Obviously Castlevania is on the list, this, for a change I'll lets everyone else start before I put in my two cents, GO!
-
From the top of my head I say devil may cry, ghost and goblins, slient hill, clocktower, fatal frame, doom, resident evil, for a section pokemon yellow lavender town, zelda majora's mask, and that is all for me right now.
-
oh god, Lavender Town....
There's a rumor that the Version 1.0 Japanese Red/Green had a hidden sound wave that caused seizures or even suicide.
I want to add Dead Space and Bioshock in the mix as well as MFing DOOM! (game never gets old)
-
What, no Metroid? Shit can get creepy sometimes, especially the original NES game.
Oh, and the L4D series along with Dead Island. Though I'm not too sure about the latter due to it being set mostly in daytime.

The metroids... Oh god. The first time I played that game, I was renting it. I used the password to get Samus without her suit on. I made it to the shaft with the metroids in it. I never made it to Mother Brain at the time (I did later as an adult) because once I got to the metroids, I turned off my Nintendo and returned the game to the store 6 hours earlier than it was due.
I still hate that part of the game......

Eternal Darkness
Epic Mickey
Batman games
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Silent Hill
-
Bloodrayne? :D
-
Splatterhouse.
-
Monster Party
Sweet Home
Chiller
The Uninvited
Maniac Mansion
-
Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Splatterhouse are always good Halloween games.
-
To add to my previous list, I guess that Bloody Roar counts somewhat, with notably Halloween-y Zoantrophes (AKA werebeasts) including Yugo Ogami the Wolf and Jenny Burtory (Bartley/Bathory?) the Bat from BRII: The New Breed.
...What? Werebeasts do count, right?
-
Vampire Hunter D for the PS1.
-
Eternal Darkness
That game creeped me right the fuck out when I first played it. I love stuff that is blatantly in the style of H.P. Lovecraft.
-
With out touching the castlevania series these were the games I played during the halloween season
Dead Island
Dead Nation
Zombie apocplypse
Ryu Ga Gotoku: Of the End
Aliens: Infestation
RAGE
Then if you wanna just dig up some halloween-esc games you could go with
(RECENT/LAST GEN)
Onichambara
Onimusha
Haunting ground
Alan wake
Bourderlands: Zombie Island
(OLD SCHOOL)
Parasite Eve
Friday the 13th
Nightmare on elmstreet
Fester's quest
I tried to name stuff that wasn't said so next year you might have some other ideas :)

Can't believe nobody has mentioned MediEvil. It is to me the most halloween-ish game ever made. Hands down. Jack-O-Lanterns, Zombies, Witches, Vampires, Scarecrows, Black Cats, Demons, Ghouls, Mummies, Ghosts, - it's all there.
MediEvil Playstation commercial (US) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUAUJCNYjk8#)
I'm glad I ran into this thread because now I'm gonna go download medievil and play through it for the first time in years. I had almost forgotten about it.

Don't worry, God still loves you.
-
Totally the "Ghosts n' Goblins" series. Spooky but fun at the same time. What's scarier than being chased by zombies when you're wearing nothing but your underwear?
Plus I agree with Medievil. The second one was awesome too. Great games! ...although I'd love to play a version where the control was better. I was constantly just leaping over pits and hoping for the best.
-
It's the camera that sucks. Very common for early 3D, but medievil isn't the worst offender. *cough* super mario 64 *cough* All 3D games had bad cameras until Tomb Raider, and many even were bad after that. TR was probably the first 3D game to have a camera that wasn't garbage, though.
Now I have to play Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts too.
-
I'm so glad you mentioned Mario 64! Everybody loves it, but I've never been able to really get into it because of the difficult camera. I remember trying to play it when it first came out, and I was gritting my teeth and cursing, "I just...want...to jump...THIS WAY!" and kept falling into the water.
-
I'm so glad you agreed with me before the SM64 fans throw feces at me!
That camera had me so frustrated that I gave up on it after a while, too. After a while, I just realized that nearly all of my deaths and hard points were caused by the poopy camera. Every time someone complains about the camera in SM Galaxy, I invite them to try SM64 and they will learn to love the camera in Galaxy.
-
Ghosts n' Goblins reminds me of series that I don't think has been mentioned yet, how about Maximo!

Eh, it might've sucked but it was far from being a game crusher for me. I only quit after obtaining enough stars to fight Bowser. 85 I believe.
-
SM64 had pretty great camera....for its time (pioneers early on, some generation-now games still don't get the camera right).
Also, you guys just suck at gaming. :P :P :P
-
I beat Mario64 the first two times I played it. The camera wasn't that bad.
-

Ahh! of course but if we are going down the route of series then how about demon's crest?
Also I would like to say onimusha 1-2, three was a bit too sci-fi with time travel in my opinion and dawn of dreams was too anime like which I like but not horror like the first two.
