Title: Favourite Dracula Voice? (possible spoilers)
Post by: crisis on December 18, 2010, 03:25:30 PM
Who in your opinion is the best voice suited for Dracula?

Personally I like Steven Jay Blum's portrayal, but Scott McCulloch did a good job as well.

EDIT: Does anyone know who voiced Dracula in Adventure ReBirth?

The voice clips from Rebirth are taken from Castlevania Judgment "As ever, the ally of worthless Humans" and from Curse of Darkness "Pitiful Human, your kind cannot defeat me now!" (not sure about that 2nd one).

By the way, you forgot the Castlevania 64 Dracula.

Scott McCulloch is also credited in this game, but I don't think he's Dracula.
He's the Narrator (which is odd 'cuz he also sounds like Richter).  xD

I repeat my previous answer. (http://foorumi.linnavaanijat.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=783")

But..is my information incorrect? Was Douglas Rye not his voice in CoD? I'm pretty sure he was.

SotN was too spectacular to beat.

Original SotN one can't be beat. Robert Carlyle Dracula is way too emo (what is this "Dracula hiding" shit? Dracula doesn't fucking hide! He's Dracula!) and OoE/DXC/HD Dracula sounds like a teenager desperately trying to sound cool.

Now that I think about it the CoD Drac was pretty boss too. With NEW ATTACKS! gasp

How the hell are people even voting for SotN Dracula. ALL the voices in that game were completely stupid.

Patrick clearly takes the cake.

Except he doesn't? Derp.

No, it wasn't incorrect:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Rye (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Rye)

And remember the poll is "the best voice". It has nothing to do with how good or bad the game was.

Norio Wakamoto. He has a raw and rough voice that's in none of the other Dracula portrayals. GROWLTALKING. Otherwise, Douglas Rye for CoD.

And even though the title mentions spoilers, that LoS thing is way too huge to be thrown in there like that. If it's not possible to use a tag on those options, the actor's name  should be covered with something like You-know-who or whatever. But maybe that's just my silly opinion.

We have a regular spoiler thread, but not one that goes 'into' the poll like that.
And it's been two months already.  Do you really expect people to keep their spoilers 'spoilers' by now?  On top of that, the thread DOES say "Possible Spoilers".  Beware where you click, if you haven't played LoS...

Meh, do what you want. Personally I think it's too soon and the warning is too vague.

You forgot the "I don't know, my mind was recently violated by a dark priest" option.

I respect your opinion, but at the same time respectfully disagree with it.  If it says "Spoilers", then only two games that could apply to are Lords of Shadow and Harmony of Despair, they being the latest-released titles (maaaaaaybe Castlevania Adventure Rebirth).  I think the addition of "Spoiler" to the title of the poll is more than appropriate.

It's not about what the community and what I want are, it's about what's fair.  I don't think it's fair to chastise the thread creator for 'not being concrete enough' on the spoiler.  The fact that he even put "Spoilers" is already warranting merit.  At least he was considerate enough to put that there.

After reviewing the CoD credits (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DG959HZy0E"), I don't see Douglas Rye or Steven Jay Blum being credited anywhere. In fact it shows Crispin Freeman (Mathias from LoI) possibly reprising his role. It seems there might be a discrepancy (either on the internet or Konami's behalf)?

You sure that the Actor listing isn't for Motion Capture work? Reuben Langdon does a lot of that, as the motion capture artists between the PS2 Castlevania games and the Devil May Cry games were shared, of which he participated in. As does Adam Clark (listed as Adam D Clerk), who did voice AND motion capture work for Arkham in DMC3.

I'm gonna say Norio Wakamoto, he has such a great voice for villains. The voice of M.Bison / Vega / Dictator (Street Fighter) and Vicious (Cowboy Bebop) is the also the best Dracula voice for me.

Wow, I haven't played LoS yet (I just got it) but that video for Robert Carlyle and It seems so stupid. I vote eather Steven Jay Blum or Crispin Freeman.

Norio Wakamoto definitely has a distinctive voice. It was awesome hearing his as Dracula after hearing him in so many animes. 8)

Reuben only did motion capture for CoD. And Crispin Freeman was the voice actor for Hector in CoD, not Dracula. Adam D Clerk voiced Saint Germain and did motion capture for Issac for proof: (Adam D Clark as Issac and St Germaine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03SFAFNnfKY#)). I have no clue who voiced Dracula though.

On topic, I liked Patrick Seitz the best as Dracula.

SotN. I do however think the Japanese voice on the SS version I have sounds really cool.

Having Crispin Freeman ham it up as Mathias in Lament was just plain awesome. I mean, his final little monologue about why he became a vampire was just great.

of course, Symphony Dracula is just plain classic as well.
