Title: His name is Simmon Beaumont, that is the name of yourself
Post by: beingthehero on May 12, 2011, 01:22:41 PM: Even though he's been in almost too many remakes, I still think we need Simon to be brought back. And I don't mean via pale imitators like Gabe. We need the original guy.

Should he be brought back for a remake, or an all-new title? I know many want a remake or retelling of Simon's Quest, but I think they could do a side-story where Simon goes off after another vampire or monster as well. Anybody agree?

apparently this is the cannon ending, but was never followed up on. I think we need a proper sequel to CV2 even though for the longest time, I had thought that SCV4 was the sequel. But we can't let IGA write the story. He'd mess it up somehow.

Actually, a 3D remake of CV2 has the potential to be a great game if executed correctly. I would probably be happy with it seeing how I never go to play the original.

I'm pretty sure it's mine.

Anyways, I always assumed the ending where Dracula's hand rises from the grave is the canonical ending. If I worked at Konami and I wanted to bring back Simon in another game, I know which one I would chose. : )

Yep. I'd say Simon's Quest is one of the few games that really needs remaking. Provided it's a Resident Evil Rebirth or BC: Rearmed style remake that adds something substantial to the game.

For example, separating hearts and money. Actual clues. Actual bosses. More mansion areas, perhaps to match the number of Dracula's relics in HoD.

In all seriousness, the LoS sequel would be pretty cool if it were non-linear in a Simon's Quest kind of way. A lot of the ideas and relics in LoS would've suited that kind of game much better, I think.

There's just no way that Gabe could best Simon. Gabe spends over half his time bashing weak enemies in one portion of a stage where-as Simon could clean house with Castlevania in less then an hour. THAT's epic!

Yeah, those barbarian butt cheeks from the cover of CV1 would indeed do some damage to that foot.

But having the dash ability permanently would wtihin one's ass would be more like Gabriel's Curse to Simon. I mean, what's Simon gonna do, go dashing across Transylvania on his ass, feet up in the air, holding onto his knees, shifting his cheeks rapidly back and forth. That's just GOTTA chafe something aweful.

There should be a larger room and you can get a lot of furniture. Then you can choose to have Juste decorate it for you (pre-set) or place the furniture yourself, wherever you want to. Of course, Juste's tastes are sublime, so the pre-set function would be superior. The furniture should exceed 100 original items or so, so that there is no shortage of variety in decoration. Oh also, you can interact with the furniture and invite friends to your room.

I'm not sure how the rest of the game should be like. Maybe a quest to get as many furniture as you can, because the whole "hunt Dracula" thing would be redundant at this point.

The bandanna and the rocking cock hair was cool, but the SQ armor is the coolest thing he ever wore. If I designed him, I'd combine his look from CV and CV2.

Sure and why not make it 3D with LoS graphics. Combat would be similar to LoI in that all you would have is a whip as the main weapon with two types of attacks (weak and controlled, powerful and wild) and of course the classic subweapons. No complex combos and plenty of swinging like the original. And, of course, it would be stage by stage like LoS. No arena combat like LoS.

This should be the epitome of 3D classicvania and also will likely be very well received by CV fans.

That’s about the only real similarities that I’m seeing

Just because it's not a carbon copy, doesn't mean it's not extremely similar. Next you'll be telling me that Samus in MP looks almost nothing like Samus from the original Metroid, because the original had a flat yellow tone, but MP Samus's outfit is more metallic and sectioned like traditional armor.

I was just asking for a graphical remake, it doesn't need to be anything super extensive like that.

or hell, the people in-between Leon and Trevor. They didn't hunt Dracula, but that doesnt mean they didnt track him and kill other things along the way. Such as other possible final boss characters.

see, there a problem with Gabe right now. He's a vampire. Meaning he is quite vulnerable to Vampire killer. And I dont mean the Combat Cross, I mean Vampire killer, the one used by the OTHER Belmonts. From the OTHER timeline.

meaning they could kill him in an instant. Vampire powers? no biggie... They've faced Dracula billions of times. They eat vampire powers for breakfast.

Big whoop. That goes for pretty much every enemy in the CV universe, including any of the Belmonts. So then it just comes down to who uses it first I suppose, or who has healing abilites (Gabe)

Anyway, while I think Gabriel would win out on Simon due to him having a lot of combos and stuff, he forgets all of that stuff except teleport-fireballs when he becomes Dracula anyway, so it kind of evens out.
