the site, and I really don't know much about web design, it does say "transitional" in it, so maybe they're working on a new site. Thats my hope

It sucked therefore all traces of it had to be destroyed. Too bad they spared the existence of the live action movie.

Why couldn't the Time Reaper kill it too?

Because the live action movie just keeps resurrecting itself like Dracula.

Has anyone here ever read the script? Because its pretty bad. The only thing good thing is that Sonia is Trevor's mom even though that doesn't make sense anymore.   ;___;

Isn't that for the live action film? That script was terrible.

Where can I find said script? Sounds like it's good for a laugh.

Could you send the script to me as well?

Its sad how both the animated film and the live action one are soulless adaptions of a game the script writers barely know anything of. And I don't mean just characters and story. It just bothers me how they are horribly unfaithful they are to CV III, they can't even get the characters right in both cases. If I want to see an adaption of it I want to some iconic areas from the game like the ruined town, Alucard's tomb, and the ghost ship if that isn't too much effort. Even the small things like the monster they screw up. Instead of familiar enemies from the game they give us dumb skull spiders and most of Dracula's minions consist of minor vampires who don't even appear in most Castlevania games except for a few exceptions. Not to mention that you can't get away with downgrading the whip to a secondary weapon.

At least this movie is better than the garbage Warren Ellis delivered.

Yeah, I didn't like what Warren Ellis was planning, either. When I first heard about the whole Goat f*cking and naked Alucard scenes (I'm sure this one isn't a problem, but his character art for that film is horrible), I literally rolled my eyes at how hard they were trying to be 'adult-oriented' with this film, but, like the sucker I am for CV III, I let it pass and tried to keep my hopes up.

However, when I read on his blog that he was going to remove Grant from the plot just because he thinks his surname sounds stupid, not to mention he believes that Pirates weren't around in the 1400's (he truly doesn't know a damn thing about CV, because it's not based on actual history, let alone the fact that the Japanese manual states that Grant is a rouge/freedom fighter), I was pretty PO'd, due to the fact that he's my favorite out of the three heroes who help Trevor, and he actually played a role in the game's story; his family was mercilessly killed by Dracula, and was sent to the Clock Tower after being transformed into a hideous monster. There is no reason not to include him. It's unfaithful to the original source material.

Paul W.S. Anderson, or whoever is directing the live-action movie, doesn't get any slack from me, either. Aside from the silly character relationships, he wanted to change Grant's name to Granvid in order for it to sound 'more Romanian'.

Bottom line, movies and video games will never go well together if stupid directors keep screwing up pre-established storylines and characters. Except for PoP: SoT. That was actually a good movie.

Heh, the live action script I was talking about was written by Sylvian White, you don't want to know what Anderson wrote.  :-X

Also, was that Prince of Persia film actually in the same continuity as the games? That's quite something.

Yeah, I don't think I wanna know about that script.  :o

PoP did leave out a few elements from the game (I forgot, though), but I think it had it's own storyline, but stayed true to the source material. lol.

I totally didn't notice the movie has a new writer. Its a guy called Ian Jeffers. I wonder how different it will be from the Trevor script. I actually want it to be different. Why not do a completely new story?  :-X

That would be a good idea, actually. Maybe they can make a new Belmont character and place him/her in a time where the others haven't appeared. lol.

I would definitely like to see this animated movie! I will wait and keep the fingers crossed. They could at least make the comic book from all the art they have done. If the animated movie is not happening, the comic would be awesome. Do it!!!

As for the movie with real actors, I hope that project stays dead.

I think its more the other way around though.  :-X

I think that the writers from both movies and the artists for the animated movie should be thrown out and whoever had the idea to make CV movies should find someone how actually plays the games and is a fan.  That won't happen though because it makes too much sense.  I know they can't fit a whole game into a movie, but if they can at least get the storyline right and include the most important areas I'd be happy.  Plus, it would also help to make the characters look as they did in the games.  For example, alucard.  In the animated movie he looked like a flaming homo.  He should look as he did in SotN.  You know:  dressed simular to dracula, long blond hair, and young looking (late teens/early adult).

By the way, the art for Sypha in the animated movie was the only one that was true to her game appearance.
