Title: when Alucard dies
Post by: crisis on November 01, 2011, 07:15:11 PM
That man that is the true heir to the castle, 600 years later known as Genya Arikado, he lives under the protection of a Japanese agency for some reason. In Dawn's conclusion he hints there might be another Dark Lord after Soma, but what of his own fate? He can't live forever can he?

who will succeed in killing him.. a Holy warrior or another anti-hero or will he commit suicide? what will become of his damned soul  :'(

Well, if Christianity is true in the Castlevania-verse, then Alucard could be completely screwed. Not sure if Jesus' blood sacrifice applies to half-vampires but the drinking of blood outside of the symbolism of drinking Jesus' 'blood' is condemned in multiple passages such as:

"Leviticus 17:10-14
“... I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.

1 Corinthians 10:21
You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons."

He's arguably doubly damned because he also willingly and unrepentantly practices dark magic. White magic and black magic are not acceptable in Christianity:

“Let no one be found among you... who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.  Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord...” (Deuteronomy 18:9-14).

Paul in Galatians 5:19-21.  “Now the works of the flesh are manifest... witchcraft... and the like.  I warn you, as I did before that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

In other words, without being saved through grace AND repenting of sins such as performing magic- the magic that they use to thwart evil and save lives and almost certainly do NOT believe they should repent for using in their hearts- Alucard and all other spellcasters in the series are damned to Hell by default... and I was going to put a smarmy remark about how supposedly loving the Christian god is here, but I decided not to... oh, wait... >_>

Alucard also consulted prophecies and worked to see them fulfilled, which is also apparently detestable.  Kind of weird considering the Book of Revelations... XD

On a side note, if Alucard dies in-series, fans are going to throw a fit.

I wouldnt say he's "under the protection of" the agency, he's a part of it. Of course we know nothing about said agency either, but apparently Dracula is it's concern if Arikado makes an appearance. Note as Arikado his powers are sealed, as he mentions in Dawn i think- In I think the bad ending where Soma goes Dracula. (he mentions he will have to unleash his powers or something) And only then does he actually shed his disguise and fight as Alucard.

Dunno. I mean, he HAS drank blood when he was younger, before he turned against his father, but he DID turn against his father- and aids the powers of good that be in making sure one day his Father is defeated forever, and he curses his own existence and bloodline, so I dunno, he could be "forgiven" his prior sins... I mean, being half vampire alone is no cause for him to go straight to hell, and he has tried his best to attone for his sins by aiding Belmonts.

Who knows. Its a pretty good question. I think Sex Thing should ask that priest of his with the "mysterious hem rope". He might know a thing or two.

With this goody-two-shoes thing he has going on, it's gonna be natural causes (heh). Or maybe sacrifice himself like the dhampir Jesus he is.

Ugh..I really feel he is getting wasted as a character in his present state. And now it's probably all Gabricula this and Satan that for years. I am interested in knowing what IGA had planned. Just to see if he actually had something interesting going on.

He's not gonna die. He's the Zero of Castlevania; just replace "Dr. Wily" with "Dracula" and "died" with "sealed himself in a sleep that lasted all of five seconds".
Title: Re: when Alucard dies
Post by: X on November 02, 2011, 12:32:37 AM
I don't believe Alucard is damned even in the slightest. He was born a Dhampyre; not by his own choosing. By nature a vampire must have blood to survive. A normal vampire can choose to be good or evil like Dracula did. In terms of God condemning Alucard? Nonsense. God doesn't turn away his own children that he loves unconditionally and equally as God doesn't play favorites; that's a human quality. The only way for Alucard to be damned was if he were to turn away from God himself; by his own choice, much like Mathias did.

I'm sorry; did we read the same Bible?  The Abrahamic God often played favorites.

As stated in the Bible, it's not enough to simply accept JC/God and be saved by grace; you have to repent of sin as well.  If someone knowingly commits a sin and does not repent, then they are not saved.  Even if we assume that Alucard is not by his very nature damned (we have no evidence or passage in the Bible that indicates anything either way about that), he still knowingly and unrepentantly practices dark magic.  If I understand the Bible correctly, Alucard is doomed to Hell for unrepentantly practicing sorcery.

Like his father, he will disappear for 100 years and come back from the dead then.

Or he will be resurrected by a DARK PRIEST.

