yay or nay?

They never really had a single long-term actress to play catwoman so I don't really care about that. I do hope, however that this version of catwoman will not be the mentaly desturbed version that Tim Berton introduced in his second Batman film... :P Catwoman is not a crazy person. She's a jewel thief; pure and simple. And like any good feline, she can't help but take things that interest her. If I'm not mistaken that other pic is of Bane. That would be interesting to see on the big screen.

Awesome choice for villains, but Anne Hathaway? Really?
-
Tom Hardy for Bane

Hathaway is a boring wench. When I think of Selina Kyle - the sleek sensual and cunning thief that walks the line between criminal and vigilante - she is probably the last candidate I'd consider from the ones they announced a couple of months ago. Besides, if there was really a need for a female lead, Talia al Ghul would've been a better choice. Bane is a significant adversary of Batman but I would've preferred a villain never used in LA Batman. Hugo Stange, Hush etc. Hush would've wrapped up the trilogy nicely.
Nolan really shat on his "gonna use villains not used before" principle quickly, BTW.
-
Wasn't Catwoman played by Halle Berry?
-
Please ignore that movie.
For me, Catwoman will always be 60's Julie Newmar.
Ahhh, Julie Newmar

Guys, remember when it was first announced that Heath Ledger would be playing The Joker? The internet was raging BROKEBACK JOKER & how Batman would be ruined by that casting choice. We all know how that turned out :)
Thus, I have full faith in Nolan's decisions. It's going to be VERY interesting...

Yeah..he landed on a role that is pretty much any actor's wet dream, did ok, died and became an instant martyr legend who got a posthumous Oscar. And now his ghost hovers over the role, freezing it for years to come (making perfecting the role practically impossible for guys like Crispin Glover).
-

I very much disagree. As I was one who seriously did not give a damn about him. Didn't even know that he was in brokeback til now... though I did hear some gay jokes which now makes sense...
I thought he was pretty damn good at Joker... though I don't know how another might've done, since it could have just been good lines for the character. But it really was good, without the whole martyr thing.
-
Im so stoked to hear about Anne H as Catwoman! I alwasy loved her look, and think she has this dark sexy look that hasnt been utilized yet. Well now it will :)
-
I'm all for Anne Hathaway, because she's forkin' HORT.
Seriously, Nolan's done good with the first two flicks, and Ledger as Joker was a serious "WTF" casting choice that turned out great. I put some level of trust in Nolan and co. that they know what the hell they're doing.

Bring her on..
-
I'm really, really, REALLYREALLY happy they're putting Bane in this movie. The Knightfall story arc was awesome, and Bane was a great character. The writers kind of ran out of good ideas for him after that (like taking away his venom...wtf??), but he was the man in Knightfall.
I'm glad his character is in capable hands this time, compared to being portrayed as Poison Ivy's caveman thug from Batman and Robin. That was just shameful. Well...that, and the rest of that movie, I guess.
-
I read this thread with lackluster interest, but all of a sudden I see a picture of Hathaway, and for once she intrigued me. Thread is now gold.
-
Just look at those nipples. Things of beauty.
What I like most about her is she looks a hell of a lot like a girl I know whom I had a big crush on for a while. ;p A girl I'd never have a chance with... :( But looking at that see-through shirt, it's like I'm seeing my friend's boobs. :o

Indeed.
-
It'll be good. Probably not as good as The Dark Knight but close enough. Seriously, who's going to top Ledger as the Joker?
-
Ledger did a good job, but I don't see his performance as "AAMAAAAAAZIIIIIIIIIIINNNGGGG!!!!!!" I think his death way overhyped his role in the film; I guarantee if he hadn't died, the general public wouldn't be creaming their pants over his role like they do.
-
I never really liked the Joker character in The Dark Knight to be honest. There were a couple of scenes where the Joker shined but that was about it. I much prefer the Tim Burton Joker as played by Jack Nicklson. He was and still is imo the best Joker to date. For me the only real villane to steal the show in the Dark Knight was Two-Face. Though short-lived he was such a dynamite character. Nothing scared him and everyone, evan those mafia guys feard him. There was talk going around as to whether or not, he would be in the third movie, but now it's confirmed that he's dead.
-X
-
I haaaaaate Nicholson's Joker. :p
Visuals aside, I don't care for Burton's Batman films.
-
really? I think Jacks Joker was like THE Joker that could never be topped. He was perfect. Heaths was good too but the totally other end of the spectrum of who The Joker is
-
I liked both, but I liked Heath's Joker better. I didn't think I would. I thought Nicholson's Joker was pretty good, but it wasn't too far removed from his persona he has in all his other movies.
-

