The new forum software (Simple Machines Forums) has come out with a 2.0 version.
We're currently running 1.1.14 (as you can see at the very bottom of the page).
I'm letting you guys know, should something happen, that I will be upgrading the forum to SMF 2.0 within the next few days or so.
If you experience some kind of forum.... 'hiccup', don't panic! You may be online during the upgrade.
If anything wrong happens, I have a forum backup already downloaded, just in case.

I was wondering about those icons beside the forum selections were for. Good to know.

Oh those have nothing to do with the upgrade, actually.
Those are for people who use news feeders and the like. You click on that icon and things like Google Reader and Windows Live! will let you know when people reply to posts you've read, and when new posts happen.

We have upgraded!
However, our old theme has to be modified to work with the latest version of SMF so we're stuck on the Default for now. Please bear with me as I perform theme upgrades! :D

Much better...My eyes thank you.
but now the lauyout is completely screwed up. the top userbar is on the bottom, the info box up top, and there are no post buttons aside from the quote button 9which is a link and not a button)

It'll look the same as it did in the morning.
All I'm doing is copy/pasta what was in the other stylesheet.
It's tedious work. It's because the new SMF has some new stuff in its layout.
It'll be back in a while.

How do I hide my e-mail? I'd rather not receive more penis enlargement pill ads.
Is there an alternative to this hideous background? If not, is it on the way? Something dark plz. It's easier on the eyes.

I'm aware of the problems with the darkness. I ask you to please bear with me while I set up a dark theme.
I've been downloading dark themes but they all have flaws and I'd rather have a theme with proper links and navigation even the colors are bright.

Could you please enable again the default theme and alter a secondary one instead of forcing us to use the one that gets updated and which makes browsing the board barely impossible?

I don't want to hear complaints or messages about how much you hate the colors, etc.
I told you I would be updating the forums, so this is to be expected. Unfortunately 1.1.14 themes don't seem to be compatible with 2.0 themes, so I'm working as diligently as I can (given the time I've got to work on this), which sucks because many 'claim' they are compatible when in actuality they're not.
So you will have to deal with bright-ass blue colors for a while. DEAL, I SAY!

No problem for me! I always swap to the default theme on every board that allows that anyway. :p

Hey, this forum looks different now. It kinda...hmm. It's like I've seen it before, but I'm not sure where...might be almost everywhere. Is this skin a common default for forums? I coulda sworn I've seen it at a few other places I've been...:o

Sad to hear that we will be stuck with the "bland" theme for a while longer.
It really does not have the "CV" feel to it.
But It is to be expected considering the problems you are currently having with the themes so I will just have to suck it up and deal with it. ;D

I can actually see things better now, default skin plz. Reminds me a bit of Atari Age forums, one of it's skins.

Yeah. Forum upgrades and especially forum theme and skin compatibilities can be a pain to fix.
I know this all too well as I have been through the same process. Just give TGMagus time and it will be rectified. Taking his time in choosing the right forum theme/skin will make the overall process much smoother in the long run. Upgrades are worth it for added features and security.

I honestly like this... just wish it was dark though, easier to stare at. But this is easy to read... not that devastating purple, ewwwww.

I am okay with this so far (used to frequent a forum with the same color scheme, this feels homely haha), I wasn't prepared for the different colors though.

I was curious if all the white was just temporary. Guess this answers my questions. I also noticed the LoS book is also used in the new look. Personally I'd have used CV64/LoD's Necronomicon. It's far more sinister, taboo and maddening.

Here are some things that we got with the new software update, and what we lost:
We got:
Multiple language Interface! Now you can use the forum in Chinese, English, Japanese, Hebrew, Finnish, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, and Swedish.
There's supposedly more security now and there are some more admin options that I can use to keep the riffraff out.
As you can see, the interface is different (though I had to stay up late to code up a new theme since 1.1.14 themes don't seem to be compatible with 2.0)
The ability to use newer plugins and mods, which I will be experimenting with. Things like games and the like, are probably gonna be possible now.
We lost:
-Member Awards (at least for now, until the Mod I was using comes up with a 2.0 version)
-AJAX Quick Reply (so now the page won't auto-refresh when you use quick reply; no big deal)
-Some AntiSpam Mods (will have to see what I can do about that)
-the eNotify Notifications (which most of us disliked and I'm glad it got uninstalled).
-the Spoiler Tag. I'm looking into finding a replacement mod that'll implement this again.

Excellent work, Mein Führer.
But the new site doesn't seem to be 100% mobile friendly (atleast on my phone/ipod touch). Loads up kinda slower than usual.. fyi

I just use the browser "safari" on my itouch & standard browser on my sprint sometimes
also when zooming in it takes a few more seconds to focus.. not a big deal but noticeable

That may be that SMF 2.0 isn't as optimized as old 1.1.14, I guess.
There is nothing, as far as I know, that's physically slowing things down (Flash, Javascript, etc.) that's persistently on a page.

Finally found where to look to enable "Who's watching the board/topic" so we have that feature again.
