Has anybody else besides me noticed that they just vanished today? Does anyone know what happened?
-
I've never heard of the CV crypt forums till now. Does every CV site have a chatroom?
-X
-
Never heard of it myself to be honest.
-
I was just PM'd by someone asking about this very topic, so I'm glad someone's made a topic.
Anyone from that forum is welcome to post here and chime in, so that friends can find one another.
-
I had just sent a PM to Jorge asking if I could post here, I am really hoping that people I met there will come here or post here!
I was talking with lostpainting in im when the forum disappeared :( The owner decided to close it down with little notice, they just posted yesterday about closing it and today its gone. Very down about it, because I miss the people I used to chat with there. sigh
I am hoping Leon, Successor Of Fate, BoneArcher, Guy Starwind, lostpainting, Loretta Zero and Lisa may show up. There were others there, kind of a shame...
-
Thanks Jorge.
Really glad to see you mistressalucard (I'm lostpainting btw). Damn I can't believe that forum is gone just like that, I didn't even have time to exchange contacts with those people. I tried sending the Crypt owner an email and it bounced.
-
I am so glad you are here too lost, this really sucks.. I didn't have a chance to get anyone's contact info either. I wish there had at least been some time so we all could have exchanged emails or contact info.
I sent the owner an email today and he did reply but it was pretty short. He may have shut the email address off after that.
-
I look forward to posting with more Crypt members & Anti-Chapel members :-*
We are all one, now.
-
Hi Crisis thanks Hopefully the others will make their way over here too :)
-
The guy that runs Castlevania Crypt.com said he didn't have time for the forum anymore and wanted to close it before it died down to nothing. You guys must have typed in the wrong email address because I just got a reply when I asked what happened.
Someone suggested this on that forum before it closed, so I will suggest it here. Why doesn't Castlevania Dungeon and Castlevania Crypt combine? Castlevania Dungeon's site doesn't even update anymore and from what I read you guys would need to redo the entire site, but Castlevania Crypt updates 3 or 4 times a week. Castlevania Crypt has the best Castlevania site, and Castlevania Dungeon has the best and only forum. Why doesn't this forum link to that site, and that site link to this forum?
I don't know who is in charge here but maybe pass this suggestion along.
Oh and Castlevania Crypt has fun stuff on there that you guys dont have like this:
http://www.castlevaniacrypt.com/games/sotn/soundboards.htm (http://www.castlevaniacrypt.com/games/sotn/soundboards.htm)
and this: http://www.castlevaniacrypt.com/games/cv/scene.htm (http://www.castlevaniacrypt.com/games/cv/scene.htm)

Joining forces might not be a bad idea.
-
No offense, but there is not much to join with. A couple of members would come over here, and that's it. I'm not sure if that is what is being suggested here, but it gives the same result.
-
Yea members really should just join here if they want to continue having CV discussions with fellow CV fans.
A "Forum Merger" really is not necessary in my honest opinion.
-
Huh, interesting. Didn't even know that place existed.
-
Thanks mistressalucard for remembering me :D!!!
I was bummed that forum closed because I really enjoyed it. However, I guess not much I can do about. So, I'm sure I'll continue to poke mt head in here and more often then normal.

No offense, but did you read my post? I didn't suggest a forum merger I suggested an overall site merger. Castlevania Crypt is a website and Castlevania Dungeon is just a forum. I suggested that you become Castlevania Crypt's forum and they become your site. Both sites could obviously help each other.
There is nothing like looking at the Dungeon's home page and seeing "Lords of Shadow just announced at the E3" and then Castlevania Crypt is talking about LOS Resurrection DLC on its way. I usually post on gamefaqs.com and gamespot.com forums to discuss Castlevania and we always use the Crypt for reference info.
Anyway I was just suggesting it since some people were complaining, it doesn't matter to me what happens since I don't post much here.

Oh my god.

No need to get a stick up your hiney, sir.
-
I was posting on that forum pretty regularly until it just up and vanished. Alucard, from the forum just put up a post conerning the whole situation.

A valid idea based purely on logically covering each other's weaknesses. However, I personally wouldn't want the Castlevania Dungeon to be renamed or dissolved. It's just been such a long standing icon for the series' presence on the internet, and especially has been a special place in my heart having been here for a decade.
-
Forum mergers are usually pretty stupid. What's really the point? I don't see what the Castlevania Dungeon really has to gain from doing something like that. The members from the other forum can either post here or not. What else really needs to be done? With all due respect, I, personally, wouldn't share my power with some people from another board, especially one much smaller. I mean... why?
-
personally, wouldn't share my power
We know.
-
I'd share my power with you.
Was the Crypt Redrum's place?
-
Hahaha! You never cease to amaze me, Hero.
Uzo, you need to get over whatever it was that happened.
-
It's uzo. His heart will not change.