Indeed.
What I really hate is now it'll probably be decades before someone else is going to be given a fair chance to do better. Competing with a dead man is a bitch.
-
I like The Dark Knight, but I think Batman Begins is even better. There are so many little elements that tie the film together. The Dark Knight is a great movie too, and I actually don't think Ledger's performance is overrated, but it doesn't have the brilliant, intricate writing that Batman Begins has.
-
I was never too big a fan of the odler batman movies.. odd I know. But I was never a big movie person ... I only really watched multiple snippets at different times. that might've made up the whole move.
That said, I think Jack Nicholson looked awesome as Joker. But I think Heath's was better... I liked the lines in the newer one.
-
I honestly cant imagine Anne as Catwoman. I cant visualize it.
But she's really really hot so im sure it'll do fine.
Bane? sure why not. We'll see.
on Joker-
Yknow who the best Joker of the all truly is?
Mark Hamill. Sorry, but nobody can top Mark's Joker.
Here's a guy who does a mean mark Hamil Joker impression giving an impression of what a dark knight with Hamill might be like.
The Dark Knight - Mark Hamill Joker Round 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeC-UZF37Gg#)
Joker Scene with Mark Hamill - VOICE TEST (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqzxuKaWtvc#)
To be honest, Dark Knight's Joker is just not as "amused" as Mark's is half the time. So there isnt much room for change with that, but it DOES sound sinister you gotta admit
-
^That does not matter as he does not do LA. When that happens, then he'll matter in the context of the convo.
Sides Mark Hamil is goign to quit Joker. =/
-
Oh it certainly matters.
The joker is NOTHING without a voice.
And its not like Heath can do Joker anymore either.
I was just sayin'
-
Yea... and a live action joker is nothing without an actor. Unless you want Mark Hamil to dub over an actor or something >.>
No, he can't... but who cares? I mean really...? I doubt they'll bring back Joker... I doubt that'll be an attention grabber. Next Batman movie! THE JOKER! oh wait, we already did him!
-
I think the Joker character should've died in the Dark Knight. Heath Ledger is dead now and there's really no way for someone else to fill the Joker role should they decide to bring him back in a later film. But Mark Hamill does a really good Joker voice and it's amusing to watch the WB Batman series just for that character. :)
-X
-
yeah mark hamills done the voice for the joker for years now and hes damn good
-
i had no idea.. anyone have a link to some of his voice clips for the Joker?
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gBWpWwIBKw
Mark Hamill does the best Joker voice hands down but honestly, I wouldn't like to see him act it out on the big screen (& Mark probably wouldn't even wanna do it anyway); it works best for the cartoons/games & should stay that way. Joker/Jack Napier from 1989 Batman was awesome, a classic performance, but when compared to TDK's Joker... I see more of Jack Nicholson acting like The Joker than actually being Joker, whereas TDK's Joker Heath does a really good job of portraying the insane killer without a real identity. He literally threw himself into the role, became The Joker so-to-speak. I dunno if that makes any sense, kinda hard to describe but that's how I feel lol. Maybe it's the age difference?
Isn't it a good thing that most people can't picture Ms. Hathaway as Catwoman? Nobody knows what to expect, and that's what makes these movies great imo.
-
Mark Hamill's Joker is fantastic and fits the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini universe perfectly, but I have reservations about calling him the definitive Joker. The Joker in the comic books is often a far more sinister bastard than how he is in the cartoons. I thought the guy who voiced the character in Batman: Under the Red Hood did a good job.
lol, Hamill doing the Joker live-action would be so retarded and cartoony. He totally overdramatizes to get that vocal performance out. All the other voice actors for the cartoon would deliver their lines sitting down, but Hamill would always stand and be really animated and goofy.
-
I thought the guy who voiced the character in Batman: Under the Red Hood did a good job.
He did do a good job and it's also amusing that his voicing the joker makes it almost sound like Mark Hamill. I was confused about this until I watched the credits role.
-X
-
DiMaggio doesn't sound like Hamill IMO. He sounds more menacing. I agree that he did a great job. If there is to be a "successor" to Hamill, he's definitely got a chance.
Bruce Greenwood was a great Batman too. Maybe a bit too enthusiastic, but so was Kevin Conroy in the earlier Batman TAS episodes. I'd love to hear more of him in the role.
-
Thing about DiMaggio's Joker is he sorta creeped me out and made me think of him as a mass-murdering psychopath. Hamill's Joker is mostly all looney tunes with a mean streak.
-
DiMaggio did a pretty good joker. It really sounded like he was trying to fill Hamill's shoes, and I think he did so wonderfully.
You know who else was good in Under the red hood? Jensen Ackles. Never expected to hear his voice in a cartoon. But when it comes down to it, he DOES emote very well. That much is clear from Supernatural. he was an interesting Red hood.
-
Dude... Jensen Ackles did an awesome job. I didn't know about him til I watched supernatural, but the dude can act. His Red Hood was damn awesome too.
-
Look who's added to the Dark Knight Rises cast:
http://movies.ign.com/articles/114/1147324p1.html (http://movies.ign.com/articles/114/1147324p1.html)
I laughed, because I was thinking as I watched Inception, that this guy looks ALOT like Heath Ledger, and I can see him filling in as the Joker, if they really needed someone. Sure, it would create alot of controversy, but you never know who can surprise you.
-
I wish they'd forget the Joker for this continuity. I don't think I could stomach another round of comments like "RIP HEATH" and "Joseph is good but he isn't comparable to Heath's amazing performance".
-
Jack Nicholson is still the best Joker in my opinion. I did not very much care for heath's performance, however, I'm one of those comic book nerd types that wants things to be as close to exactly like the comic books as they can be.
Also I'm wearing a flame retardant suit and a welding mask.
Jack nicholson might be a good Black Mask too.
But no to chris rock as the riddler.
I keep hoping they'll use some of the more obscure villains from the series. But they never do.

