I want to see them, I want their music and story! Tell me how it ends, Cox! (We want a trailer, also.)

Might be more interested once more info is released/as we get closer to release, but at this moment.. don't really care. It'll probably be overcharged (i'm thinking $15-$20) and someone may argue that's "cheap," but consider the fact that the game already costs $60 ($65 including tax or, if you bought the collector's edition, about $80+tax), all forthcoming DLC should be FREE. Probably my main reason why this DLC (or any DLC for that matter) isn't nothing to cream over. That and lack of sufficient advertising, etc.

I also think it's retarded that the only "updates" we get now is through random Twitter feeds.

I never bothered to finish LoS cause it was way too alien to be a CV game, so I won't bother with the DLC.

I voted the second option. If its better than the main game, then I'd definitely buy it. If the first ones a disappointment though I doubt I'll look forward to the second.

Well unlike the majority of the main game, it takes place within a castle.

Which is already a major improvement.

Of course who doesn't wanna know more about the ending? and more gameplay is sweet, 2 years for a sequel is a long time, I need my 3D creature killing dose.

I'm really interested in Resurecction mostly because i want to see what Cox is going to do with the whole Gabriel being Dracula thing and who the hero will be since playing as Dracula would be kinda lame since i really would rather fight him instead.

I honestly do not give a crap about Reverie however lol.

I'm still very excited for both the dlc but I'm just not thinking about it as much. I'm curious to see what exactly brings Gabriel back to the castle. I doubt Laura's just going to come and ask him for help

Gabriel splits himself in half. You read it here first!

That's easy. Zobek's narration is what brings Gabriel back to the castle.

these might be "lame" explanations but look at what we're dealing with here  ;]

Well I didn't vote for any of those options because none applied. I'm not going insane over it, and I don't dislike the game or the idea of the DLC. I'm just patiently waiting, and hoping it will add to the already great game. Why isn't that an option? This poll is extremely biased. Anyway, soap box done.

Hopefully it'll answer some questions about the plot, and give us an awesome gameplay experience.

Smells like option 2.  Hoping for the DLC to be better than the main game doesn't necessarily mean that you have a derogatory opinion of the main game...  Unless there's something else?

Considering how the other options are put, "hopefully it's better than the main game" comes across as pretty derogatory.

Anyway, they finally posted a trailer for Reverie.

I still think it's open for interpretation, but I'll concede the issue.  Fixed, and now reads "Hopefully it's even better than the main game"  Now there's you're positive spin.  :-)

Thanks for posting the trailer BTW.

Needs a price first. Current gen pet hates of mine include DLC which contains the real ending, the nickel and diming bastards.

800 MS points/10 dollars, 2 chapters, roughly 3-4 hours long.

I'm probably going to buy it now.

Yknow, if they were to ever make a sequel to LoS, they really should make more use of the amazing art style used for the character art and all that. I was so disappointed that the regular versions in EU and US got the overly typical "rendered model cover" rather than the really cool cover using the games art style.

as for the DLC, FUUUUUUUUUUUUU

My 360 not only has only 30 MB left of memory, but I still have to connect it to the internet.

When I heard about this DLC, I can't lie, I raged. Expecting gamers to pay extra for content that almost every other modern Castlevania has included for free? Did we pay to play as Richter in SotN? Trevor in CoD? I don't think so. For me, Lords of Shadow was over before the Carmilla fight; after that, it was only overstaying its welcome.

Do you realize no one is forcing you to buy this right? And if you didn't like LoS after Carmilla so why bother about this chapter?

I love DLC and think its great Castlevania is getting some. Without DLC we would either have to wait for Lords of Shadow to be released after April, or not have this extra stuff at all or maybe have to wait til the sequel.  If you don't like it, don't get it, its that simple. Also DLC is great because for fighting games you can get new characters like in MvC3. I'd still be playing Smash Bros Brawl if it had new downloadable characters... I wish they would have done that!

Well, you CAN get new Characters and stages in Brawl.  For free!
Just, not official Nintendo ones. :P

Nobody is forcing me to buy it, but the fact is Konami sold me a Casltevania game noticeably lacking content that comes standard in the series, but for full price. Paying $60 dollars for a Castlevania game with no bonus characters, no secret stages, no secret bosses, and no second/expanded quest is a bit ridiculous.
MegaMan 10 was a full MegaMan game by the series standards; it had all the typical content, the DLC was stuff no MegaMan game had ever offered (bonus characters, challenge stages, etc.). The fact of the matter is that by the franchises' standards, LoS was a bare-bones package. They may have artificially extended the games length by throwing in tons of repetitive (and long) fights boss fights, but that doesn't mean the game was particularly impressive content-wise. I don't appreciate Konami selling substandard games and expecting me to shell out more money for stuff that any other Castlevania game would have included.
Are they gonna make us pay to get an actually full inventory of subweapons too? 500 Microsoft points to get the axe and stopwatch? Where does this kind of thing stop?

To tell the truth, the music seems sub-par to me, listening to it on its own. Although I was excited in the past, going a new direction.
Looking at it now, maybe its just too overly "remade", too close to another platformer. Reading more details about the missing segments of this game, feels like a shallow move. Sure it may be worth the purchase price, but to find out that its missing key components just sucks out the reason to pull through every obstacle, to really enjoy it.

(Why I haven't bought it yet? Have you seen the price?) And seeing how the DLC may be pushed to a higher $. Makes me feel even more uneasy.

You lost me here.
First, the game is the longest action adventure game yet this generation.
Second, from 22 Cv games only 9 have secondary playthrough.
Third, do you think that programming and rendering a secret 3D boss is easy? cheap? at the level of detail of loS? you gotta be kidding  :P

Yeah no game these days is that long, with a few exceptions, I would hardly say it was lacking in any content. Secret characters are  a waste unless they have a plot of their own, sure they can be fun, but if nothing major is changed in the game, it's no deal breaker. And if you want side quests or something they always have the challenges for the stages.

I feel the game was worth the $80 I bought the special edition for,and I'll gladly pay the extra $20 or so dollars for the two DLC packs. My thanks goes out to Mr. Cox for the dlc

$10 is the most I'll pay, not a cent more.  I'd love to see some avatar goodies come along with this as well.  Hell, I'd pay a few for Gabriel's outfit and a Combat Cross

Well, it seems to me that the DLC is more or less going to make or break the current direction Castlevania is going in, since  it seems like it's going to establish the origin of Dracula among other things. So yes, I am extremely interested.

Not to mention that compared to other games with DLC, LoS is suprisingly complete even without any DLC, avoiding the DLC trap of selling half baked games and then charging you for features that should have already been standard. Or for features that were already on the game but require "unlocking" payment. LoS came out. it was good. They decided to make 2 DLC chapters for it after the fact. Whats the issue?
Title: Re: Lords of Shadow DLC --Interested or no?

DLC irritates me only when I feel the full game was released half-finished and then developers charge more money to 'complete' the game. That was NOT the case with LoS. 15-20 hour action game are unheard of these days. It may not have bonus characters, secret stages and hidden bosses, but does that really matter when you have a more complete main game?
Title: Re: Lords of Shadow DLC --Interested or no?
Post by: kadosho on March 22, 2011, 12:18:57 PM
Catching up, 15-20 hours now that is a full game right there.
Most I have heard actually reaching was 10 hours (some even less).
Mainstream = shorter. And that's a bummer, seeing how much games cost lately.

I still have LoS on my "Want List". I just can't afford it right now.
But when I do buy, and play, maybe my opinion may change. So I still have an open mind =D
