Title: Vampire Variations - Castlevania 25th Anniversary Album
Post by: Vampire Killer on October 11, 2011, 10:47:27 PM

Some of you looking for more guitar oriented Cv remixes will love this. Check out the the preview vid to hear some samples.

Unfortunately, it's not out yet, but should be within the next few weeks.

Really looking forward to this.

You silly caniggitt. Chern is the director of the project. He already posted this in the 25th Anniversary thread.

Yeah, thanks for sharing, haha!  ;)

Don't worry, the album is coming nicely along and won't be delayed. I'm surprised with the overall quality of the album and I hope you CV fans will like it.

I knooww... it's just my way of paying tribute to Castlevania with all the "heroes with whips" that have saved the world countless times from the vampire ^_^

Then you should listen to Castlevania music. It is awesome.  ;)

I'd venture to say that I've probably listened to more Castlevania music than the majority of people here. This stuff barely passes as Castlevania music imo.

Doubtful...lol Also the imagery of the vid was cool. The music itself reminds me of "Dracula X remixies" a kinda of "club" meets Castlevania if you are aware of that OST. There are only snippits of songs in the vid but not all of them sound bad. Some of the more recognizable themes sound quite good.

Rugal, you're so full of shit. You're assuming you've listened to more Castlevania music than the rest of us, which I can say is most likely untrue. (I can throw my hat into that ring easily)

How exactly does this "Barely pass as Castlevania Music"? There are several pieces where you can clearly hear the source material standing out perfectly while still have their own original modifications. That's the whole point of a "Remix Tribute" - for new and differing interpretations of already created music pieces to be arranged for fresh and interesting variations. You don't like what you hear? Don't listen to it.

And seriously? This is done by the guys over at The Shizz, and they do damn good work. (most of them enter Dwelling of Duels often) And I love VikingGuitar for his SCV4 medley so his stuff is bound to be epic.

I've got all the official albums, gamerips, and a Fuck ton of fan material.

I have to dissagree with that last statement, here is a list of albums within the same vein of this album.

Harmony of Despair
Judgement
Tribute Vol 1+2
Dracula Battle Perfect Selection 1+2
Curse of Darkness
Dracula X Chronicles
Dracula X Remixes
Akumajo Dracula The Arcade

I dare not say that the highly renowned Dracula Battle Perfect Selections are not castlevania music, I've seen countless Youtube immitations.

My whole life has perpetually been enamored and injected with Castlevania music spanning every game and OST release (be it official or one of many fan-made compilations). So I'm just sayin' that I just turned 30 and have listened to Castlevania music literally a big chunk of my life. This Vampire Variations has the perfect combination of what a remix is, which in many opinions would be that it sounds unique but still holds similar melodies and musical patterns of the originals.

Rugal can shit all over it but there's others here and elsewhere that "get it". Vampire Variations sounds good and I can't wait for more!

I've sent you a cookie via UPS.

Wow you people.. I'm not going to sit here and prove to anyone how much Castlevania music I've listened to in my life. Been listening to it since I popped in CV3 in my NES in 1991 but whatever.

And Sindra, if you can't handle my opinion then you can kindly piss right off. There are but a few moments in that entire video where I can hear any Castlevania remixes. If anything, it can pass for an original score with a slight remix here and there and I don't like it.

It's gonna be alright.. I promise. No heart attacks are necessary.

Awww, look at that! Rugal's in a "who's got a bigger dick" contest with me. Don't worry my friend, I assure you that you are the bigger dick.  :D

On a more serious note, I assume you don't listen much to stuff from Overclocked Remix or the like, right? Or Dwelling of Duels. This is the same kind of music that comes from them. Although honestly, if this were an OCR project album, even less of the original source material would be able to be heard at all. (they tend to go more and more for original mockups of tunes than remixes that you can clearly hear the source tunes) And like was said....this is only a teaser trailer that you're getting your "opinions" from. Calling it crap before you hear the whole thing is kinda defeating the purpose.

And I will patiently be awaiting my cookie with baited breath.

Dwelling of Duels

Love with what comes up from them one of my favorites is this (it helps me study sometimes):

Hey, you're the one that attempted to compare dicks with me and saying that I'm probably wrong about my Castlevania music experience. You must have the biggest dick of them all, huh? You deserve an extra cookie!

Why does my calling it crap right now defeat the purpose? If I download a demo of a game and don't like it at all, do you think I'm going to go out and buy said game when the full release comes out? You are clearly having a hard time and looking in way too deeply into someone else opinion. You need to CLAM DOWN a bit. CLAM. DOWN.

I support Rugal being an insufferable douche in this thread, it's humorous on a subtle level. The gist of the joke taking place is him immaturely calling it "shit" or "crap" just because he particularly doesn't like it so he automatically thinks it's worthless and has no redeeming value despite so much creative talent that went into this thing. Everything's so black and white with this guy, it's slightly comedic how magically autistic he's displaying himself for all to see! IT'S DELICIOUS! ;D

Dudes, please stop arguing. I don't have Jorge's authority, but don't spam this thread with stupid insults. Come back on topic and discuss about Vampire Variations. Are you looking to get it? Which track in the 2 previews do you prefer so far?

Sorry Chern. Didn't mean to derail your topic. People who bash on good music without a decent enough explanation burn my ass.

Come to think of it, I've never heard any of your own stuff before, but I have heard stuff from most of the other artists on this album. You got a place you stash your music?

No problem, Sindra. The Internet is the Internet, haha.

If you want an example of my work, you may want to check Harmony of a Hunter (http://www.shinesparkers.net/harmonyofahunter/) (a Metroid tribute album). I also posted in the Fan-work subforum.

I'll try not to escalate any trouble in this thread even if I do LOVE Rugal flailing his arms around in anger. That's just comedy gold, folks. I'd explain who I am to him but that would be even more off topic, right? Pretty tedious and unnecessary I'd say.

BACK ON TOPIC: I'm psyched that this digital release is going to be free on Halloween! Fuck yeah!

Perhaps sometime more fitting I could explain myself in further detail. I'm content being enigmatic for now... I usually aim to just keep neutral alignment with most folks here but I think you're particularly spiffy, Sindra. Mainly because you did such an ace job with your 3 part Castlevania 25th Anniversary Tribute vids. I'm glad along with Chern's Vampire Variations soon to be released album, the 25th anniversary is really getting more of the proper attention it so rightly deserves. Rock! ;)

Out of all the tracks, some of which I admit didn't cater to my tastes, Veneficus Mens Mentis was my favorite. Then again, being a remix of Dance of the Holy Man/Theme of Simon might have something to do with it. :-X

Sorry for not commenting on this album on the release, but I've only downloaded it recently. Anyway...

What a fantastic album. When I watched the first trailer for it, I didn't liked it that much, to be sincere... but now that I listened all of it, my mind was blown away. Most of the arrangers did a fantastic job with the themes from Castlevania I. There are just a few of them that I don't like, because it doesn't fit my personal tastes... but man, these medleys... and Hat... oh my god, Hat's one is so pimp! I almost started to brew some tea and walk/talk like a gentleman.

Fantastic album. Good job guys!
