So I was listening to some of PoR's music this evening. Man, Invitation is kind of a strange song when I think about it. There really hasn't been quite a 'first stage' theme like this one in the series. It's kind of upbeat without being obnoxious, and it's not gothic in the least. And at the same time, it's a legitimately great song. It sounds almost like it would be from a game for the Sega Genesis. It's why I think Koshiro ought to come back and compose an entire soundtrack to the series. This song and Gears Go Awry certainly demonstrate that.
Love it/hate it?

It's ok.

Crisis baby, I need you to spill your guts. After discussing this at quite a length with you, I know you have many stern emotions directed at Invitation.
-
Probably the only memorable song of PoR. If we don't count the old remixes of course.

This tune was definitely a good start for the game. I liked it :)

PoR has the best ost of the 3 ds games imo. Notable mentions are: Dance Of Sadness, Forest Of Doom, The Gears Go Awry, Victorian Fear, Invitation of a Crazed Moon, Bloodlines (whip's memory boss music) and anything from Bloodlines

I really don't care much for the PoR soundtrack, at least not compared to that of most other Castlevanias. But I think the Nest of Evil theme is fantastic. It sounds awesomely oldschool, and it's got a super catchy melody. In my mind, it's one of the most memorable of all the DS CVs' OSTs.

A great addition to the Castlevania music pantheon! I love this song. PoR has a lot of catchy songs, though I don't know all of their names and locations off hand at this hour. Anyway, I'd like to see "Invitation" return. It's one of those modern classics, IMO, like Curse of Darkness' awesome "Abandoned Castle" theme.

I loved it.
But I liked Gaze Up At The Darkness a lot better, because of its more gothic atmosphere.
And the Harmony of Despair remix of this track is just absolutely beautiful. I think I might like it better than the original.

Very good first stage tune, maybe not enough gothic, but still cool. The HoD arrangement is great.

For me PoR is having a great soundtrack, invitation is not that bad, but there are many other better songs, inside the game. Hidden curse, is one of my most favorite!!!
-
With Invitation, you can tell that it's the first stage - mellow guitar intro rising into an upbeat main melody. It's a good song and a great one to put at the beginning. My favorite, though, is Dance of Sadness.

Not to be THAT person, but.... I hate this song. It's rubbish IMO. I did like most of the music (PoR has the strongest soundtrack of all the DS Castlevanias, if you ask me) but much like the Forgotten Village and An Empty Tome, I found Invitation to be the weakest of the bunch. Give me Dance of Sadness, Jail of Jewels, Victorian Fear, Gears go Awry or Gaze up at the Darkness anyday. Invitation suffers greatly from the actual arrangement IMO. It's disgustingly FUNKY without being very catchy. It is, by far, my least favourite "main protagonist theme" of the entire series.
There, I said it.

I like Gears Go Awry, The Hidden Curse (man I sometimes have that on loop), and Jail of Jewels.... but I love Invitation of a Crazed Moon. It's strangely modern-feeling to me.

Invitation of a Crazed Moon is one of my personal favorites. To me it harkens back to the days of classic Castlevania.

When I think of Japan music I cant help but think of it

It's ok. I could never really get into it for some reason. I like some other tracks better (Hail From the Past, Hidden Curse, etc.) and The Gears Go Awry certainly tops this.
-
It is one of my least favorites on the PoR soundtrack. It sounds like it belongs to a Saturday morning cartoon. And the intro is ridiculously mellow for an introductory track. And it never really climaxes or goes anywhere, but gets lost in a cartoonish mid-tempo. It's quite terrible IMHO. Fortunately, it's saved by the amazing Victorian Fear that is the first stage track.

Agreed. PoR had some amazing music and I really wish they'd get Yuzo Koshiro on board for another Castlevania.
