Is there any good horror game out there, that is really "spooky"?
Resident evil was only the 1st game like that, and that just a few mins in that whole game...
Silent hill is great but, no new game out there right now. :/
Clock Tower already played
Dracula I & II on Psx already played
Necromonicon already played.
F.E.A.R already played
well. Hope i didnt forget one for now
To come to an end, is there any other horror game out there that is any good?
-
I'd recommend Fatal Frame and Forbidden Siren.
-
ok, Fatal Frame is called Project Zero here. That is really an awsome game. Only played 1 and 2. 3 and 4 also good?
Forbidden Siren. It looks like Silent Hill doesnt it? Just seen one gamplay video right now, where he did fight a Nurse, but that looks very cool and what im searching for. (:
Thank you very much
-
Fatal Frame 3 is my favourite in the series, so yes - it's rather good IMO.
Did you try Haunting Ground? It's basically Clock Tower 4. I liked it a lot.
Personally I'm interested in the Penumbra games. Are they any good? Scary?
-
They also have horror games on the NES too if you're interested in checking them out. Uninvited looked good and it plays like Déjà vu.
-
The original Clock Tower for Super Famicom is pretty darn spookifying. :o
-
And then there's Phantasmagoria, though I wouldn't go as far as calling it a good game. It's actually incredibly boring most of the time, and then extremely disturbing towards the end. It's not scary, just... disgusting.
-
PLayed Clock Tower on Super Famicom a while back, and yes, its spook :x over 10 years old and i was shitting my pants when the scissor men did rush me for the 1st time and 2nd time and 3rd time and so on...lol ^^°
Uninvited sounds good, if its like Dja Vu. ^^ This old horror games are just great. Wrong way, scary loud sounds, dead, sad music. lol its more spooky then RE5 actually. ^^
and i dont think i will gonna try Phantasmagoria, but you tube will for sure help. (:
thx alot again

like I always mention when these threads come up... if you can find it get Nosferatu Wraith of Malachi. Highly overlooked and unknown game from a few years back. Hard to come by either legit or not. Its worth it tho

YES. Buy them. Also buy Amnesia.
I still gotta knuckle down and beat those games one day. Only played a bit of 1st part of Penumbra, but it was awesome despite budget limitations and whatnot.

I agree with Munchy, Amnesia: The Dark Descent is an amazing game worth checking out if your PC is up for it.
-
While not a horror game, Thief: The Dark Project has some pretty scary parts. There's zombies in the game, as well as these totally freaky ghoul things that have rattly chains and holyshiti'mgettingspookedjustthinkingaboutthem; and then there are lots of weird creatures that are sure to unsettle. If you like first-person stealth games with boatloads of atmosphere and really fun, creative gameplay, I recommend it. Don't let negative opinions toward the third game, Deadly Shadows, affect your decision to play the first two. Although despite being rather poor in comparison, I still really liked the third game, and it's got a really freaky ghost stage if you can manage to get that far in the game.
(And if you do play the first game, play Thief Gold over the original. Cool added stuff, except the opening cinematic's THIEF GOLD logo looks really crappy; wish they had kept the original title for the opening.)

Loved Thief. It was incredible for the time... still is - and the first time I passed a guard and heard him say 'What was that? Who's taffing around out there? Come out, you taffer!' I freaked. Subsequent freakings ensued as I progessed - with many a LOL had. Pissed off that I can't seem to get Thief or Thief 2 to work on my rig.
Definitely want to check out Amnesia. Have looked at the trailers and from what I discerned from it, it's very immersive in it's horror setting.

Eternal Darkness for the GC
-
So, bought Amnesia on Steam last Night.
Its still a good game. I dont know wtf is going on in this game, but its scary (:
thx for telling this (:

Eternal Darkness for the GC
I second that. One of the best horror games ever.

Thirded. I'd kill for a sequel.
-
Eternal Darkness is indeed an awesome game.
About a year ago I bought a survival horror game called Cursed Mountain for the Wii. I was only able to play a little bit of it before becoming too busy with school work, but it was creepy as hell. It has a unique setting, too - the Himalayas! I'll finish the game and maybe give a full review sometime in October.
-
I am not sure if this would really considered horror in the sense as slient hill or any other listed here, but onimusha is some slick fun.

Kuon (http://ps2.ign.com/objects/606/606402.html) for PS2 is pretty scary.
Not only is it scary in atmosphere, but it's set in a time period in the past so you're stuck using candles and torches instead of flashlights.
It's made by the people who did Lost Kingdoms. It's a pretty cool game.

"Kuon Preview
When a bunch of demons spontaneously appear and start slaughtering the residents of a Japanese manor, the only thing to do is send in an easily frightened girl to solve the problem and save the day..."
that´s just kinda funny. haha ^^ gonna try this for sure if i can get that game. (: thx

Doom 3 - Still good as action and Horror
Bioshock - may not be strong as Horror, but its very good.
Dead Space - good for a go, but the horror really relies too much on jump scares
N64 and PSX Doom - those games have the scariest atmosphere, its quite different than the others..
Siren Blood curse - pretty good for a ps3 title
F.e.a.r and STALKER are said to be good too, never played those (yet)
Amnesia Dark Descent wasn't my cup of tea, didn't build up a good atmosphere for me...
-
I don't find horror games spooky but when I was a kid the nes Friday The 13th used to make me jump whenever Jason would pop out to fight you.
-
OMG, I loved that game, Friday the 13th was endless fun!
-
Just in case no one has suggested it yet (too lazy to check), I highly recommend DEAD SPACE. I haven't played the second, but the first one really creeped me the eff out.
As usual, play it late at night, by yourself, preferably with surround sound or headphones.
-
Check out Dead Island when it comes out the first week of next month.
-
Bioshock - may not be strong as Horror, but its very good.
Oh yeah, in order to keep pimpin' Thief: The Dark Project, I'll mention that its scenario was written by Ken Levine, and it's by far the best thing he's ever been involved with, IMO. So folks, go play it!
I back the N64 and PSX DOOM recommendation. Aubrey Hodges' dark ambient scores in those games REALLY make them an unnerving experience.
Doom 64 Soundtrack - Dark Citadel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agKy-Ti_8kE#)
holy balls wtf no *cowers*

I'll second Kuon as it's a pretty good one.
I'd also throw Obscure and Cold Fear into the mix, as well as if you can track down Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare on Dremcast do it. New Nightmare is basically a reboot of the Alone in the Dark series that the original RE was based on and it's a really under rated game that only came out on the DC. Obscure is basically a pretty fun teen horror game in the vein of films like the Faculty, but it's really a fun game once you get the hang of it. Cold Fear is basically RE on a boat... You'll either enjoy it or hate it but it's worth a mention.
I'd also throw Shadow Hearts (the first game at least) out there as well as alot of the Shin Megami Tensei stuff as Horror RPGs...
Oh and the Legacy of Kain series (especially LOK: Blood Omen) while not horror games per say they are definately influenced by horror films.
