Title: Handheld Titles - Suggestions?
Post by: REmaster on March 03, 2011, 12:29:25 AM
Hey guys and girls. I consider myself a pretty big fan of Castlevania, but ironically I've never played hardly any of the handheld titles. I bought a PSP just for Dracula X Chronicles, but other than that's about it. I bought a Nintendo DS just for Resident Evil: Deadly Silence, but unfortunatly I lost my charger cord not long after getting it. I finally picked up a new charger cord five years later. I decided to start in order and go with the GBA titles first, so I got Circle of the Moon for ten bucks yesterday.

I was really enjoying it too until I found out that I can't save for some reason. Eithier it's a pirated game (I got it at Gamestop, so maybe they didn't inspect it to much), or it's battery chip is low. The funny thing is, it only erases the save data when I charge my DS. I've tried taking the game out when I charge but it still erases it. I don't know. I wish they would've released more metroidvania's on home consoles :( Does anyone have any suggestion's as to which game I should purchase/play next? I was thinking maybe AOS or OOC?

Thats a problem with your handheld system, not the game.

Why come it only effects Circle of the Moon? Resident Evil DS and Namco Museum work and save just fine.

Not sure. I don't know what the specific problem is. I had that problem with my own hand held system and took it to the store for repairs. They took something out of it and put a new one in. After that it worked fine.

Not necessarily; my copy of Circle doesn't save either! I've done some research & more than likely you got a pirated copy, there are A LOT of them floating around these days, so the best bet is to buy it brand-new (with box, instructions, etc.) just to be safe. I found out the hard way (getting all the way up to those caverns & saving, only to turn it on the next morning & see my file gone). Your cartridge may keep your save for a lil while but it WILL eventually delete itself (or not save at all). Harmony of Dissonance is also notorious for this kind of problem (pirated/bootleg copies) so if you decide to get that next, make sure it's a legit copy.

Not sure what "OOC" is, but you should tackle Harmony next. The twin castles may confuse you at first but it's still an excellent playthrough. If you wanted to play through them in cronological order, then it'd be like this:

Harmony
Circle
Ecclesia
Portrait
Aria
Dawn

if ur neurotic then you would play Order of Shadows (the cellphone game) before all the others

Ooh! Chronological order.  :) you could play it that way or you could play them in the order of their releases.

That's interesting. My Harmony started deleting saves after a few years but it wasn't bootleg. I guess I just beat down on it too much.
