The brainchild behind Apple's iPod, iPhone, etc. has passed away today, a day after the announcement of the iPhone 4S:

Godspeed Mr. Jobs, your brilliant mind has forever revolutionized smartphones & the way we communicate across the planet

Even though I've never really been an Apple guy, I gotta say that seeing someone as influential as Steve Jobs passing away is really sad.
-
I am completely incapable of feeling any sadness for anyone who is/was super-wealthy.
-
I can't say I agree with your sentiment. Just beacuse he's rich shouldn't make you less sympathetic for him.
But honestly, I don't think I care myself... I'm not an apple fan, so to me, he's really just another guy, but he happens to be rich.
He did do one thing, though I don't know if it's good or bad... and that's allow people to identify idiots easier. Look for an iphone and ask them a few question. ;D The answer comes out momentarily.

Not a huge Apple fan but I have to respect the man, he was a true visonary in technology.
R.I.P :(

I'm no less caring than any super-wealthy person has to be in a world where billions are impoverished, so please don't insinuate that it is I who is cold.

Farewell, jobs-sama! I will never forget you T_T

I insinuated no such thing, but I don't think that should be a merit as to why you couldn't care less.

he made so many things possible... Pixar being one of them, he is already missed.
-
I was never a big Apple fan myself but I will admit Steve Jobs explored and pushed some new boundaries and left behind some good ideas and tools for the future.

Just so we're clear, without this man, we probably wouldn't be writing on a message board right now unless we knew programming or something. Jobs made computers not just for engineers but for the masses. Without the Macintosh computer, the personal computer would not exist in the same way as it does today.
-
He made some bonehead decisions, as well as some highy innovative ones. May he rest in peace.

I'm lost...... was he the one who pushed for that and/or make it work? I don't know too much on it, but I know he only worked for Apple back in the day and was fired or quit. It wasn't until recently that he became CEO.
-
He led the team that designed the Mac.

I was shocked when I heard about it. There's been this tribute floating around since the original artist reposted it online in memoriam.
