I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't played The After Years --a blasphemous oversight on my part. One thing not mentioned here, is that there will also be a short "interlude" game to bridge the gap between the original FF4 and TAY. Check out these new hi-res graphics!

well I shall be havin that! 4 and 6 are my fav FFs. They went down hill after 6 and I cant stand em anymore. Other than the cutscenes the game shots look exactly like the other version on psp. And that announcer chic sucked ass lol
-
Very interesting, still i haven't finish the GBA version of IV or the DS one. I think that i need to find my save and finish it, before i try this one version!!! :)

The graphics in The After Years are a weird mix between old FFIV and FFVI.
They kept some of the 'retro' looking things in IV that I believe they should not have (no shadows under the characters, the 'cheering' pose doesn't move the sprite upwards), but there are a lot of good things in TAY. The MoonPhase system makes things interesting, where you cannot just go gung-ho into an enemy's lair anymore otherwise you'll get your ass handed to you.

Jorge, did something happen here? The images I posted are --missing???

I went in to edit my second post and the images are there, but they are not being displayed properly. Let's try links instead.

Seems RPGamer doesn't like you hotlinking, dude.

Figures... Still, I should see an error on the page here, shouldn't I?
-
not really... not every site puts a big nasty "NO HOTLINKIN COR!!" image instead. Some just stop it entirely

I would get this probably only for after years, mainly due to the fact that I am too lazy to do micro transactions with every part on the wii version(was a stupid idea anyway on squenix's part). I like FF4 but i played it WAY too much already, i pretty much know that game like the back of my hand and I personally prefer 5 and 6. The sprites are nice and colorful though and some of the spell animation is cool, but I would play it mainly for after years since I would like to find out what happens after the first part.
-
have they combined em into one game? Like you have to beat FF4 and then it goes into TAF? Or is it gonna be like those gba ones where you pick which game when you start it and thats it

From what I've heard, the whole package is actually cheaper than dowloading the Wii version of After Years. It's still unclear if the original game will have any of the extra GBA or DS content --much less anything new... I'll probably play it for the love of the game, but it would be nice to have some sort of bonus or carry-over feature for the After Years.

These are your startup options.
-Final Fantasy IV (again no word on GBA - DS -or any other new bonus features)
-Interlude (this is all new content to bridge the gap--who knows how long it is?)
-The After Years (again no word on any new bonus content)
-
Is this only downloadable or can you buy the physical cartage from any game store? I've been wanting to try out the 'After years' since I first caught wind of it.

"The COMPLETE collection"...until Square Enix decide to release an even newer version. ;) One thing I hate about certain games. Like, why do there need to be fifty different versions of the first two Ys games?
-
I was fine with that because they were all fantastic.

Pardon sir. I creamed myself over the quality of the music on the japan site. Also, there is some extra content on the japan site as well.