No I don't read the bible, though from a theological standpoint some of the passages are interesting like the seven seals that speak of the four horsemen (which would make an awesome CV boss battle imo). I'm into spirituality; not religion. I am self-selective in what I feel is true to me. If there are things about God that sound negative, I question them thoroughly without fear. I don't believe in sin as we are only human and thus we make mistakes. It is our greatest contradiction in life, no? And it is through those mistakes that we learn and gain valuable knowledge. We were deliberately created by God to be that way and God know it because he knows all. Really simple isn't it? Anyways I don't want to get off-topic nor derail this thread any further so I'll end this paragraph here  :)

From "Encyclopedia of Castlevania"

http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Encyclopedia_of_Castlevania (http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Encyclopedia_of_Castlevania)

Alucard is the hybrid with human and vampire.
When he dies, human's portion disappears.
Only a vicious vampire remains.
He is not allowed to die.

^ That's interesting.  Is there a place where that can be read online?

So, he would be damned.  That really sucks.

I'm into spirituality; not religion. I am self-selective in what I feel is true to me.

And I'm non-religious. Doesn't mean I can't know religion.
You just... decide what you think the truth is based upon feelings?  How, by intuition? I always thought the truth was about objective facts.

But if they're positive they're assumed to be true?

I started my post with "Well, if Christianity is true in the Castlevania-verse..." because it is heavily implied that in the Castlevania-verse, Christianity is canon; I'm guessing the OP assumes the same considering the poll at the top of this topic.
Whether or not sin actually exists is irrelevant.

lol ;D

Well Alucard is immortal so if he dies would be by the hands of an enemy. I don't think he would commit suicide. If Alucard were suicidal he would have done it a long time ago instead of just falling asleep in a tomb.

Alucard can still go to heaven but I suspect he would have to make lots of sacrifices, if he's willing to do so then he will be saved, if he's not then he'll go to where the likes of him belongs to.

If xtianity is true in the CV world, or in the real world even, then everyone is fuct and going to hell.  Only those who abandon all need for money or possessions, and do nothing that is self motivated and basically exist to tend to others, particularly those in need, and stay that way their whole lives, will go to heaven. (new testament trumps old) Last time I checked, NOBODY really lives by those tenets, in the CV world or the real one.
Besides, I'm sure he probably accidentally touched his penis in the shower at least once.  Damned for sure.

Someone's missing the point of that quote about Alucard's human part dying.

Alucard will not die. If he is ever "slain" as Dracula has been slain countless times, whatever human part of him he has, such as his soul or compassion or bodily organs (the first two are speculative, but the organs is guaranteed) would be necrotized and he would become a full-fledged vampire. He would no longer be a dhampir at all. He would arise again and terrorize humanity just like his father. In order to prevent that from happening - to prevent a war against two Draculas or the continuation of the terror of Dracula - people have worked together to try to prevent Alucard from ever being slain. So if any vampire hunter were to actually slay Alucard out of foolish bravado, he would ultimately fail and doom mankind.

That's what repentance is for.
It might differ depending upon the denomination (I don't know) but how I understand it is:
1. you're going to Hell by default unless you accept JC.  This is why denying the holy spirit is the one unforgivable sin.
2. you're still going to Hell unless you repent of the sins you commit.  This is because it is (as stated in the Bible) impossible to live a life free of sin.  (Oddly enough,  Enoch and Elijah were said to be free of sin and God actually took him alive into Heaven, despite Jesus saying that no one has ascended into Heaven.  That's a whole mess of contradictions right there. XD)

LOL so all the things that Jesus taught can easily be ignored, as long as you repent before you die.  Why do people even bother to put all that effort into believing it (making excuses, etc) if that's the path they all end up taking, anyways?  I just love that religion, so loony!  Oh, and I totally deny the holy spirit.

Some people might tell you that, but repentance is not as simple as just confessing and saying you're sorry. >_>
And because it's not enough to simply 'say' you accept JC and repent; you have to do it 'in your heart,' or whatever. Basically you have to mean what you say and do. >_>

Everyone has a different interpretation of the rules.  People cherry-pick the things that they like, they interpret meanings as they see fit, and they flat out ignore other things.  There are probably just as many interpretations and explanations for how this belief system works as there are christians.  So i guess it all means whatever the heck people want it to mean.  I tend to look at the whole picture and instead of trying to figure out who has it right and who's doing it wrong, I just conclude that the whole thing is baloney.
I apologize to the author if they feel that my expression is causing a thread hi-jack, so I'm going to ignore the thread now lest it get further off track.  Peace out!

Back on topic, if Alucard dies, what will happen to him?  It's really hard to tell.  From what I know about Christianity, by all means, he should go to Hell simply because he is descended from a vampire.  However, based on what he has been doing (protecting humans from monsters) he deserves a reward for all his effort.

