Title: Favorite Heroes and Villains
Post by: Pentagram-cracker on December 20, 2010, 01:21:37 PM
Who are your favorite heroes and villains in the series and why?

My Favorite Hero: Maria Renard, I think she has some really cool powers, like the way she can summon animals to fight monsters instead of using normal vampire killing weapons like the Belmonts. Plus I like that she's a girly girl and not femme-masculine like most heroines in video games. I think once I finally get The Dracula X Chronicles she will be my most-used character in both Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night.

My Favorite Villain: The Succubus, I thought she was cool when I first saw her artwork by Ayami Kojima. She looks different in every game (and possibly isn't the same succubus), but she's always so beautiful and devilicious. She has really cool powers like her ability to take the form of the protogantist's loved ones and to steal hearts by forcefully kissing the main character. I also love the details Kojima always puts on her outfits, or lack of. :P

Favorite hero: Christopher or Simon, the classics.

Favorite villain: Uh... Dracula? Mainly in the games before Konami felt a pointless urge to explain that he was someone other than good ol' Vlad Tepes III. Loved him in the DXC opening, where his mere presence causes the cross on the church to crumple. So badass.

HERO
Good ol' Simon Belmont. His story in CV and CV2 was simple, but very awesome and lets not forget the stellar SCV4. Theme of Simon Belmont is one of the greatest songs in ANY video game series as well.

I don' really mind his redesign either.  :P

VILLAIN
It's a tie between weretiger and werejaguar. Their bestiary descriptions in AoS floored me. I imagine there must be some kind of crazy rivalry between the two. Since then, I just can't help but love them.

Hero must be Trevor or maybe Eric Lecarde...

Villain is Death:D

Trevor, of course... though I'm torn because Maria seems so nice... and Sypha as wel, with her mysterious entrance to CV as a man. But Trevor beats them... Just the pure bad assery ....

Villain...I am partial to Gaibon and Slogra. But if I can't have them as a pair, I'd say Death.. espiecially from sotn.

HERO: Belmonts. (I don't have a particular Belmont I like but I do respect Sonia the most.)

VILLIAN: Dracula. (the tried, trusted and true villian of the classic series and not the LoI fake.)

My top favourite heroes are Simon Belmont, Richter Belmont (from ROB), Christopher Belmont, Eric Lecarde & Cornell
My favourite Heroine is Sonia Belmont
My favourite supporting characters are Wind (I know he's Eric, but still), Rinaldo & Hammer
and I suppose my favourite Villain would be Dracula, although if we are talking just Bosses then I could list quite a few that I probably like better than Dracula.

As for why...
Well Simon introduced me to the world of Castlevania so that's probably one of the reasons why I like his character so much but aside from that the only reasoning I can come up with is because they are all pretty cool in my eyes.

Favorite Hero: Alucard, because he is the most well rounded and will never weaken as time passes due to the fact that he doesn't age.

Favorite Villain: Death, because he is the only one that can't ever be completely destroyed.  I mean he is death personified.  He was around before Dracula and he is around afterward.  Plus, in the end, he will be the final victor.  No one can avoid death, no even vampires.  The only way Death can truly die is if all beings that can die do.  If that happens, Death will cease to exist.

How 'bout St. Germain/Aeon?

Hero
Leon Belmont
His tragic nature made him my favourite video game character, period.
Leon started out as a knight in shining armor saving his betrothed from a certain evil vampire lord.
I always liked the whole "prince/knight in shining armor saving his damsel in distress" - trope, and Leon fits in just that.
(click to show/hide)
Leon didn't run away from his problems or agonize about them. He faced them head on with his head held high.
I also liked his honesty; most people would run off with any weapon their company provide for them, Leon left his behind.
Leon is also very modest, only moments after giving up his title as Baron, he treated Rinaldo as equals, I know I would still have the whole "Holier than thou" attitude if I was only recently demoted.
In my opinion, the Belmont Legacy and the birth of the Vampire Killer couldn't start out any better.
Love Leon Belmont so much!~

Villain
Dracula, without him, there will be no Castlevania, it's as simple as that.

Favorite Hero...
From the Belmonts, Julius. Because he's an awsome middle aged man rocking that badass facial hair in a family of 18 year old bishonen vampire hunters.

And Soma. theres just something about him. I like the concept behind his character. That and his 70's look from Aria.

Villain..? Hmm. Mathias. Not the Dracula that came after, but Mathias. The concept behind him is nice too. Plus.. come on. it's Crispin Freeman voicing him.

This is something I'd have to check out, but I fairly certain that Soma's AoS outfit is not of the 70's, but something far more recent.

Hero: Soma. I love the two Sorrow games and was so happy they announced DoS. Plus, the character's power and story are cool.

Villain: Dracula. Why? Because.

I'll say Christopher, because i didn't own a nes, so Castlevania The Adventure, was the first Castlevania for me and it was so great and with the Belmont's Revenge i was so in love with it.

Villain, who else could it be, except from Dracula? :o He is the incarnation of all evil!!!

i'll have to break this down by genders:
fav male hero:  Trevor - having to live with people afraid of you builds character, i'm of sure.
fav female hero:  Give me some more Sonja Belmont.  I don't care how you do it.  If there's something in the story you don't like, just take out that one part, don't throw away the character with it.  My theory still is that all the males in the Belmont Clan were wiped out by Dracula's forces, so she then became the true heir to the Vampire Killer whip and had the right to keep the Belmont name.

fav male villain:  I'd have to say Olrox right now.  on this board, a few pages of him were translated from a novel.  he paralyzed a fearless vampire hunter by having in his employ humans, who simply shot the hero without him ever killed a human before.  there's a gentlemanly quality to him, and he's a wild card.  i'd like to know more.  he gained control over Graham's cult and challenged the forces of chaos.  oh, an Brauner got to wear his suit in Harmony of Despair.  wonder if there is a connection between them in the iga-canon.

fav female villain:  i think there needs to be more Actrise.  that hair and hat =)  such dastardly deads.

yeah, other villainesses are like "yeah i get it, you're evil and a btch", but Actrise's evil hits a sore spot since it involved her own children and those of others and how that related to Carrie.

Actrice was one twisted bitch. She single-handedly makes just about every other villain in the series seem like a charity worker.
Title: Re: Favorite Heroes and Villains
Post by: Dominus on May 19, 2011, 07:50:40 AM
my favorites villians are Carmilla (novel fan) and Graham Jones (he is just cool) but...definitly the best villian goes to Actrise. She actually is the only true Complete Monster (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CompleteMonster) of the Series (as TV Tropes points  out), She is really bad  (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Understatement) lol

Lets See

The character must personally commit actions that are truly heinous by the standards of the story, which makes no attempt to gloss these over or present them in a positive light. Turning Carrie cousing in a vampire to mess up with a 12 years old mind. Check

The character's terribleness must be played seriously at all times, evoking fear, revulsion and/or hatred from the other characters in the story. Carrie is disgusted of how a sh..ty mom she is. Check

There is no adequate justification or Freudian Excuse to balance out the misdeeds. She just wanted to be pretty forvever so she killed like a hundred of kids including her daughter. Check

Characters that fit this trope must be completely devoid of altruistic qualities. She killed her daughter and likes to mind rape a 12 years old girl. Check

Most importantly, the character must have no chance of redemption, at least not without being considered a Karma Houdini. Before dying her face turned into a fugly thing, what she hated the most. Check
