There aren't any details as to what the game is, but a Castlevania game will be coming out for the xbox live service on the phones being released at the end of this year. It could be a port of the SOTN puzzle game or something else entirely.
Taken from the press release here:

Harmony of Recycling I guess?
-
I doubt any cellphone for a while to come will have the horse power to run something like Harmony of Despair. It may be recycled 2D junk, but that's likely way too much stuff on screen to be rendering on a phone I would think. I don't believe phones would have enough ram either.
-
i don't know if i can handle a third game released on a platform i don't have. better be Encore of the Night so I don't need to get both an iThing AND a Windows Phone 7. maybe they'd make a sequel to Encore of the Night, Encore of Sorrow, perhaps?
but yeah, since its microsoft, it does make you wonder about Harmony of Despair, or maybe some kind of knock off. wonder if they could make a Harmony of Despair-like game, except use the Game Boy games instead.
maybe it'll just be another port of Symphony of the Night?
i don't know how well a Castlevania game would play on a phone without many buttons. i would be all for a Stella and Loretta adventure game.
-
I think that Encore of the Night port.

I don't think Konami plans on making a new castlevania for the system. Don't think the controls would be there for an HoD port either, while games can take advantage of a hardware keyboard the majority of phones won't have one, so touch controls are pretty much first priority.
Windows phone 7 does has strict hardware requirements so the games can look and run pretty nice (hell the iPhone and high-end android phones can almost run most PS1 games at full speed). 4 point multitouch, 1GHz processors, at least 512MB ram, though that's about on par with the latest iPhone and android phones. The games don't look too bad especially with the XBL integration, I'm glad microsoft is finally trying to connect their various products together.

Portrait of Ruin port. I'm telling you guys.
-
Even better, Akumajo Dracula pachi slot ports.

Haha, I remember that game!
-
Might end up being a port of Order of Shadows.
-
yeah, well, i guess i would be mildly surprised if it was anything other than Encore of the Night.

Looks like Glu is going to add its games to WP7. This could indicate that the Glu cell phone versions of Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow might be available, and might be the launch Castlevania title(s) we had heard about. Wow, don't know why I didn't consider this as a possibility. It'd be nice to be able to get those games outside of Europe.

Edit: Huh, we already knew about Glu's games since August. This is news? Ah well, new speculation anyways.
-
I don't own that type of cellphone so I must pass, but sounds like good news anyway.
Happy belated birthday, btw ;)

Except the cell phone version of Aria of Sorrow wasn't very good. I don't know about Dawn of Sorrow cause I never played it, but Aria was extremely short and pointless, with awful controls and hardly no bosses. In one area, where you're supposed to fight Legion, they just put a normal enemy but gave him extra health. Other "bosses" you could simply jump over and move to the next room without killing them. Also, I don't understand why the music - of which there isn't a lot - starts over every time you go to the inventory screen. Repetitive as hell. The map system was broken too, filling in rooms you hadn't even fully explored yet. But yeah, I guess it's a possibility for it to be a launch title...
-
Possibly

This looks weird to me. The animation for the legs, mostly... but the face and top are pretty alright for a four-frame animation.
-
Everything about it actually animates poorly. Why is the hair flopping up and down so much? Nothing looks natural.
-
The phone has been released in Europe for a while already.
Anybody heard something about this mystery game yet?

It animates better than the characters in Bloodlines. :-\
In a way, I hope this IS a port of EotN. If not, Konami's starting to do what they did back in the 90's by putting different games out on pretty much EVERY system. It's part of what killed the series until SoTN came out.

