Title: Castlevania 3DS - Launching in May (Don't get too excited)
Post by: Ahasverus on March 04, 2011, 01:30:29 AM
No more to add http://helldescent.com/2011/03/03/castlevania-coming-to-the-3ds-as-early-as-may/ (http://helldescent.com/2011/03/03/castlevania-coming-to-the-3ds-as-early-as-may/)
They are remaking the original games IN 3D!! Neat isn't it?  :)

Another reason to buy a 3DS I suppose.

We totally need CV3 in 3D (provided it isn't remade). Japanese version re-translated, like that one awesome rom hack floating around out there. Also an option for USA version music and difficulty changes would be nice.

OK, I know it'll never happen... But where would we be without dreams?..

I can't wait for a new 3ds title, but this will do fine for now.

I've got that rom. It's sweet! The story make a hell of a lot more sense too. I'll still wait before buying a 3DS. I'll pick it up when the CV title in question is available.

Holy shit. Finally an SQ remake?  8)

Edit: could someone link that DC re-translation you're talking about? If you can't do it here, send me a PM.

It' s not really a remake, isn't it? Just a remastered version. I got a bit excited there for a moment despite the warning. Oh well.

i like the idea of a possible re-localization of nes/famicom games that these new versions could provide.  it'd be nice if they relocalized the manuals as well.

The article actually only mentions CV1.  There's no mention of CV2 or CV3 at this point.

Having the original castlevania remastered is pretty awesome but i would MUCH rather see games like CV2 and CV3 get this same treatment aswell.

I'm glad they're actually releasing this. When I heard they had it at E3 or whereever it was I thought they were just tech demos or something but its nice to know we'll be getting some classic love

It's really just the same Castlevania 1 but with 3D gimmick.

I'm not too excited for this, but, hey, Castlevania is always a good thing for me.

I don't know what to make of this, since I never tried the 3ds. :\

As long as they are cheap, I'll buy them.

I bet most ppl probably won't even use the 3D effect when playing cv. Most common complaint will be "it's too distracting" lol

i guess i hold out some hope for some new stuff, like boss rush mode, level select or alternate modes of play (like the sub-weapon-only mode that was in the cell phone versions).  i'd love to be able to start the game in hard mode without having to first beat the whole original game first every time i want to start a new game at that level.

Maybe they'll have lot's of CV1 extras included like they did with contra 4. Promotional gimmicks, sound test, commercials, extra costumes, unlock the original game, interviews, etc.

I think some of you guys are thinking too much of this. It'll be like this:

Urgh, for me, that stuff doesn't work. It's like those pictures or calenders you buy a museums where you see a bunch of mess on the picture and they tell you to let your eyes blur then slowly take a step back as you focus to see the hidden picture inside. I could never get it right.

It's not going to be a Remake, it's just a re-released probably with 3D effect, that's it.

I wouldn't like that actually. CV1 is perfect as it is. Unless its a remake in the way that SCV4 is a remake of CV1, then I don't think they should change it at all.

Keep the classic structure of the original but add branching paths so yo can unlock alternate stages(like RoB)! That would be awesome!!

Since when was IGA attached to THIS specific title?

Who did already say he has the development kit? Oh yes you know WHO

I know nothing about game development, but I don't think this is something that a company would need a 3DS dev kit for. I mean, the game is already made....they're just re-working 3D into it. It's very presumptuous to just go and trash IGA when we have no idea if he's even involved.

He hs A development kit, but it would be foolish to assume he was the only one at Konami who did.

And what if he's doing Contra 3DS? He's helped with ReBirth in some fashion..

I have the feeling that the 3DS Contra will come from another CV-ish source...

Nope. That would take time and money, both of which are only allowed to Hideo Kojima nowadays.

I don't know, and I sort of hope not. Especially if it's in tone similar to LoS. The Contra series is probably the last series out there in terms of needing a reboot. :P

I think Konami can pull off a successful CV 3DS transfer so long as they do it like what was done with Super Mario All-Stars.