Was posted on the second page. She has a very recognizable face.
:p

I wasn't meaning to be rude. Also I don't recall if I saw that picture or not.
I still don't know who she is, sorry to say. She is pretty though and it will make catwoman more workable, I can recall several occasions in the comics where sexual tensity went between the bat and the cat. She's always been a rather sexual character.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been confirmed,
Speculation has run rampant regarding the role, with blogs pegging the part as The Riddler or Deadshot, but insiders tell Variety that Gordon-Levitt will be playing Alberto Falcone, the son of Mafia chieftain Carmine Falcone, the character Tom Wilkinson played in "Batman Begins."

After THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, He Will Reboot!
Published on: Mar 29, 2011 12:04:21 PM CDT
Beaks here...
We've been hearing rumors to this effect for a while, but now the L.A. Times' intrepid Ben Fritz has confirmed it: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will be the final chapter in Christopher Nolan's Batman run. Once he's finished, the character will be rebooted (with Nolan's input), and, most likely, attached to a narrative that will lead to a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie in 2013.
Fritz got all of this from WB president Jeff Robinov, who also briefly discussed the development of FLASH and WONDER WOMAN movies (the latter being wholly separate from David E. Kelley's goofy-looking TV adaptation). It sounds like they're hoping to mimic the Marvel strategy, which has been all about assembling THE AVENGERS for a 2012 release (production on that film is already underway). Nothing shocking there.
More interesting to me is Devin Faraci's observation that Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will be the first time we see a filmmaker's superhero run reach a definitive end. While I'm told there's some nervousness (if not outright displeasure) about this at WB, there's very little they can do: this is Nolan's show, and he's going to finish it on his terms.
Which means WB will be watching the box office returns for Sony's THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN very closely...