Sad but true.

at least morris bends his knees lol
-
Yeah I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with uzo and doctamario on this, and agree with Thernz. The sprites speak for themselves. While one might not be fond of the almost sneaker-like boots and big bulky arms John has, the animation is smooth and proper with the Bloodlines sprite, and not at all so on the err... that thing-sprite.
-
I dunno, John doesn't seem to walk that smoothly in-game, but then, I haven't played that one in awhile. It CERTAINLY doesn't look that good when he ascends or descends a flight of stairs. O_o
-
When Jon walks up and down stairs it's a lot like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP5c_MEs9mo#).
-
I've never seen that when playing golden eye before. Is that some kind of game shark cheat or is it a debug option? :P
-X
-
Still no news about the damn game? >:(

I think it's a gameshark or memory hack thing.
-
ugh, my current "dumb" phone is starting to become unreliable. i need to know what kind of Castlevania game they intend to make for this system soon...
-
I think it's a gameshark or memory hack thing.
It's cart tipping - moving the cartridge while it's in use.
-
ugh, this article says that Konami "released" a Castlevania based game at Window's 7 launch. but i can't find it on the Windows Phone 7 home page or Konami's home page. heh, the article talked about social networking. wouldn't it be scary if the game turned out to be something like the Lords of Shadow facebook app?

IGN got a page about it with minimal information but I don't know if that says much.
-
nagumo-baby changed her avatar :o

I wouldn't be surprised, with the popularity of Facebook gaming on the rise these days. Although I haven't tried that LoS app yet.
-
oh yeah, i didn't notice it was her until you mentioned something
-
nagumo-baby changed her avatar
And this was an useful post... how? Would we not have noticed, and why is this a big deal?
-
I liked Nagumo's Sonia avatar, s'all.
and I edited the post so it's "useful" now :P
-
Try not to make a habit of these useless posts, 'kay? There's a good lad. :P

Looks like Android is getting the NES version of Castlevania. Hope Windows gets something more interesting.

Is that NES version a legit app or just an emulator? I have emulators on my iPhone that are fairly decent, but it'd be cool and kinda promising if it were a legit Konami app.
-edit-: After following links, it looks like its just a CV1 theme for android, not the actual game. The blog you linked to says its a game but the link she has posted goes to the theme. O_o
So has anyone figured out what on earth this Windows 7 app is supposed to be?
-
i'm beginning to think that its "all lies".
oh, guess there's no CV game for Android, gotcha.
-
I can play NES Castlevania on Android already... but it's an emulator.
Can play SNES, too. >_>
-
I'm curious about emulators on iPhone... do you have to "break" your phone to do it? Not that I'm discussing emulation or anything :-[ (Or maybe it's ROMs we can't talk about.). Anyway, I'm not discussing any of it. Nope. I am not. No way. kthnxbye. :-X
:D
Anyway, I really want a Castlevania for iPhone. Encore of the Night was - to put it mildly - not my cup of tea. I like puzzle games but this was just.. meh. The mobile version of Aria of Sorrow was terrible too, so my expectations for MobileVanias are really low.
-
Actually the Android systems emulator is a free app from the Android Marketplace.
The ReadOnlyMemories, however, have to be acquired by other means...

Yeah you have to jailbreak your phone, but it's easy and harmless providing you read up on it. PM me if you want more info and include what version of iOS you're running.
-
Maybe it'll be a remake of Order of Shadows? One that's better, at least? ^^;;
-
gotta be a sequel, i'm have to find out what happens next after OOS's cliffhanger ending.
-
Is this game canceled or what?
-
finally, looks like Castlevania Puzzle made it to Windows phone 7.
it's one month too late for me, cause i was gonna get a windows phone 7, but there wasn't a Castlevania game for it, so I got an iPhone instead. now they've got me and i'll probably have to use an iPhone for the rest of my life.

as an aside, did they ever get around to implementing the copy/paste feature on Win Phone 7? cause that was the other reason i didn't get a Win Phone 7.

Never mind, I saw the link said Xbox Marketplace, and I thought this got released for the Xbox 360. It's still only on those phones. :(

How is Encore of the Night's music?
-
How is Encore of the Night's music?
Stolen from SotN. Seriously.

Stolen from SotN. Seriously.
Sad... I was hoping for some more arrangements.
-
what's fun is that they let you chose your background music. i enjoy playing music from other Castlevania games in the background.