Was the Crypt Redrum's place?
Just no, and no, the Crypt is an entirely different beast, and one I've never heard of.
-
Was the Crypt Redrum's place?
You're thinking of Castlevania Corner, which still exists but seems abandoned. No new posts in like a month or so.
-
Castlevania Corner always seemed like the dark corner (no pun intented) of the Castlevania internet community to me. Right up there with ICVD. :-X
-
Forum merge is what killed Clockwork Mansion.
-
Merging a Castlevania forum with a forum about a furry webcomic is indeed not the greatest idea in the world.
-
Ok, once again, no one is suggesting a forum merge, only that the CvCrypt become the website aspect, and the CvDungeon be it's forum. Very simple.
So, the forum would still be called the Castlevania Dungeon Forums, but it would be linked to from the Castlevania Crypt. The reason this might be a good idea is because the website aspect of the CvC gets updated quite often, while the CvD website hasn't been updated in almost a year.
Everybody wins.

What?

What?

Ok.

Hey now, that's no way to treat a lady.

I think this largely has to do with those places not really being about Castlevania. Rather, from what I can tell from having seen them, they're places where about twelve or so friends who have not much interest in Castlevania go to talk about..... random stuff, and have periodical drama that often gets too personal. I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing. I guess it's interesting that they are there.

Holy Crap you know it's weird when Olroxshade posts!
**gives Olroxshade the Lurker award**
I think everyone here needs to calm down.
I will answer for these:
1. The Castlevania Dungeon Forums is a good forum (in my opinion) and we welcome people from any other places, so long as they obey and follow the rules.
2. The Castlevania Dungeon (the site) is quite stagnant, but it will not be, for much longer. Within this month, I will be finishing up some works and then people (that's you guys from the forum) can submit entries which will get uploaded as articles. However, I have to get the system in place in order to do this properly. I have Kurt's blessing to do so.
3. I don't think a forum/site combination/merge, or however it seems to be proposed, will be happening, but we appreciate the suggestion.
Lastly...
WTF Vampire Killer?

I can't wait for Ahversus' LOS review.

I figured she was being sarcastic, as I could not have explained it any plainer. So I was sarcastic back. When she posted "what?", I actually lol'ed because I figured she was joking.

Do you base your entire opinion about a web site soley on its forum? I sure hope not. There are many great sites out there that don't even have forums. Someone else in this thread was saying how they were happy that we are all one now. With all these other Castlevania sites or forums closing down, this means that the Castlevania series itself is going downhill, and as a Castlevania fan this concerns me.

And when the CVDF finally closes it's doors, we'll all have to migrate to the gamefaqs forum
*shudders*

I really don't see how a forum merger is going to revive a video game series.

No one suggested a forum merger. I was saying how its bad for Castlevania that there are not many people wanting to talk about it online as there were 5 years ago. This is not good for the series.
-
Nobody from here would gain anything from it regardless.

I can agree with you about that. I think the state of the fanbase is indicative of the state of the series. No one feels like really seriously running their Castlevania sites because they don't give a damn about what's being done with the series. No young bucks are raising up to fill the void - likely because no one cares, or at least not enough. What Konami is doing is not captivating, motivating or inspiring. It's upsetting, true, but that problem needs to be fixed at the source, which is Konami. Once they start making some really freaking good games, that most people can agree are really freaking good, I'm positive the fanbase will be much more lively, active, larger and morale will be way higher. There's really nothing we, as fans, can do about the situation.
-
Jesus spin kicking christ peoples, I ask a simple question and it turns into a massive debate about whether the 2 sites/forums/whatever should merge? :o
I really have to learn to stop opening my mouth other than to put up updates to the hack. lol ;D

I wasn't involved in this topic before...but this post caught my eye, and I can say to this is...right on! What Konami is focused upon right now is attracting players and not necessarily devotees.
For instance, compare and contrast Bloodlines and Portrait of Ruin, both wartime Morris-centric games and very closely related to each other in story. Yes, Bloodlines was short and PoR is larger with a lot of extra stuff to find. But play one and then the other, and the difference is apparent. PoR uses the same environments over and over (e.g.: the 4 portraits before Brauner's studio, carbon copies of previous stages) whereas Bloodlines, though only having 6 stages, has great attention to detail, and each stage is unique and actually feels like its own location, like it was intended to, rather than repeating the same stuff over again. There is such a strong sense of atmosphere that it sucks you right in. Gameplay feels satisfying, as if you're actually accomplishing a great triumph. As John, the Vampire Killer is your strongest asset, truest to series lore, whereas for Jonathan, there are items with much higher attack power (though it may go with the Morris life-sucking theory or John's death...who knows?)
But those games are 12 years apart, and the series has most definitely gone downhill. Gone is the attention to detail and crafting a visceral experience, now there is not as much immersion and "connectedness" to the game that got people hooked on the first Castlevania in '86. That's what Konami needs to do now, ramp up the gameplay and create a truly unique experience that links player and game, so that new and old fans can feel that their fanbase is still alive, connected, and well.
Phew! That was a mouthful...

I too used to be part of those forums. I'd not visited the site for some time, and decided to go back tonight only to find that the forums were gone, and that the site wasn't updated as much as it used to. It's good to see everyone again.
-
Thread Necromancy is on the rise lately..
-
At least it's related and somewhat relevant, this time.
Not "What's your favorite..." threads being resurrected.

That site is updated 2 to 3 times a week, and I think it has always been that way. The dates are right there on the main page....10/30, 11/2, 11/6, 11/10, etc. What more do you want? It's Castlevania and there is not much news going on in the series lately anyway.
