What do you think happens to the corpse of a Belmont? Is there a special cemetary dedicated to their tombstones, or are they just buried wherever they die, or do you think they cremate them Jedi-style?
I dunno if The Belmont Legacy comic book is canon or not but if I recall correctly I think there was a scene depicting Belmont gravestones in a shrine. I think it'd be pretty cool if this was touched upon in the games.

I think they're entombed in a mausoleum of sorts. They probably have one that's dedicated to the entire Belmont clan. Not only would this burial tomb house their bodies, but also the legends of the family history as well as the knowledge for which to use the vampirekiller, the mystic subweapons and the different methods of hunting the undead.

TBH, I would imagine them cremated. Wouldnt want Dracula raiding the graveyard and turning their remains into Zombies and skeleton warriors now would we?
Imagine walking through ye old intro stage (or graveyard stage) when suddenly- Grampa Trevor..? Is that you..? *is a skeleton with a brown bandanna*

the Simon Wraith from Harmony of Dissonance was called a Hellmont in Harmony of Despair and it states "Some say this is what happened to Simon Belmont in the end."
Some monsters would like you to believe that when a Belmont or other heroes dies, their bones are brought to the castle, flesh forms around them, and they can be controlled like any other zombie by the castle's influence. Of course, those zombies are called "Fake" in the game (even the Japanese versions apparently), but I've still wondered if they were really fake from time to time.
Dracula did indeed desecrate the corpses of Christopher Belmont's parents in Belmont's Legacy. Poor souls.

There was also the resurrected corpses of Grant, Trevor and Sypha in SotN.

Those Simon Wraiths were in CVIII too, so they're probably just random whip-wielding skeleton parodies in the end rather than actual Belmonts.

Yeah, they were Fakes.
I think Belmonts may have their mausoleum somewhere with some hidden relics (like for the Brotherhood in LoS). But maybe certain members of the clan decided to be cremated or burried elsewhere.

I always thought that a Belmont family crypt/mausoleum would be on a secluded plot of their family's ancient property, with a large building to house the remains, that would be not only on consecrated land, but would have all manner of relics and wards to prevent any dark forces from trying to break in and meddle with the corpses.
I know in some mythos, vampires can't walk on consecrated land. Should have solved the issue to Drac busting in to steal a body or two.

This is one of the best topics I've seen in a long time. Desecrating the Clan's resting place would be an excellent way to start off the Demon Castle War. Suppose Julius were forced to destroy his Belmont ancestors --now that's psychological warfare right there. I never understood why Sotn made the Castlevania 3 trio "Fakes" far more dramatic story-telling to make them the real thing.

Having the Belmont mausoleum appear in one of the games would be epic! Hell when I get around to remaking CV2 like I am CV1 I might just have to include it. Especially with it being mentioned in the original Japanese manual.

I think it would be a fitting place for a Belmont to reclaim the VK after Jonathan (or the guy after him) retires.

Well if you remember castlevania 2 showed the grave of simon belmont however it was vague and I never did quite grasp what the developers meant. I think that simon died no matter which ending you got because of his curse. I think that the conditions of his death changed depending on which ending you got but that he still died no matter what you did. At any rate I haven't played the game in ages now and my memory is a bit foggy so don't take any of that as solid fact or anything. My point being that we did see the death of a belmont and the location of the tombstone outside and not in a mausoleum. I hope that helps the discussion a bit :)

The only grave I ever saw in CV2 was Dracula's grave. There are three endings total. If you use a passward to finish the game you get a grey-scaled ending. If you took too much time you get the bad ending with the blue sky, green grass and blue water and Simon kneeling in front of Dracula's grave. If you get the good ending you get the orange/red sky with the orange/red water and orange grass. Simon is still kneeling in front of Dracula's grave. Then after the story wraps up, the scene changes to night and as Dracula's grave shakes, his hand pops out from the mound of dirt. I think Simon only died in two of the three endings. The final ending I mentioned is probably the one where he survives the curse but then has to deal with Dracula once again. Sadly this was never followed up on, however SCV4's intro was an eery reminder of that ending sequence and would've made a hell of a sequel to CV2 if it had gone that route.

I always wondered where the Belmonts were buried too, they have to have some kind of special memorial site for them.
