Sorry if this has been posted before but I've searched google for multiple wordings and can't find anything. Basically I'm looking for a patched/hacked rom or remake of the NES games that let you whip in 8-directions. Does that exist? I expected there to be at least one but all the hacks I've found so far just change the graphics e.t.c.
Also any kind of clone of Super Castlevania IV would be nice, preferably on 3rd/4th generation.
Thanks!

I"ve yet to hear about a NES CV hack that does this. Did you hear about this from somewhere? I'm curious now.

Nah it's just I've recently got into the series with CV4 and now I'm playing the NES games it's not as fun without a free whip, I find myself going back to CV4 a lot. I figured it would be doable with the abundant amount of graphical hacks.

Multi-directional whipping in the older games would suck, to be honest.
It's like saying the original Mega Man games should have wall jumping.
-
The difficulty of the old games would be ruined with multi direction whipping.
Have you played Bloodlines yet? They don't allow you to attack in all directions but you can attack diagonally.

Really 8 directional whipping in a 8bit cv game would be kinda interesting, but a little unnecessary. The 3 games that released on it are fine without it. CV started it all obviously, CV2 introduced rpg elements, CV3 ditched the rpg elements and added character swapping, and finally CV4 got rid of the character swapping and added 8 directional whipping and a new presentation. What I am getting at is that the 8 directional whipping is what made that game unique(not counting the metrovania style games) and was it's "hook", putting that in a remake of one of the older games would take away CV4's unique feature.

i always felt Simon's crouch-walk was the hook o.o

Yeah I can see how it would ruin the game for some people, but it's something I would really like, not even 8 directions just the ability to whip up would be nice. I imagine some people, who liked CV2 the most from the series, would be interested in a hack to make the other games more RPG like.

Not yet, but it's next on my list after CV3. I played SotN years ago on XBLA though and I enjoyed it, but that was mainly because of multiple weapons and stuff.

I made some sprites of Simon whipping up, down and diagonally. Not sure if they are still on the site. I was hoping that someone would use them in a hack. I don't have the passion to learn how to hack so I just have them lying around waiting for employment.

This would be interesting to see, but it would be pretty complicated to actually implement I'd imagine. I have no idea if CV1 would even have room for several extra Simon attack sprites...
What would be the sub weapon attack, select? What about in CV3 where you need select to change characters?
