Hey guys, I'm an editor at www.relyonhorror.com (http://www.relyonhorror.com). I've been running a lot of pieces on Castlevania lately, in anticipation for the game! I just posted this new item and I think a lot of people are gonna love this. :)

Here's the article:

if it's true, HD or bust, none of that Harmony of Despair BS.
-
If it is true, I might look into this. I can get the DS titles for 10 bucks or less at retail though.
Actually I'd probably buy these if they went digital anyway.
-
I loved Harmony of Despair though, for what it was, I found it to be a perfect marriage of both vania concepts. The linear and non-linear formulas mixed together. Now, I'm not implying that the chapters are these huge mazes or anything, but on top of being level-based (like the old vanias) they're not as straightforward. Where's the character DLC :(
-
It'd be interesting to see the trophies/achievements they'd come up with.
-
Holy crap a thought occurs.
What if we get the 1999 game on XBLA/PSN?
-
"A Thought Approaches!
Command?"
I already play my GBA titles on the screen... with a Gameboy Player. :P
Or with the VBA-GX Emulator.
But yeah if they come out in HD I'd probably get 'em for PSN. :D
-
Would be interesting to see how the DS titles would transfer. I'm all for full screen DS entries on the tv.
-
I wonder how they'd handle the seal thingies from Dawn of Sorrow?
-
Meh. Ill probably get them, especially the GBA offerings, but I feel the DS games will be a downgrade. Duel screens have spoiled me for metroid styl gameplay. I love having my status screen and map out and visible at all times. Typing this post made me realize how much ild like an actual quality sequel to blaster master on the ds....
-
Cool!
Though I also hope that the Virtual Console feature for the 3DS will include GBA games. That would seal the deal for me. Original GB and GB Color games are nice, but it's about damn time to revive the GBA games!

I've always thought what it would be like to have a DS game on a widescreen TV. Then I thought it would be neat if there were a feature to display the game sideways on the screen, and one could have like a stand or wall mount that you could unlock, spin, and lock into place where the long portion of the TV goes vertically. Then a Wii Remote or PS Move controller could be used for the touch portion. It seems so ridiculous, and yet it would be so cool.
Playing those old vertical-screen arcade games like this would be awesome, too.
-
Even though I have all of the games, I'd still download them to play them on the tv. I hope this happens, but what I'd really like to see is these show up on that supposed Castlevania collection

I've done it with my 55" LED tv using HDMI output on the video card and running an emulator. While the emulation isn't perfect, and can be slow at times, it looks damn awesome. Makes me wish they were all on console instead of handheld. I'd buy an XBLA version of all of them in a heart beat.

They'd (thankfully) cut that pointless gimmick out of a XBLA/PSN version.
-
Plz do this konami. I want to play HoDiss. and DoS in hd. Also plz change the HoDiss bosses or give them patterns or lasers or something
-
Unless they thrill me by making the GBA and DS games up to the graphical sleekness of SotN, I have no interest. Hell, I have no interestin in any of the DS ones(the original versions on my DS suit me just fine), though would only be interested if they remade HoD and AoS in HD, with beautifully crafted backgrounds and HD sprites. But, if you were going to make that type of effort, might as well make a new game altogether.
-
Wow this is FANTASTIC! I just hope it actually happens! I've never even heard of that website but hope it's a reliable one! I've never got to play these games, cause I just don't do hand held systems. If I can't get another symphony of the night, well this might be just fine as a substitute. It will probably make me forgive HoD, I played the demo and it didn't make me wanna buy it at all. I was so sad. In any case. I feel sort of screwed out of a lot of cool games that are only on hand held. Glad to see Konami might take advantage of the downloadable game market.
-
If this is true, it's AWESOME!! I'd love to play Dawn of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia(especially Ecclesia) on my TV. Like Jorge though, I already play GBA games on the TV with the Gamecube Gameboy Player.
-
yeah me too, but i love being able to play a game on a system that i have permanently set up on my tv and not having to fumble around with cartridges, so i'd probably buy it again anyways.
-
Unless these games are significantly touched up, they're going to look pretty shitty on the big screen.
-
It looks like nothing more than speculation at this point, so I won't hold my breath. Interesting idea, though. If the GBA/DS games had something extra (improved graphics, more history behind each game, etc) and were priced at not more than $10 each, I'd buy at least a few.

At the very least they should throw out that awful synth in Harmony of Dissonance.
-
Hey now, I like the sound of HOD. (That is, Harmony of Dissonance. The other one, Harmony of Despair, will be initialized by me as HD.) Gives it character. Plus, I just like crummy, low-end synth sounds. So long as it's not a Casio.
-
would be cool if it happens. would it be like a small screen with letter box around it? or will all the sprites be hd done. If not Hd this could look very bad on HD tvs. plus the sound!! sound remixing is needed..
-
While I'd like this to happen, however this seems very hard to realize especially since Michiru Yamane apparently no longer works at Konami (I am unsure if she's even freelance)
If any of these games did in fact receive the digital download treatment and were re-released on XBLA / PSN there may as well be the possibility of the music not even being arranged at all. On the chance the music is arranged for a re-release I'm not even sure if it would sound right without Yamane arranging her own material and someone else doing it instead.
-
She is freelance, but still works on Castlevania games. Do you not remember Order of Ecclesia?
-
I honestly wouldn't even want Yamane to rearrange the songs. The PoR and OoE arranges were really underwhelming.
-
Holy cow, gang, please un-bunch your panties. Ever hear the phrase, "consider the source"? This is all speculation. It's a forum post based on an article based on an article based on an Iga quote. And the Iga quote is this, "I am very interested in the online distribution and look forward to it, but that’s all I can say for now.” This really has no more to do with seeing GBA or DS games on XBLA than seeing Dracula X on Wii's VC.
I'd love to play the GBA and DS games on console. And I already do play the GBA games on my Gamecube (with a Dualshock converter mind you, because the GC controller's D-pad sucks), but I'd still pay a reasonable amount for a full-screen AoS experience. And I'd love to see the DS Castlevanias on a TV. I think some of their visuals would actually rival SotN's visuals. But please, quit treating this post like it's an announcement of future ports, because it's absolutely not.
-
I always had the feeling such a project would happen.
Curious though if we might see more "side-quests".
Since XBLA and PSN offer a lot more open design lately.
Perhaps a full port? or even enhanced music? *OCR may have something in mind
