Title: Dead Island
Post by: darkjak951 on May 23, 2011, 10:12:29 AM
To Kill Time Gameplay Walkthrough HD - Dead Island (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/to-kill-dead-island/714103)
They just put up a full 11 minutes of gameplay. It is looking REALLY cool, like a combination of Dead Rising(sandbox, zombie theme, weapon modding) and Borderlands(mainly with the rpg and fps elements). It is going to try to allow the player to feel like they are really trying to survive a zombie apocalypse on a little island where primarily you will have to use melee combat(guns are apparently VERY scarce) and every now and then you will have to repair a weapon to prevent it from breaking mid fight. Not only is this cool, but the game is going to be a sandbox rpg as well so you can level up and do some side quests for the survivors. I am a huge zombie game fan so I hope this game can be as good if not better than big name zombie games like Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising.

Looks very promising.  I've gotten sick of L4D lately, so I'll definitely be following this one.

Seems sorta like dead rising with a FP view all the time and set in... Hawaii?

Its on a fictional island. and its more Borderlands than Dead Rising in a way. You level up and gain some new character-specific abilities.
Edit: Yeah DR did that too but this is MUCH more RPG with damage values and such.

The constant Limit bars on Simple Jumping and stuff are kinda turning me off about the game, but I'll still give it a shot since it's like a Fallout/Resident Evil Classic Hybrid

I don't see a lick of Fallout in this game, since that game at least to me didn't feel like a natural shooter. This game is probably gunna be more along the lines of Borderlands, especially with it's emphasis on classes and co-op.

All of the RPG questing strong Resembles Fallout 3, Hell even Borderlands is a Sped up version of Fallout without the extensive exploration.

comparisons are okay but Fallout does not fully define what Dead Island brings to the table as a whole.

And as a whole, it's a pretty new reinvention of zombie survival horror and open world questing that stands out from the rest.

what? it's actually rare and more original for a videogame survival horror zombie co-op game.

Far better than just another western town/forest, or post-apocalyptic wasteland, which are some of the most reused location concepts to the point of being extremely generic.

And it sure beats taking place in Antartica.  Sure The Thing was pretty scary, but snow based locations are almost as common as deserts, streets and rocky terrain.

A tropical island near the asian contries is really unexplored terroritory for modern zombie games and survival horror or FPS games category in general.

I will correct myself.

I dont like the Location when sun is shining. There is no horror feeling upcoming too me. Not at all. At Night, its pretty nice.

It reminds me of that one scene in Heavy Metal movie with the WWII bomber overrun with Zombies only for the co-pilot to bail out and land on a tropical island filled with...more Zombies.

Resident Fallout 4 Dead - Pretty much most of the elements combined, I will enjoy this game.
BTW don't bother with the 360, you pay for online which has been just as laggy since 2006, your money goes nowhere into improving anything.
