This I find weird. Apparently this game has been rated better than Ocarina of Time...seriously, I was expecting Galaxy to be good...but not THIS good...
ARGHHH, DAMN TYPO!!!

No matter how much I see footage from the game I still don't get what the big deal is. I loved both Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, but this one just doesn't look like it appeals to me.
Maybe it's one of those games you have to experience to appreciate. I'll probably play it someday, but I have a lot of such great games to have fun with first. Assasin's Creed, Painkiller Overdose, F.E.A.R. Files, etc, etc.

Yes, play it first. That always seems to help with this sort of thing eh?
Also, finally. Something rated higher than Halo 3. Maybe God does exist!

I gotta agree with you in this one.

Mario has a big fanbase, but Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is far better. You can't even compare them.

Halo 3
Surprise!

What's there to get? It's Mario. The big deal is the game design, especially in regard to levels.
Top 3 ranking games are now Nintendo titles of their past three console generations. I definitely agree with #2 and #3, yet to play Galaxy though.

Mario pwns all (cept castlevania of course), galaxy looks great. I look forward to getting it as long as I don't have to collect a bunch of crap to progress through the game, this one looks like it might be the first 3d mario to have that oldschool feel and addictiveness.

Halo 3 is overrated it's fun but 2 is way better.

I'd have to disagree there though to each his own I guess.
This is rather shocking but I'll finally start playing this (until I get Mass effect) as I just beat Assassins Creed tonight.

I liked the storymode better in 2 cuz you play 2 different characters in campaign in 3 you only get to play the chief far as I know unless you play multiplayer campaign. The new weapons were cool and all but Halo 2 just had me hooked longer, I don't know maybe I'm just getting tired of the Halo formula.

Playing as two enemies to one another was an interesting way to tackle the story and it added a cool character with a lot of depth. It is a downer that they eventually teamed up because it was the end of Arbiter's story, but it was set to unravel to that point from the start. From a game play standpoint Halo 3 felt superior imo. Little if any level repetition, introduction of equipment, memorable battles that were well executed. That being said I put a lot more time into Halo 2 than I did Halo 3. I think I too am a bit tired of the formula. Although I did play 3's campaign a lot more. So yeah, I think the game play is better but it still is relatively unchanged and therefore feels cheapened. Had this come out in Halo 2's (by this I mean had this been the type of gameplay in Halo 2, not Halo 3 in 04) stead for years ago (without the nice coat of paint obviously) it would've been way more remarkable.

Oh my god I'm stopping this now.
This isn't a Halo topic. Stop talking about Halo right now and keep on the Nintendo track, people.

Super Mario Galaxy is...not that great. I hate to say it, but it's true. It's almost boring, mostly due to the total absence of anything resembling challenge. The unimaginative level goals don't help. There is one stage that is basically a floating loop made of water. For the first star, you follow a shark and swim through 8 rings he creates. I don't even think there is a time limit here, and I didn't see any enemies trying to impede my progress. For the next star, you race penguins around the exact same loop, but this time you don't even have to aim for rings or anything. The second star is less involved and even less interesting. Then there is a star in which you race a 'Cosmic Mario' around about 1/3 of the same damn track. Seriously. There are these comets that move around at random, and if you enter a galaxy when one is in orbit, you get a special comet mission like the aforementioned Cosmic Mario races. Or, you'll have a timer challenge, where you need to complete one of the regular level goals under a certain time limit. So, you get to do the same exact thing again for another star. People complained about Super Mario Sunshine's blue coins, but I haven't seen anyone complaining about this yet. They just slap a timer on a previous goal and expect you to accept it as additional content. Sad. And it looks like about half of the stars are gained from these comets. It's an alright game, but it's not the miracle people are making it out to be.

I'm having a lot of fun with game so far. The only thing I'm disappointed in is that you can't really move the camera as freely as you want like in Super Mario 64 and Sunshine. Also, you can't have the Fire Mario or Ice Mario for a long time even though Fire Mario you can keep that ability as long as you liked in the old games. I'm also liking the unlockable modes after you've beaten the game with 120 stars.

Better change the title. Zelda is back on top. Go check.

Gaaaah! How could a Mario game get a good rating?? I hate those games more than I hate Sonic!!

Do you mean out the 3d mario's? cuz I'm tempted to agree there the 3d's one's I've played (haven't play galaxy yet but it looks great) have been repetitive and boring for the most part. But the 2d ones beat any zelda out of the water no contest. Especially the Japanese mario 2 for the nes that one is hellishly hard and fun, some castles even have 2 King Koopa's. :o

You don't like Mario? Have you played the pre-96 console ones cuz I've found lots of people who don't like the 3d ones but like those. :)

You mean the NES ones? Oh yeah, I love those, I own the complete trilogy, but the rest of the series adds too much technology and modern day stuff to a world with monsters and princesses. And Italian plumber brothers. :)

Yeah nintendo did kind of go nuts in the mid 90's early 2000's with introducing all these new elements and features in the console marios. Mario World is awesome too if you haven't played it. It's for the Snes and it's like the oldschool nes ones. :)

Cool. If I had a snes I 'd check it out, but sadly, I don't. :'( And you could guess I'd also have SCV4 and DXX. ;D

Super Mario Galaxy is fantastic.
I don't see why people would hate it... it's a very varied and classy platformer with great (if somewhat easy) bossbattles and amazing level design. I'm sorry, but I'm obviously not listening to opinions from people who haven't even played the game, lol.

I've got about 105 stars now, and I can say that the later stars are much more enjoyable. Some of the early stuff is so boring, I wish they would have just cut it out, though, honestly. Like the entire Beach Bowl galaxy.
