um anyone else think it strange that in cv2 you use hearts as currency... i mean just rip out some monsters heart and use it as money and if thats the case simon is filthy rich while all the villagers are probably poor if not broke there best chance at some are stealing one of the old mans staff and clubing his best freind. ;D
-
theres nothing strange about castlevania 2.
-
but how do all the villagers get money then
-
working on their jobs?
-
this thread is lol, How will the werewolfs feast?
-
They eat their own money.

isn't it even weirder how in the other games hearts are ammunition? I mean, how do you turn a monster's bloody heart into knives or whatever? Whoooooahahahaooooahhhhooooo!
-
Hearts are the 'heart' and will of the character to fight. When your will to fight decreases, your battle ability (the use of subweapons) decreases.
-
And Castlevania II inspired Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.
-
I still wonder what Simon's Quest would be like with candles instead of relying on monster heart drops.
-
why is it that you die if you jump in the water?

I think it would be more akin to the original game-play. I feel that the whole money thing couldv'e worked better had they used the moneybags from the first game and just had the hearts remain as ammunition like they've always been.

Blood magic maybe? If you save up bloody hearts you dont need to sacrifice something right on the spot.
lol.

CV2 is kinda weird. I guess they didn't want more variables?
-Hearts are the source of ammunition for subweapons such as the sacred flame, golden dagger, and diamond.
-Hearts are also the method of currency from shopkeepers in the game.
-Lastly, Hearts are also your experience points. If you kill an enemy and it doesn't drop a heart to collect, you also don't get its experience value in order to level up. It's really messed up if you are having an unlucky streak where enemies won't cough up the goods (always beat up gargoyles in the mansions, where time stands still).
It's messed up that they didn't give you an XP value upon defeat, for enemies, instead of the 'heart'. It's also messed up that they didn't keep a money value and had you pick up money bags instead of hearts from enemies, randomly.
This is what I would fix if it were up to me to do a remake.

Always wanted to know: how Dracula places his candles onto an air. They are everywhere!
-

No one hasn't answered my question... :-[
-
cuz Belmonts can't swim. occam's razor my friend ;)
rather, Simon couldn't.
-
Heavy plated armor.
I guess that's why SotN Richter, Julius, Soma, and company can easily swim.
Fun fact: there were no swimming areas in Harmony of Dissonance, so Juste may or may not have sunk in water.
-
Belmonts never learned how/found the relic for swimming for a long time? :P
Could any Belmont swim before SotN? I don't recall if there were actual pools of water in Harmony or not.
Jorge beat me to it.

Not true. In the Luminous Cavern in the A castle there is a flooded area which needs to be drained using the floodgate key in order to get to Death. I once tried to see if I could get to Death without draining the cavern. I couldn't. As soon as the water got above Juste's knees, his HP started to drop really fast. So it would seem that Alucard and the Belmonts need a relic to get through flooded areas whereas Soma needs a certain soul.

This is really fuzzy memory but I remember being able to make it, but then...
the boss door wouldn't open. And I was like
hisssssssssssss
-
Yah that was glitchy-as-hell at best.
And that wasn't 'swimming' it was 'walking underwater' and hurt like the Dickens.
I meant swimming like how Soma/Julius does it (although in DoS, the Julius Mode people sink and are magically able to breathe underwater somehow).

they're all borrowing arikado's holy symbol/snorkel
