This poll is for stage designs only --boss battles can be polled separately sometime later.

BTW The Necromancer's Abyss RULES ALL!

I'm pretty much happy with everything after the 3rd chapter.

The whole mountain fortress area and the necromancer's Abyss. The castle felt like a house not a home with Dracula absent  :'(

Malphas' tower and every part of the castle. Those felt the most Castlevania like. The necromancers area was cool, but that along with the earlier levels weren't quite as good to me.

Necromancer' abyss shows the completely mastered level design MercurySteam can do. It was sadly at the end of the development cycle :P but the whole thing since the Gravedigger (It was brillaint, it's post-battle "speedrun" was sooo old school) was top notch over AAA level design.

I'm not sure if I'd say it's the "best" stage, but I voted for Bones Forest since it's a creepy and dank place with whip swinging and decent platforming, zombies tossing their heads, and burning structures strewn about. It needs some love. :(

One of my favorites is the Enchanted Forest simply because it was enemy free and peaceful, so it was one of the first levels where I really took my time and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Other than that, I love the Abbey catacombs because of the snow covered village, the three towers and pretty much anything related to the castle :P

My favourite is not the best too. One of my favs is Malphas' tower, Agharta was pretty sweet IMO and the scarecrow sections (also the bone forest BTW) were great.

For me, Necromancer's Abyss was awesome ;D
From plattaforming to design, everything is very detailed.

And I think Malphas castle and the Abbey were nice too, specially Malphas decoration with crows, crows and more crows nicely attached everywhere :)

Everyone is naming some great, detailed areas in the game, especially the latter section.

One of my faves though, is the mausoleum in the dead bog, and the Swamp Troll fight right outside of it. It was the 1st imte in the game I thought, 'WOW, now THIS is that creepy mood I was hoping for'. And from then on those moments got better and better, and BIGGER.

Necromancers Abyss had the platforming that the rest of the game should have had, where much of it wasn't scripted. It was easily the best level. The music box was also pretty creative, and I liked the level with the Scarecrows. These 3 levels were definitely the best in the game, and also felt quite distinct in design from all the others. The first level of the abbey, with all of the traps, was quite fun. That level leading up to the grave digger was pretty interesting, and I liked how you actually needed to hurry when platforming for the first time in the entire game. The Castle hall was well done, I liked the use of the windows and sunlight, but the rest of the castle (including the clock tower), while it really nailed the atmosphere, wasn't that well designed. Most of the puzzles in it were rather lame, broke the pacing, and felt out of place. Also, it would have been awesome if they had put a chase sequence in the garden maze (that reference would have been better than all of the name drops in those scrolls), that part had a lot of potential but felt so generic. Actually, they never really got creative with most of their levels, they almost all felt the same despite the radically different looking locales. There was so much more potential. And the first 3 chapters were awful, that part dragged down the whole game. The game would actually be better if it was shorter.
