Title: Limited Edition Vampire Killer Cartridge??!
Post by: crisis on December 02, 2010, 08:26:02 PM
Was browsing some forums (http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20105) until I came upon this rarity

This was found in "Mandarake in Nakano." According to the people at that forum, it was given to winners of a special competition held by Konami back in the day.

I doubt anyone outside of Japan owns this thing ;_____;

This is the gold cartridge by which only 2 exist in the world.

K. IKETANI or H. TAKEUCHI sold gold cartridge of an design contest award.
But, this is "参考出品 - Reference exhibition". It is not a article for sale.

Wow, that's super-rare if there are only two.  And it's gold-colored.  GOLD!

I've heard the standard version of the Mega Drive Vampire Killer is very rare too. much more so than the Bloodlines or New Generation. Is that true? I need to investigate. I know the japanese game was released some time after the western releases, and in a much smaller quantity too. Anyway, the gold cart looks nice. I want one! I don't see that happening though.. like, ever. LOL.

Trippy. Would've been cool if they did this in the US, but I guess that's trademarked by Zelda or something.

I heard of Vampire Killer by reading the covers here http://www.castlevaniadungeon.net/Games/cvbforeign.html (http://www.castlevaniadungeon.net/Games/cvbforeign.html) but it is confusing, which country renamed it to this?

"Vampire Killer" is the JPN name.
"The New Generation" is the EUR name.
"Bloodlines" is the USA name.

It can be confusing because "Vampire Killer" is also the name of the old Old OLD MSX title for JPN too.

"Vampire Killer" is the "Akumajo Dracula (MSX2 version)" EUR name.

Does anyone know what the middle image says? It actually has three Vampire Killer carts with just the logo. One gold, one silver and one.. uhm.. bronze maybe (I am colorblind so excuse my uncertainty).
