I really hope it's true, apparently it all started with someone commenting about a poll asking for posssible names for a new LoK game. However I found clues that it might have started several months ago with gossip on youtube and Eidos' forums saying that Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics were talking about it. It's still just a rumour though.
It is said that it may be a reboot considering that SE already did that with other Eidos games.
Everyone is saying it will be announced on the upcoming E3 if it is true but I think it's too soon.

I think I need to find out where the publishers live now... and get ready to punch them in the face. Somehow I think they will screw up one of my favorite series of all time.

Well it's been about 7 years since the last LoK was released so I'm staying positive, this could mean the series will come back after so long.
If it is a reboot like everyone is saying I just hope they don't screw it up, specially if they are rebooting Blood Omen which in my opinion is the best of the five games, but if I have to guess I think they'll reboot Soul Reaver just to squeeze any juice left on Raziel's spectral butt :P

According to OXM they asked the developers a few times about the series and they answered... but they haven't written the response yet, an article is promised soon though.
I have the feeling they are releasing Tomb Raider first and then make the new LoK game.
Just think about it, the new Tomb Raider game looks absolutely phenomenal, so imagine how incredible will the new LoK game look with the developers mastering the engine. And of course, they are trying to innovate and push storytelling bnoundaries with TR and I hope they learn lots of things for LoK considering that the main writer is not working for them anymore.
I'm always guessing... I remember how stunning the SR intro looked back in the 2000... how will it look with today's technology?

Cool this is starting to sound more promising. I hope they give the answer we want, though I wonder if they'll respect the narrative style of the series. The one game Amy Hennig wasn't involved with didn't turned out that well in that aspect. The only reason Blood Omen 2 is a good game is due to Kain's awesomeness because there's really nothing "bloodomenish" about it. It's more like SR in Kain version. It still good though but... the title promised a Blood Omen like game.
It would be great if SK could get their hands on it again since they wrote the original story and stablished the series' style. It's a pity they probably can't since CD legally "robbed them" of their game lol but if it were to be a reboot of Blood Omen I think it should be by Silicon Knights. Even if it is impossible I wish it weren't :P
Also the story of the series is very intricated and sometimes difficult to understand so let's just hope they don't stupidize it to reach "the masses", that would be a mayor screw up.

If it looks a shiny as the new tomb raider I'm down but it better not be a reboot, getting real tired of those.

Oh God no, have you seen what are they making recently? Too Human and the craptastic X-men game they are making are signs of the fact that BO was kinda a Lucky Strike for that studio :P

what about older games? Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Dark Legions?
Maybe they are just having a bad period.
Still, I think if they would make a remake or reboot of Blood Omen it would an awesome game.

But if they're making a new game for Kain, they should remove that silly "you fall into water, you die" crap. That annoyed the hell out of me in Defiance. I mean, shouldn't like, an all-powerful vampire lord be a little less hydrophobic? I'd figure it would make sense if being in water slowly drains your health, but instant death? WHY?
Also, I hope the game would have lots of "Vae Victis!"

Pretty much, no one who worked on the games are in the group any more. They all moved on, the last one to leave was Amy Hennig and she's in Naughty Dog doing uncharted.

True, in Blood Omen Kain actually acquired resistance to rain, snow and avoid further water damage by using the mist. They didn't respect that at all in later games, Kain doesn't even have his bat and wolf forms anymore and in Defiance he barely uses mist. In the canceled game Kain was supposed to make a full comeback with all his original forms and a couple of new ones. Why did they canceled that one?! it's so unfair :P
I heard Crystal Dynamics didn't have any involvement with this project so that may have been one of the reasons Kain was more "like himself" again and probably also why it was cancelled.
Also, I hope the game would have lots of "Vae Victis!"
