Title: Forbidden Library - Castlevania Wiki Project
Post by: Nagumo on October 18, 2010, 11:21:34 AM
The Forbidden Library is a project of mine I started about a year ago. It's an attempt at creating an informative database about the Castlevania series. Over the past months I have been laying the groundwork for this wiki, though the project is meant as a shared community effort.

The wiki is organised to be easily accesible and is closely supervised so everything is in accordance with the manual of style. Everything is divided over ten categories: Characters, Games, Items, Bestiary, Music, Locations, Magic Systems, Developers and Designers, and Media.

Here are some sample pages from the respective categories.

http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Castlevania_Bestiary (http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Castlevania_Bestiary)

http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Timeline (http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Timeline)

I've been looking for several contributors who might be interested in joining me with this project. All contributions are appreciated if only small corrections. Recently I have started working on Lords of Shadow related pages, and I already got a game page (http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Castlevania:_Lords_of_Shadow) up. You have to register on the Anti-Chapel board before being able to make any edits. Feel free to take a look around, ask some questions or give me some feedback or comments.

Hay I'd like to help. But do you think they'll like me over at the Chapel? :-\

I'll look over that stuff when I get home from work.

This sounds like an awesome project...

...except for the part where you're requesting that people subscribe to another forum/site in order to help you.  Unfortunately that's a form of soliciting, which is somewhat of an unspoken no-no, here.

If you're going to do that, you should put up your request in your signature or something, that way people always see it when you post, but you circumvent the solicitation stigma.

Alright then, but the reason why we need members to register is because we had trouble with vandalisme in the past. If contributors have  their own IP address then its a lot easier to take action. I'd rather have it the other way but that's not possible.

Great, thanks a lot. Don't worry about people liking you, we're not the elitists people make us out to me. Except for Successor, he is a Tyrant who controls the Chapel hive mind.

They're are also pages about key events, organisations, objects etc. These are relatively small articles but they are kept short and sweet without becoming stubs. This page about the Demon Castle Wars was written by Conn:

http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Demon_Castle_Wars (http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Demon_Castle_Wars)

Clans are also included in the character section. This page details their history, means of combat and magical abilities gained over the years. Also includes a list of noteable members.

http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Belmont_Clan (http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Belmont_Clan)

In the future I would like to add references to all the articles so everything on the wiki is reliable. I've already thought of a sourcing policy as well as the manual of style (http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Forbidden_Library:_Manual_of_Style) and layout guide (http://chapelofresonance.com/wiki/index.php/Forbidden_Library:_Layout_Guide) which might be worth checking out if you're not sure about correcting/changing something or maybe want to try writing something all by yourself.

I read up on the clans but i think there might be an error. Maria Renard I don't believe is a true sister of Annet. And that's due to the fact that in both RoB and DXC, Maria says that she has the same blood as Richter. She tells Annet this and Annet is shocked. So I'm going to assume that Maria is and adopted child of the Renard familiy and that the Renards are not related to the Belmont family. I makes more sense and it avoids possible inbreeding on Annet and Richter's part  :-X

Oh I didn't catch that error. Thanks for pointing that out. I know Maria and Annette aren't really sister, its actually explained in both their articles. DXX refers to them as sisters because in Rondo Maria refered to Annette as onee-chan which can either mean older sister or something like lady/miss. That's what got the confusion started.
