1. Why are there so few Vampire enemies, other than Dracula, Elizabeth Bartley, Gilles and a couple others?
2. How old was Alucard when he was in CV: Legends and Castlevania SOTN?
3. Is Death really evil at all or is he just following orders?
4. Why does Annette turn into a succubus if you don't save her?
5. Who is Dracula's most dangerous servant?
-
1. We have Dracula, Elizabeth, Gilles, Malus (debatable), Walter, Joachim, Brauner, Carmilla, Olrox, Stella/Loretta(temporarily), Rosa, Laura. Vampires are at the top of the food chain in the CV Universe, so of course there will be more monsters than vampires.
2. In Legends, it looks like he was in his twenties; in SotN he was estimated to be 400 years old. You do the math.
3. Death as in the Grim Reaper sure is evil. He serves Dracula because Dracula is the Dark Lord, the King of Darkness.
4. Dracula's Magic.
5. Tie between Death & Galamoth.
-
But isn't Death the one that brings souls to either Heaven or Hell? If serves Dracula so faithfully, why not bring the souls of the deceased to the castle regardless of how they were in life
-
It's not confirmed or denied that Death brings the innocent souls to Heaven, but given his nature in the games it shows that he is also an enemy of God and has nothing to do with "good" souls. The fact is, we don't know.
-
According to wikia (and reinforced by LoS) Death is not, ehrm, Death, it's a very powerful reaper who is called Death, but it's not the word meaning itself.

1. How do people die if the Belmonts keep killing Death?
2. Why would Alucard give some random kid his family spear? Moreover, why does he have a family spear?
3. What is it with every important plot point in the series being spurred on by a dead wife?
4. Why the wacky and random discrepancies between character artwork and in game sprites hair? (Eric's artwork hair is blonde, in-game it's green; Shanoa's artwork hair is jet black, in-game it's brown; Gabriel's artwork hair is long and curly, in-game it's shorter, straight and shaggy, etc.)
5. Does Dracula just resurrect with new clothes each time? Is it part of the revival ritual?
(One other question - WTF is with the "Vincent you're scaring me!" dialogue in PoR? Is there a joke? If there is, it's so poorly translated that I just don't understand it.)
-
This is fun :D
1. They just kill the Grim Reaper, the personification of death or death's avatar.
2. Eric isn't a random kid, The Lecardes are also an offshoot of the Belmont Clan. He gave it to him cuz he's their ally. He has a family spear for the same reason he has the Alucard Shield; it's a family heirloom.
3. It's just the everlasting cycle of life/death/love/evil repeating itself.
4. Richter's sprite also has blue hair, & Simon has been changing wigs since the early 90's. It happens in real life all the time ;)
5. Just like his castle, his clothing is a creature of chaos. It may take on many incarnations.

Vincent was a pervert just like Hammer.

Eric's a decendant of the Belmonts?!? I've never heard or read anything about this. Him having the spear I can understand cause it was in the game, but when did Alucard ever have a family spear when he only had his family sword? And I've yet to see Eric wielding Alucard's shield (in-game or otherwise). When did all this happen? :o

Judgment implies that Alucard gives it to someone in the Lecarde family before Eric IIRC, so maybe an ancestor after the events of SotN, after the Belmont clan is unable to use the Vampire Killer.

1) there were plenty in the N64 games
2) Legends isn't a part of the cannon so it doesn't matter. In SotN, the manual says around 400, but it's more likely closer to 300. After all, I heard that he was suppose to be a teenager about 16 in CV3, which takes place 300 years before SotN.
3) If you believe LoI, he is loyal to the owner of the crimson stone and Dracula is the owner of it.
4) I think she suppose to be a female vampire (I don't know why she looks like a succubus). As to why she turns into one, I believe Dracula bites her.
5) Death. He is suppose to be Dracula's right hand man.

The Alucard Spear first appears in Symphony (Saturn version only). I only assumed the spear was a family heirloom, since all his other equipment was (well most of it anyway). The Alucard Shield tidbit was only an example (I fumbled my words, I meant to say Alucard owned the spear for the same reason he owned the shield, but according to the wiki he created the spear himself), who knows what he did with it post-Symphony.
Quote from the wiki,
Eric Lecarde was born on May 3, 1892 in Segovia (Spain) into a wealthy family who were related to the Belmonts by blood, and were entrusted in the 19th century by Alucard with a magical spear that he had created to compliment and assist the Vampire Killer whip

thanks for these post replies, this really clears things up for me. I knew he was born in spain, but the bloodlines manual was not very informative about the rest of his back-story.

1. The Belmonts have killed most of them. Or Dracula has enslaved them.
2. If his SotN form is any indication I'd say he had been in slumber for a really long time.
3. My interpretation is the Crimson Stone made him the obedient servant of Dracula's will. So he himself is not evil. I also think he is not the universal personification of death. He is more like an avatar. In the Japanese version he is called a "death god" which can mean any death deity. In other words, he may just be one of many "death gods".
4. Shaft had enough time to mindrape her.
5. Death. He is relentless and powerful.
-
5. Tie between Death & Galamoth.
Galamoth is not Dracula's servant, is he?
-
Galamoth is not Dracula's servant, is he?
Dunno. I don't think so? Maybe at one point (SotN), but I think he's just trapped there or something.
I have no idea why he's trapped in a room in Drac's Castle in SotN though. How did he even get in there? He's HUGE.

It seems he wants to claim Dracula's throne.

My thoughts about that is that Galamoth is some kind of demonic deity, as that ties into Dracula's Curse (Dracula's power is obtained by tricking a deity mentioned in the Japanese manual), explains Galamoth's imprisonment in some of the games, and his eventual fight for power from a time Dracula is no longer physically around to have power over him (Judgment). Sounds like a strange stretch, but it seems to make a bit of sense...at least to me ;_;

My theory is Galamoth is some sort of time traveling demon who needs to get rid of Dracula. At some point in time Dracula owned his ass and he ended up trapped in Floating Catacombs.