The idea that only his human half will truly die while his vampire side rises from the dead as a full vampire is something I have never heard before.  If that was the case, his human part should go to heaven.  Of course, this all assumes that he will ever be killed.  I'd also hate to fight a full vampire Alucard.  It would be a really dick move if konami killed off Alucard and brought him back as a full vampire enemy.  He is way to awesome for that to happen to him.

Dhampir death seems to come from role-playing games, such as D&D. Not sure where it originated, maybe it was a part of the Slavic myths. A dhampir cannot be killed by mundane causes, only those things that could kill a vampire. Of course, having human blood in them makes them more resistant to such attacks. When the dhampir dies, it comes back to "life" after some time as a full-fledged vampire. This also means it loses the protection/resilience human blood gave it.

     Could someone please clarify some things to me religilously and otherwise.

1 Is God the only uncaused cause in existence?
2 If 1 is true then what was the cause of vanity, disobedience, pride and all of the other things said to have been inherent in man?
3 If there is an adversarial force to God why was it able to become that way?
4 If God is all loving and does not change i.e. is the same yesterday today and tomorrow where did this angry God come in?
5 Do you think that Alucard should be in a future platform based Castlevania title?

My feelings on Alucard is that he would probably either go to Heaven or be obliterated.

Lords of shadow will never be true to Castlevanias roots Cox has made pretty damn certain of that
more on topic though, wouldn't a simple wooden stake through the heart kill both Alucards vampiric side and his human side in one single blow? and if not that than how about a strike from the Vampirekiller whip? the whip works fine on a vampire as powerfull as Dracula and I imagine it's just as effective at harming humans too.

In SoTN, doesn't Drac say something about doing away with Alucard's "Weak human side" when you fight him? That would seem to lend some support to the "becoming a full vampire" when he dies theory. :o

I really don't want to jump off-topic with this, but it seems that these discussions are inevitably linked. I'll try and answer some of them for you but keep this in mind; Everyone has their own ideas and believes about what religion is so...

1 Is God the only uncaused cause in existence?

From what I studied here and there, God has always been around and will always be around. As far as I know he/she is eternal and everlasting and there is just nothing else out there that created God or lead to God's creation.

Quote
2 If 1 is true then what was the cause of vanity, disobedience, pride and all of the other things said to have been inherent in man?

Simple; Humans. Humans have a soul but they also have what's known as the human ego. The ego our biological identity and it is through this that negativity is abound. The ego wasn't created by God, it manifested on it's own. I'm still trying to find out how exactly it did that.

Quote
3 If there is an adversarial force to God why was it able to become that way?

People have their own ideas of what God's "opposite" is so I don't want to offend anyone here. But I will tell you of what I heard: During the creation of souls a group of them broke away from God and became 'Dark'. The purpose of Dark entities is to extinguish 'Light' as they cannot survive in it. To them it is detestable and disgusting. To me these entities are far more dangerous then any demon (Lucifer or Satan) cause they can reincarnate as humans like us. But you wouldn't know if someone was a dark entity unless you knew what to look for. But sometimes it's blatantly obvious as you'd get a kind of gut-feeling telling you that something about said individuals was off one some level or another. for instance If you looked at a person who was just like everybody else except he/she was the only one to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, then chances are that person is a dark entity.

No 1. Word
No 2. Thanks for the reply.

I know this topic is about Alucard and his fate after Death gets the better of him. I think eventually he will break from the curse when his father dies and he will be allowed to pass away peacefully to a higher state of existence.
Back to the God issue. The notion of something wanting to willfully go against perfection would ruin the notion of perfection ever existing to begin with would it not? Something is askew here. Especially since I have heard God would not destroy that which He is trying to have a relationship with (ahem Sodom and Gamorrah ahem).

Yay my turn for the fun answers!

I haven't played many of the new CV games... OK none. I played SOTN and LoI, the Gameboy (the really old school) ones, and the NES ones. Oh and the SNES ones and Rondo. Anyway, that said, I didn't know there was ever any statement about God needing an opponent or whatever. As soon as I saw that mentioned on page ... whatever... in this thread, it clicked, although the inspiration is probably wrong:

God needs an antagonist. I don't know where that idea stemmed from, but it didn't first appear in Castlevania. In the notorious film Urotsukidouji 2: Legend of the Demon Womb, there is the idea that, if there is a god, so too must there be a demon king. The movie never went into detail about it. There's also the argument posed by believers in exorcism that if demons exist, then God must exist. The opposite could then be posed as well, because the Bible states demons exist, so if God exists, the Bible, which is the word of God, says demons exist and therefore demons exist. Dualism is believed by some to be the predominant original belief in Zoroastrianism, the precursor to Christianity, with Ahura Mazda (the good) and Angra Mainyu (the evil, aka Ahriman). Although there are different interpretations of the Zoroaster scriptures, some saying Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu were twins and Angra Mainyu chose to be good, some saying Angra Mainyu doesn't really exist and his evil doesn't really eixst but perception of it makes it exist (or something), or Angra Mainyu was a creation of Ahura Mazda.

