Title: Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Release
Post by: darkjak951 on February 16, 2011, 12:42:57 AM
I am aware that there is a topic about this already but I would rather not grave dig(and isn't that against the rules anyway?). Anyway, I just got the special edition of the game today and it didn't come with anything special, just a nice comic/art booklet(very small at that) and a code for dlc and a month of free digital marvel comics. I just don't like that capcom is waiting a month to put the dlc up for just those characters >_>. Anyway, the game itself is a blast to play and pretty easy to learn too. I am enjoying it, any of you guys doing the same?

I was thinking about getting the "special edition" but now that you've mini-reviewed it, I'll be getting the standard version instead (i figured it wouldn't contain anything that special anyway).

I hope the DLC characters aren't anybody obscure that noone cares about, but Capcom pretty much confirmed Frank West (they said his model/move set was pretty much complete but he got cut for whatever reason) & Phoenix Wright (despite him appearing in the game anyway).

The excuse they gave for omitting MegaMan was totally ridiculous ("he doesn't offer anything new"), and where the hell is Strider?!

The DLC characters are Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath, they will be avaible on March 15 2011 for $5 / 400MS each character.

It does also come with a nice tin case with some awesome artwork on it....if that means anything. Also the DLC Characters are Jill Valentine(not STARS, the one from RE5) and Shuma Gorath. Shuma looks awesome but jill....eeeeh. Granted there were only like 5 screens of her but so far they didn't show anything particularly special about her. I am guessing she is going to be in between wesker and chris and will have a balance of range and close up attacks. One thing that pisses me off about this game the most though is that they have yet to fix Sentinal and Spiderman, Sentinal is broken still and Spiderman is STILL low tier....come on give some respect for the wallcrawler :(.
Edit: Oh and a lack of spectator mode, which is inexcusable since Capcom has done it before...

I know that those are the 2 confirmed ones, it's the semi-confirmed characters I'm curious about (like Frank & Phoenix).

There are soo many awesome characters that didn't make the roster (Venom, Jin, etc.), I hope they plan on releasing A LOT more in the coming months!

I............. hate it.

The whole idea of having 3 attacks rather than 3 punches and kicks really annoyed me. I found myself not know what the hell I was pulling off and how. Seriously a let down for me.

I like it but I think some of the characters could have been better picks. I like X-23, but she seems to be a faster Wolverine, there is no need for She-Hulk, she's lame. And who really likes Dark Stalkers enough to have 3 characters from it, especially 3 characters we've seen before? Strider and Venom would have been two picks I would have included.

There are not any other characters confirmed or semI-confirmed... But, Capcom is running polls and asking fans to request for your favorites characters for DLC...

Don't let the simple controls confuse you,.. I really don't like the MvC series but the gameplay is far much deeper than what the people think...

Niitsuma semi-confirmed Frank West by saying his character model was created & ready to go complete with moves, but they ran into complications late in the game so he was cut at the last second. I'd say that counts as a semi-confirmation for DLC (just like how they said DeeJay's model was made & finished for SFIV, but due to time restrictions he had to be cut thus adding him to SSFIV).

They went with the Tatsunoko Vs Capcom style of gameplay in order to add accessibility for newbies. There technically is a 4th attack button but thats used primarily for vaulting enemies into the air and then if you press it with the dpad being pressed opposite direction of your current character, you'll switch characters and will be able to continue the air combo. Its not new, but I like that it's easier to pull off now. I don't play these mashup games for complicated strategies though, I play it for the fun which is why i like series like super smash bros and the Capcom Vs series. To be honest I liked MVC1 the best though, 2 was broken beyond belief and now that I have 3 I probably will never touch it again.

Mine comes in a few days, I'm not in a hurry to play it.
It'll probably arrive next week though, with my luck...

So yeah I finally picked it up.. the controls were kinda wonky at first but I'm getting used to it. I'm having fun with it  :)

What I really had to get used to was the fact that vaulting an enemy up in the air only requires one button press, pretty handy but it is a bit weird at first.

I like the simplistic button scheme, but only 'cuz I already got used to it with Tatsunoko VS. Capcom.
"TAUNT BUTTON!"

THIS IS MY TAUNT!

I like the 1-button launch, since it makes air juggling much easier. Of course, this also means others can juggle me nearly endlessly, but I'm getting the hang of it too.

Gotta figure out to to effectively use the X-Factor, too.

X-Factor is a comeback tool, the less characters you have the more powerful it is, when you only have 1 character left you get the better buff and X-Factor last longer (20secs).

I beat the game with all characters, etc. Now I'm just fine tuning my mad skills for online play & friends.

I really hope the DLC will be worth it. I like the current roster but it just feels incomplete (more stages is a must, too)