While I'm sad that Nolan's Batman films are ending with this one, I also like the idea of the series having an "ending". Most superhero movies seem to just stop being made without the characters actually reaching any final conclusion. I'm curious what Nolan has in mind to end the Batman series.
-
I am glad to see proper ending to the series. I am sick hearing of another reboot.
-
... What you have to understand is that this is the 1st Comic Book film Series to have
Started, Middled and Ended with the same Director for each film. If you look at any comic Film from either Marvel or DC non of their properties that were splashed on theatre screen ever began, middled or ended. This is a 1st and will for the time being be the last time we see something like this happen where a Studio gave a director cartblanche authority as Nolan was allowed with his Batman Trilogy. No one hits a Million Dollars twice at the Casino so look for a looooong lul before someone like Nolan pops up again to tacle a Comic Film.
... The Batman that is being introduced in film IV is not Nolans Batman but a Batman non the less whose shaped to be one that co-exists in the same world as Superman, Green Lantern, The Flash and Wonder Woman and other DCU Characters. Wether or not the new Batman films enter the realm of Joel Shumackers Batman 3 and Batman and Robin well we're just gonna have to see what the future holds for the Batman Film series after The Dark Knight Rises in 2012.
-
Part of me is pissed that another series is being rebooted, but then I consider how Nolan is handling it all his own way and wants it to end, and that makes me feel better. It'd be its own self-contained thing, like Miller's The Dark Knight Returns and The Dark Knight Strikes Again.
That said, this next movie after TDK Rises isn't interesting me based on the short description/plan. Justice League? Really? I always found them to be the biggest batch of ninnies ever. In my opinion, only Superman and Batman should exist in their world...and it should be a world that is earth, but isn't earth as we know it? Or something. Where like Superman is a big part of Bruce Wayne's inspiration for becoming Batman, doing the whole "donning the cape" superhero bit. And stuff. There don't need to be any more super-powered superheroes than Superman, IMOz.
-
I'd say Justice League movie will fail.
At least without some ingenious director. Otherwise it will be impossible to create movie that will properly display seven powerfull and prominent characters, showcase all their abilities, give them a decent villain and non-idiotic plot and show some conflicts in the group.
-

So..Avengers is gonna fail too..?
-
Wow, that's awesome that Nolan's giving it a definitive end. It's cool that he seems more interested in the legacy his films will have, opposed to how much money he can rake in within a certain period of time. Wish they could say the same thing for the studio. :-\
A friend at work was telling me they're putting the Holiday Killer in the movie, and Holiday's identity could be changed. I'm glad to see that some things from The Long Halloween are being incorporated. That's probably one of my favorite Batman stories.
-
So..Avengers is gonna fail too..?
It depends. If they are aiming for serious movie with interesting characters and smart plot, than I am sure it will fail.
If they are aiming to create summer blockbuster with tonnes of CGI and stupid jokes, then I am absolutely sure they will succeed and movie will be a hit. Like Transformers.
-
Sure. I eagerly await Cap America making thought-provoking serious speeches while wearing bright spandex ???
I personally don't expect either the Avengers or a possible JL movie to provide anything else than great entertainment. The Justice League cartoon series was just that and it kicked ass. I don't want anything like Superman Returns or hell, even Spider-Man anymore.
The point I was making is that Avengers, JL or any other hero ensemble movie face the same problems.
That being said, I'm sure most of us can agree that when it comes to animated movies about their characters, DC has, so far, pretty much beaten Marvel.
-
Fuck everything else, this is gonna be the comic book adaptation of the century!
http://screenrant.com/batman-gotham-high-concept-art-benm-95793/ (http://screenrant.com/batman-gotham-high-concept-art-benm-95793/)
::)
FYI: This was never concept art for an animated series. It's just fan art that a film media site decided to run with. The concept is atrocious, but the art itself is so well done that I almost want a network to pick it up and produce it anyway.
EDIT: Uh, the rolleyes smiley seems to be broke.

As the end of the trilogy, this looks to be stellar. I find it interesting that they chose Bane for this movie, seems like an odd move but hey I love Bane so that's awesome. Here's hoping the Penguin appears as a side villain, if he does it would be cool if Danny Devito played him like the original second batman movie.
-

Just as long as they don't put him in with the whole circus troop thing that Tim Burton did. That was NOT what I thought the Penguin should be. Old Timmy really needs to leave the clowns alone when doing these types of movies.