On the topic of free will existing when the creator knows everything, that's an easy answer. It's surprising the question even exists these days. Consider this code:
Code: [Select]
my_choice = choose( watch_MrX_die, try_to_save_MrX, expedite_death_of_MrX, turn_a_blind_eye )

That's a format from GameMaker. What we see here is the programmer (God) has given the computer (man) the option to choose its next action. Now, the computer doesn't know what will happen next - it hasn't reached that part of the code yet - but God already knows because he programmed the switch condition that follows as well:

Code: [Select]
switch ( my_choice )
{
    case watch_MrX_die:
    case turn_a_blind_eye: feel_guilt(); feel_shame(); feel_remorse(); burn_in_hell=true; break;
    case try_to_save_MrX: with(MrX) death_by_fire(); with(self) death_by_fire(); burn_in_hell=false; break;
    case expedite_death_of_MrX: goto_jail(); burn_in_hell=true; break;
}

The computer (man) makes a choice of his own free will, then man suffers the consequences the programmer (God) set down for that choice. And if you have a problem looking at computers theologically, read the works of Douglas Adams. I think it was in Salmon Of A Doubt.

I like the quotes I see on Google, though. "If God cannot prevent evil, then he isn't omnipotent. So why worship him?" A: Because he can smite your ass in a fraction of a nanosecond, bitch! Cthulhu and his ilk were defeated in ancient times, yet he still had his followers. Stupid people...  :rollseyes:

Here are some quotations taken from Castlevania Art Works/Timeline booklet, 2003,
(click to show/hide)

"For the life of every creature
its blood is its life: therefore I have said to the people of Israel:
You shall not eat the blood of any creature,
for the life of every creature is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off."
(Leviticus Chapter 17:14)

"Jesus said to them, 'Very truly I tell you,
unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life,
and I will raise them up at the last day.
For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.'"
(John Chapter 6)

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, according to Science. God=Energy.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, according to Science. God=Energy.

Okay, first off... if 'God' was 'energy,' then 'God' would be a natural, non-sentient substance subject to the natural world.  'God' as described in Christianity cannot be 'energy.' >_>

Secondly, we HAVE seen energy/matter 'created and destroyed' in vacuum fluctuations.  It's an incredibly common occurrence.
Based upon it scientists have formed the hypothesis that the entire universe is a vast vacuum fluctuation.

Maybe "God" is something that believes itself to be the supreme being and failing to understand that he can't overpower that "energy" and can't therefore be truly omnipotent. I believe this has been suggested in several works of fiction.

..How did this topic end up talking about God..?

Because we were discussing whether or not Alucard would go to Heaven if he was killed.  It shouldn't be surprising that we would start taking about religion.  After all, we learn about Heaven from our faiths.  So talking about God and what he/she/it is would happen sooner or later.

That being said, I doubt that we will truly reach a consensus because we all have varying beliefs.

Only thing that could settle this is a word of God statement (See what I did there?) stating what happens to Alucard after he dies. And how Heaven and Hell work in the Castlevania world.

Well, demons are Dracula's bitches in Castlevania. Death was Drac's bitch, but LoI I took to suggest Drac is Death's bitch and Death finds it much easier just to let vampires play with themselves (just like my fiance). So in a way, we can kinda rule the whole argument moot: if there is a Hell, there's apparently no Satan to pusnish sinners because Dracula would then have no control over the demons, since even in demonmancy, the demons still are more powerful than the invokers who are must appease the demons in order to save their own hides. So if Alucard dies and goes to Hell, so what? It's not a place of eternal damnation, just a realm of demons and enslaved souls.

Yeah.  Alucard goes to hell and slays all the demons for eternity and becomes its ruler.

*Dracula gets killed. again.*
Alucard: Hi dad.  You staying long.
Dracula: No. My human followers should have resurrected shortly.
A: Well, until then, you are going to suffer for your sins.
*something starts happening to Dracula*
A: What's happening!?
D: It would seem that my followers are in the process of resurrecting me and there's nothing you can do to stop it. Farewell my son.
A: I'm not worried.  You'll be back within the hour.  The Belmonts will see to that.
*one hour later*
A: Welcome back.
D: Not again.
*This goes on over and over again for eternity.*
