I will try to get screen captures of LoD, LoI & CoD game over screens. I don't remember what they looked like (unless someone can provide some)

I'm going to have to go with AoS here. Not only is it the best visually, it even makes a neat easter egg appearance in the Dance Hall.

Also, Dawn of Sorrow's is just plain ugly to me. It looks like a good artist's first attempt at Adobe Illustrator.

I'd say the gameover screen for CV the Adventure (The gameboy original of course). Same reason as Alutwon's explination. It just pisses you right off cause it's such a frustrating game!! >:(

I've always liked Cotm. The purples and gargoyles grey go together nice.

OOE - Dracula on the throne.
Then - COTM, AOS and CV64.

Many of the "Game Over" screens make no sense.

I don't really like how the OoE ones just reuse art from the intro and shift the colors around a bit.

I always liked the AoS picture best, although I also really like the PoR and CV64 screens. The game over screen was one of the only good things about PoR.

Aos hands down, but Legends is surprisingly cool despite it being a GB game.

I think I like OoE the best. CotM would be much cooler if the gargoyle didn't look like it was about to vomit. And I loved the HoD Game Over tune so much that I used it as the Shut Down music on my old computer. ;D

PoR, CotM, and SoTN.
The first PoR screen scared the living daylights out of me when I first saw it, mostly because I wasn't expecting it, but the next day I was talking to my friend about how awesome it'd be as a tattoo. :D
The bleeding Virgin screen, though, I found awesome, if not a little sad.
CotM's screen carried an air of melancholy for me. I don't know why. It was probably the music.

I like the Adventure Rebirth game over screen the best. It has the animated skull and the 16-bit laugh sound effect.
Runner up for me however would be AoS because I was able to find that painting in-game which was pretty awesome.
